And if you need a little help before heading to the app to make your picks, I have you covered this week.
Read below for my thoughts on UFL conference championship weekend.
Let's dive into the questions and predictions below.
1. Will the TOTAL SCORE of the DC @ STL game be OVER or UNDER 46.5 points?
Over 46.5 points or Under 46.5 points
When these two teams met in Week 3, DC put up 27 to the Battlehawks' 15. When they met in Week 10, St. Louis scored 13 and the Defenders had a mere eight points. There's a bit more at stake here now that we're in the postseason, yes. But defenses will prevail and keep the score south of the point total.
Prediction: Under 46.5 points scored
2. Rank the teams by who will score the MOST POINTS (highest to lowest):
DC Defenders, St. Louis Battlehawks, Michigan Panthers, Birmingham Stallions
The defending champion Stallions are always a team to keep an eye on when it comes to lighting up the score board. Just last week, they scored 46 against the Showboats. And you always have to consider St. Louis as a high-scoring squad. Battlehawks scored 39 against the Brahmas in Week 9 and 29 against the Stallions in Week 8.
Prediction: Stallions, Battlehawks, Defenders, Panthers
3. Which of the following will occur?
Ta'amu 2 or more passing TDs
Saylors 1 or more rushing TD
STL or DC 3-point conversion attempt
None
Jordan Ta'amu has been a huge part of the Defenders' success this season. In fact, without him, they probably wouldn't be where they are. From Weeks 1 to 9, Jordan averaged 13.9 yards per completion and racked up more than 2,100 yards. Count on him to build on that during conference championship weekend.
Prediction: Ta'amu 2 or more passing TDs
4. Predict how many PASSING YARDS Jordan Ta'amu will have:
(12 points for one segment (ie; 0 to 190), 6 points for two segments (ie; 0 to 220), 3 points for three segments (ie; 0 to 245), 1 point for four segments (ie; 0 to 300+))
0-190 or 0-220 or 0-245 or 0-300+
190-220 or 190-245 or 190-300+
220-245 or 220-300+
245-300+
I already sang Jordan's praises above, and I think he'll carry much of the load this weekend like he has all year. I do, though, believe the Defenders will mix it up with their run game, which will impact how many yards Jordan racks up in the air.
Prediction: 190-220
5. Rank the receivers by who will have the most RECEIVING YARDS (highest to lowest):
Braylon Sanders, Hakeem Butler, Chris Rowland, Deon Cain
Deon Cain or Chris Rowland will likely lead this bunch. Cain has had stints in the NFL with the Bills, Panthers and Steelers. And through nine games this season, he's got the third-most receiving yards with 514. Rowland has 10 games under his belt this year and has the second-most receiving yards with 522.
Prediction: Chris Rowland, Deon Cain, Hakeem Butler, Braylon Sanders
6. What will be the outcome of this game?
DC Defenders win, or lose by 3 points or fewer
St. Louis Battlehawks win by 4 points or more
The Battlehawks are just the better team here. The St. Louis defense held DC to just two points over the first three quarters last week. There's a reason why the Battlehawks are the best team in the league this season.
Prediction: Battlehawks win by 4 points or more
Tiebreaker: What will be the final score?
