Enzo Maresca sends transfer message to Chelsea defender

Enzo Maresca has confirmed at least two clubs have registered an interest in Chelsea youngster Josh Acheampong. The 19-year-old featured regularly in last season's triumphant Conference League campaign but is keen for more regular first team football. Acheampong started in Wednesday's Club World Cup win over ES Tunis and his versatility is likely to be of use to Maresca in the remainder of the tournament if Chelsea go deep into the competition. The player's long-term future, however, is less assured particularly with several high-profile European clubs monitoring his situation. When it was put to Maresca that both Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund 'liked' Acheampong the Chelsea boss did little to downplay their interest. All the good players any club like good players. 'My plan with Josh is quite clear. I think potentially he can be a top defender for this club, it's on him to also have the right timing to do the things. 'We are full of young players full of talent, even defenders. The best plan for Josh is to be with us and I'll be very happy if he is with us.' Maresca was less emphatic when it came to discussing the future of Trevoh Chalobah who spent the first part of last season on loan at Crystal Palace. More Trending An injury crisis saw Chelsea controversially recall the 25-year-old who went on to play a key part in the Blues' successful end to a turbulent campaign. He said: 'In this moment all the players that are with us I don't want to lose them, but we have said many times that when the transfer window is open many things can happen, to buy a player or to sell a player. 'Trevoh came back to us in January, if we did a Champions League spot and top four spot it's also because of Trev, he helped us a lot. 'In this moment he also plays some games for us, we are happy with him. Anything can happen but not only for Trev but all 25 players in the squad.' Amorim makes special request to Man Utd board in bid to avoid second nightmare

Manchester United endured a woeful first season under the tutelage of Rubem Amorim and it appears that the Portuguese is keen on some more changes behind the scenes at Old Trafford Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has requested his former trusted ally Acacio Valentim be added to his staff as part of another coaching restructure. The Portuguese head coach is determined to avoid another woeful campaign after a tricky first season at the helm. After replacing Erik ten Hag following a move from Sporting Lisbon, he led United to 14th in the Premier League, while they were defeated in the Europa League final by Spurs. And ahead of his second season with the club, Amorim has asked for some help behind the scenes. ‌ According to Portuguese outlet Record, Amorim has made a personal request to United chiefs to make a move for Acacio Valentim. The 49-year-old previously worked alongside his countryman as a coach at former club Braga, with Amorim keen to be reunited at Old Trafford. ‌ Talks are reportedly underway over a move to the UK, with Valentim a free agent having exited the Portuguese club this summer. His move would become the latest reshuffle behind the scenes since Amorim's arrival. Erik ten Hag 's former staff members including Ruud van Nistelrooy all left - the Dutchman has now been sacked by Leicester. Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel all also left following Amorim's arrival. Set piece coach Andreas Georgson was initially retained but appeared to take on a new role in December after Amorim confirmed that his assistant Carlos Fernandes was instead at the forefront of set piece planning. Explaining the change after a clash with Arsenal, he said: "The thinking is Carlos is responsible for set pieces, different stuff. Andreas is also there to help. That's it. That's the reason. "I think if you follow Premier League for a long time you can see that they (Arsenal) are also big players for that. And you can see it in every occasion that (Bukayo) Saka and (Gabriel) Martinelli has one against one, a lot of times they go outside and cross. They already know if the cross is going well, they can score. If it's a corner, they can score. ‌ "So we have to be better on that situation but like in every area of our game we need time to improve also. But you can see in all Arsenal games every team has a problem with that." Georgson eventually left his role in May of this year, while a number of prominent backroom figures have also departed Old Trafford over recent weeks.

Arsenal target stunning Eze transfer swoop years after leaving star 'in tears'

Arsenal have contacted Eberechi Eze's representatives to discuss signing the Crystal Palace star, who they released aged 13 but are interested in signing this summer Arsenal could be about to offer Eberechi Eze the chance to resurrect his childhood dream. The Gunners are interested the signing the Crystal Palace star, who enjoyed his best season yet last term. Eze, 26, memorably scored the winning goal for Palace in this year's FA Cup final and has made himself regular in England squads. And now the playmaker could be set for Champions League football. ‌ Mirror Football reported on Friday that talks between Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta and Eze's representatives have taken place, and the Gunners are now considering triggering his £68million release clause. Arsenal would be competing with north London rivals Tottenham, as new Spurs boss Thomas Frank is understood to be a big fan of the 26-year-old. ‌ But Berta could make use a trump card thanks to Eze's past. The England international played for Arsenal as a youngster, only to be released aged 13 in a crushing blow to his hopes of becoming a professional footballer. "I remember crying in my room for a solid week, my mum telling me that it's going to be okay but not being able to get over it," Eze told the Independent in 2020. "Then I went to Fulham and I was finally starting to enjoy my football again. "We played Arsenal a few months later but, when I went over to shake the academy manager's hand, I started welling up. All the feelings came back." Eze's eventual breakthrough with Queens Park Rangers was testament to his resilience, having also been snubbed by Millwall and Sunderland. The future Wembley hero considered quitting football and getting a part-time job at Tesco before QPR snapped him up. The pain of his early struggles still fuels him, telling BBC Sport in May: "I remember the deflation. But all I kept asking myself was: 'When's the next trial? When's the next trial?'" Should Arsenal pay £68million for Eberechi Eze? Have your say in the comments section. ‌ Eze is under contract at Palace until 2027 and the Eagles will be hoping to convince him to stay for at least one more season after they qualified for the Europa League by winning the FA Cup. Their entry, however, is subject to a UEFA decision over whether or not both Palace and French giants Lyon can be in European competition due to shared ownership links. "I really hope that that's not the case and I hope that Palace do get the reward for that (FA Cup win), because of what it took to actually achieve it," Eze commented last month. ‌ "It would be a huge shame if that was the case, but I'm trusting that it will work out in the end. I'm sure it will work itself out and it should work itself out, because there are players who have worked to be in this position. "There are fans who have been with the team throughout the whole season and experienced everything. It would be unfortunate, but I'm positive that it won't be the case."
