Perranporth Beach in Cornwall is one of the UK's most popular and highly rated beaches, known for its stunning Atlantic views, three miles of golden sand, and excellent surf. Named the sixth most beautiful beach in the UK by Iglu Cruise based on Tripadvisor reviews, it offers a range of activities from swimming and snorkelling to horse riding.
The popular beach is also dog-friendly all year round, although dogs must be on a lead on the main beach during July and August. A great place to escape for an early summer break, beach lovers and their four legged friends have found affordable accommodation just along the coastline.
Haven Holidays offers family-friendly getaways at scenic UK coastal locations, with a wide range of activities and entertainment. One of its most popular parks, Perran Sands, is just a short drive away from the award winning beach at Perranporth.
Perran Sands offers a wide range of activities, from two heated swimming pools to a privately-owned beach that's perfect for surfing. There's also an activity hub with plenty of sports and leisure options to keep everyone entertained.
Nearby, you'll find some of Cornwall's top attractions, including the Eden Project with the world 's largest indoor rainforest, and Paradise Park, a popular wildlife sanctuary home to tropical birds and animals.
On site, visitors can unwind at the Surf Bay restaurant with a Cornish cream tea, enjoy chicken with a side of blues at Slim Chickens or enjoy a drink or two in the Coast Sports Bar.
With a range of accommodation to choose from, a four day mid-week break starts from £170 for a saver caravan in June. Alternatively, guests can glamp it up in a safari tent, yurt or a geo dome for £119 or stay in a chalet for £175.
If Perran Sands isn't quite right, Holywell Bay is just along the coast line, offering caravan accommodation and family friendly entertainment. Run by Parkdean Resorts, the holiday park has a 4.5 out of five-star rating on Tripadvisor.
Alternatively, Sykes Cottages has a wide selection of self catering holiday homes located along the Heritage Coast, with some charming dog-friendly boltholes to be found close to the beach.
For holidaymakers who would prefer to be pampered, the iconic Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa is an iconic adults-only retreat by the sea. Just 20 minutes along the coastline, guests have called it "an amazing place" is a "beautiful location."
A stone's throw from one of the UK's very best beaches, Haven Perran Sands has been given a 4.3 star rating out of five on Google. One visitor said: "My family and I stayed here from 5th to 13th April 2025 in the touring area, and we can confidently say it was one of the best holidays we've ever had. The site is beautifully located, with plenty of nearby attractions to explore, making it perfect for families, couples, or solo adventurers alike."
Another added: "Just got back from a holiday. Best family holiday we have experienced! The entertainment was phenomenal...The beach walk is beautiful for the dogs. And there really is something for everyone!"
Not every guest was quite so impressed. One disappointed visitor left a three-star review that said: "We had a decent time at Haven Perran Sands The Caravan was clean, a few issues like a hole in the curtain but nothing that would affect our holiday. It was a dog friendly bronze caravan so we weren't expecting the Ritz."
One returning visitor called it their "favourite place." They said: "Views are lovely. The coastal walks are amazing. Whole place dog friendly even the beach. The town of Perranporth is so a nice stroll plenty of little quirky shops and restaurants."

But as a result of the Beeching cuts, which saw huge changes to train services as a result of the nationalisation of the railway, they were both closed in 1964. However, there are now fresh plans to revive both stations with services expected to start running as early as 2026. Both will reopen at an estimated cost of £45million. The stations will connect to Exeter, a major transport hub with direct services to London Paddington, Plymouth, Bristol and the Cornish mainline too. Details are yet to be confirmed, but it's likely that when the railway stations reopen, they will join the Great Western Main Line that runs from London Paddington to Penzance. McDonald's in holiday hotspot boasts 'beautiful' surroundings and DJ until 4am