Battlehawks 31, Defenders 24

Commanders' Terry McLaurin requests as contract dispute takes shocking twist
Things just got interesting for the Washington Commanders, as star wide receiver Terry McLaurin, who has been holding in at training camp, reportedly requested a trade. The Commanders and McLaurin have not been seeing eye to eye on a contract extension, and NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Thursday that McLaurin now wants out. It appeared this contract situation would lead to a trade request by McLaurin, but he reported to training camp earlier this week. He was placed on the active/PUP list due to an ankle injury. McLaurin, who has totaled over 1,000 yards in each of his last five seasons, has one year remaining on his $71 million deal he signed with Washington in 2022. McLaurin is looking to be among the top pass catchers in the league financially, with a deal believed to be around $32 million per season. If McLaurin were to get a deal with that average annual value, it would have him just outside the upper echelon of receivers in the NFL. Cincinnati Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase, Minnesota Vikings' Justin Jefferson and Dallas Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb are the highest-paid receivers in the NFL today, respectively. The current asking price for McLaurin would have him in the range of Pittsburgh Steelers' D.K. Metcalf ($33 million per season), New York Jets' Garrett Wilson ($32.5 million) and Philadelphia Eagles' A.J. Brown ($32 million). But while Metcalf is two years younger than McLaurin, for example, they are in the same draft class. And they have some comparable stats. Metcalf totaled 438 receptions for 6,324 yards and 48 touchdowns in his time with the Seattle Seahawks. McLaurin has tallied 460 receptions for 6,379 yards with 38 scores. McLaurin held out the first four days of training camp, which carried a $50,000 fine per day. By reporting to camp and being a hold-in, McLaurin avoids any more fines from Washington. Multiple outlets have reported that the Commanders have no intent to trade McLaurin, who would be a free agent after the season if a deal is not agreed upon. "You'd like to get these things done quicker, but it doesn't always happen that way," GM Adam Peters said on the first day of training camp, per ESPN. "Whatever happens along the way, just understand he's a great player and we want to keep him here."

What we're hearing on Red Sox trade deadline plans with six hours to go
The trade market is moving fast, and with six hours to go before front offices have to put their proverbial pencils down, the Red Sox have made just one move, shipping prospect Blaze Jordan to St. Louis for veteran lefty Steven Matz. There are expected to be more to come. Here's what we're hearing with six hours to go before the 6 p.m. ET trade deadline: 1) At this hour, most of the players who have been linked to the Red Sox are still on the board. Shane Bieber, Jhoan Duran and, surprisingly, Eugenio Suarez are the exceptions. But many big names, especially on the starting pitching market, have yet to move. The wild card on the market remains Minnesota's Joe Ryan. People around the Twins didn't anticipate them moving Duran, who is under team control through 2027. If the Twins are in for a dime, are they in for a dollar? Does the Duran move make it more likely that they'll deal Ryan? Folks in the game are wondering. 2) It's assumed by many to be a lock that the Diamondbacks deal starters Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly, who represent two of the top rental pitchers on the market. But there is a bar to clear. Both right-handers are candidates to receive a qualifying offer so the Diamondbacks are going to want more than a potential compensation pick would be worth. There's a world in which they deem the offers they're getting to not clear that bar. Both Gallen and Kelly would be very good fits for Boston. 3) The pursuit of Eugenio Suarez as a potential first base option, as first reported by The Athletic, shows that Craig Breslow is not ruling out offensive upgrades, even with pitching remaining the priority. It still feels like Tampa Bay's Yandy Díaz represents a North Star of sorts for the Red Sox when it comes to first base upgrades but the Rays operate creatively and the trades of Danny Jansen and Zack Littell don't signal that they're going to sell off more key pieces. Baltimore's Ryan O'Hearn is out there, too. 4) The Matz-for-Jordan deal is very, very similar to the trades Breslow made in his first deadline running the Red Sox last year. Think: spare part for rental that represents a small upgrade. The key is getting better results than a year ago, when every deal flopped. And shopping for bigger fish. 5) Alex Cora remains close with Christian Vázquez and with the Twins in sell mode, one baseball source said 'all (the Red Sox) have to do is call' if they wanted to land their former catcher. It might come down to whether the Sox view Vázquez, who has a .519 OPS and is making $10 million this year, as a true upgrade over Connor Wong, who has shown a little bit more with the bat in recent days. Availability isn't the issue with Vázquez. 6) It feels like the crazy bullpen market has ruled the day so far. Every team could benefit from someone like new Padre Mason Miller, who is under team control through 2029. So guys like that are going to come at a super high price (with Leo De Vries headlining the package). But there have been affordable prices paid, too. Ryan Helsley would have represented more of a late-inning upgrade than Matz for the Red Sox, though Matz was a priority for Boston. One evaluator familiar with Boston's system said a package headlined by toolsy outfield prospect Miguel Bleis would have been comparable to what the Mets gave up for Helsley. 7) The Marcelo Mayer injury forced the Red Sox to shift Ceddanne Rafaela to second base way more than they'd prefer, but it did clear the outfield logjam in a way that allows everyone to play basically every day. For that reason, the urgency to trade someone like Jarren Duran has lessened. But here's a factor that could come into play this afternoon: The Red Sox know better than anyone that Duran's performance can be volatile, with high peaks and low valleys. One thing working against them a month ago was his poor/mediocre start to the season. His value has risen with a fantastic July that should put him in the AL Player of the Month conversation. That might excite some teams who were wary four weeks ago. 8) As part of their check-ins on veteran starters around baseball in recent weeks, the Red Sox seemed more interested in White Sox righty Aaron Civale than his teammate Adrian Houser. Civale is a Connecticut native and Northeastern alum who has not been shy about wanting to play in Boston. Of course, he has no control over where he goes in this case. It would be a low-cost fall-back. 9) The Red Sox took on the rest of Matz's money before he hits free agency this fall, which equals about $4 million in CBT calculations. They're more than $10 million over the first threshold as is. Boston has $9-10 million to go before crunching up against the next CBT threshold of $261 million. That would seem to be hard to get to. But one executive who has had talks with the Red Sox has said money is a factor in their negotiations. There's always the possibility of a John Henry-imposed budget, which in this case would be higher than the ones he has installed in previous seasons. 10) It's a small thing, but a 40-man crunch isn't going to play a big role this afternoon. The Red Sox effectively had two free spaces on their roster with Hunter Dobbins and Tanner Houck being 60-day injured list candidates. BETTING: The Red Sox are +850 to win the AL East over on BetMGM. Ben Johnson and Dennis Allen give injury updates on two key defenders who have missed time during Bears training camp
Ben Johnson and Dennis Allen give injury updates on two key defenders who have missed time during Bears training camp originally appeared on A to Z Sports. The Chicago Bears are seven days into training camp and the competition continues to heat coach Ben Johnson noted early Thursday morning that today's practice is expected to be the longest yet with the staff hoping to see certain players separate themselves from the pack before having a players' day competition and battles continue to roll on, the Bears have continued to be without two key defenders for the majority of camp in cornerback Jaylon Johnson and rookie defensive lineman Shemar Turner. Johnson, the team's top cornerback, has missed the entirety of training camp due to a leg injury suffered while training away from the team. Turner, the team's second-round draft choice, left practice last week due to an ankle sprain that's expected to sideline him up to four weeks. When speaking with reporters on Thursday, Johnson provided a little optimism for Johnson's return. "I think there's a scenario where he'll be ready for Week 1," Johnson said. "That's really the target date. I know he's working hard and diligently to get there for that. With those types of injuries that he's got, you just never know."' View the to see embedded media. When it comes to Johnson missing time, defensive coordinator Dennis Allen noted he feels good about the veteran being able to return and make up for the lost for his rookie defensive lineman, it'll be a little more of a challenge to get caught up to speed with the rest of the defense. "It's a challenge," Allen said of Turner. "The thing he's got to be able to do right now is, No. 1, attack the rehab and try to get back out as quickly as he can. And then he's got to make sure he's focused in on the things that he can do in terms of the meetings, because when we're making corrections on the field or in the meeting room, we're not just making corrections for that particular individual that we might be speaking to. We're speaking to the whole room. We've got to be able to coach the hell out of the guys that are out there and try to get him back out as quickly as we can. And then once we get him out there, try to get him caught up to speed as quickly as we can." The timeline for Turner remains at four weeks, which will put him in line for a potential return ahead of the Week 1 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football. If the injury persists longer than that, starting on the IR could be an option as well. As for rookie cornerback Zah Frazier, who's missed all of camp so far, Johnson said he's still dealing with a personal issue and did not elaborate more than story was originally reported by A to Z Sports on Jul 31, 2025, where it first appeared.