While you might think McDonald's restaurants are not fancy, this chain in a popular holiday spot begs to differ - it is inside a beautiful building where DJs play until 4am and there are light shows People have been left gobsmacked and saying "where has this been all my life" after discovering a unique McDonald's in a popular European party spot. When we travel abroad, many of us like to try out the local cuisine and avoid food spots that we can easily get at home. But, often, some of our favourite brands offer different menus we wouldn't be able to try at home. Plus, if you're partying all night and get the munchies you know you can relay on McDonald's at the end of the night. ‌ While we all know what McDonald's restaurants looks like, the menus vary by location to reflect local tastes and traditions - and there are a few which look nothing like the other eateries, such as the biggest McDonald's restaurant is in Orlando, Florida. ‌ In New Zealand, there is also a McDonald's where food is served from an abandoned aeroplane, plus there is a floating McDonald's service in Germany. Plus recently, fans discovered a rather spectacular McDonald's in Goshen, Indiana, located in what looks like an entire Medieval castle. ‌ Holiday experts at Travel Republic say that there are many more unique McDonald's eateries that many are unaware of - and look completely different to a typical McDonald's. One viral TikTok with almost 128,000 views shows the fast-food chain in Budapest transforming after 10pm with a DJ set and lights. The burger joint is called McDonald's Nygati and it is close to Budapest train station. It first opened in 1990 and even then was said to be one of the most beautiful chains in the world. Some have compared it to a "five star hotel",reports the New York Post. ‌ In 2024 the spot was closed for eight months of renovations, said to have cost over £3.6million. Old features inside have been resorted, touch screen tills have been added plus a new outside area. It boasts antique lamps, painted stucco ceilings, huge glass windows, and large terrace area to enjoy meals outside. Recently a video went viral of one customer, named Elena, showing off the beauty of the McDonald's following a first time visit. The clip showed the eatery looking like a nightclub after 10pm. ‌ On Friday and Saturday nights you can order a Big Mac and boogie on down as the immersive events see the grand ceiling inside the restaurant transform into a light show. You will see everything from a journey through space, fish swimming in the ocean or the jungle. Plus, there are also DJs spinning live decks between 10am and 4am. There are even special food options, including the Goosey Gustav burger, which has foie gras on top, and gluten-free buns. Food can be seen moving through the restaurant on conveyer belts, Elena showed in her video. On Trip Advisor, one individual said: "Worth a visit if you're nearby. It;s situated beside the train station in a beautiful building unlike any other McDonald's I've been too. Service was quick." Another wrote: "The most elegant McDonald's in Europe, on Fridays and Saturdays you dance from 9pm onwards is on the roof are projected lights and animations. Characteristic is the building adjacent to the Budapest train station."

'Underwhelming and overpriced' Scottish landmark is Europe's most overcrowded tourist attraction

Tourists have been left unimpressed by the crowds at this popular visitor spot. Everyone going on holiday knows they'll have to deal with overcrowding at some point. Whether it's the sun-soaked beaches of Mallorca or the Fontana di Trevi in Rome, popular places, inevitably, draw large numbers of tourists. But, in fact, it's an iconic Scottish landmark that has taken the dubious title of the busiest attraction in Europe. Edinburgh Castle has been ranked the busiest destination on the continent. The capital hotspot even placed ahead of Buckingham Palace, which came second on the list from The Thinking Traveller. As reported by the Express, Edinburgh's iconic fortress, which has stood atop Castle Rock since the 11th century, continues to draw huge numbers of visitors from around the world. It was visited by about 2million people in 2024, according to Visit Scotland. While the castle's popularity remains undisputed, not all visitors have been impressed by the experience. Several Tripadvisor reviewers raised concerns over overcrowding, high ticket prices, and the overall value for money. User Joe_Railwayman commented: 'An underwhelming visit. We found certain areas to be very overcrowded and the cafe very expensive. Maps were unclear but may have been a different experience if we had upgraded to include audio guide or tour.' Caz881975 echoed the sentiment, writing: 'Paying over £70 for three Adults and two Children (one Senior) we thought that it was overpriced. We explored most areas, however, in general, I thought it was a place with lots of good viewing points for Edinburgh.' Despite some negative reviews, many visitors have praised the castle for its rich history and panoramic views of the city. Several described the visit as a moving experience, particularly when visiting the Scottish National War Memorial housed within the castle walls. Emwhitnall shared: 'There is so much to explore within the castle walls, I'd recommend getting the audioguide to make the most of the experience. "It was also very moving exploring the war memorial, dedicated to all those who have served for Scotland. Make sure to time your visit if you want to watch the Mons Meg cannon firing as it only happens once a day.' Jason F also left a glowing review, writing: 'What an amazing castle! So much to see and do. We spent half the day here, enjoying the Cafe and many exhibits on display. The views from the castle, of Edinburgh, are amazing.' The fortress remains one of the top attractions in the UK and was recently named fifth in the country in Tripadvisor's annual Travellers' Choice Awards. Its elevated position in the heart of Edinburgh offers spectacular views across the capital, making it a must-see for tourists willing to tackle the steep walk up to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among the highlights within the castle grounds are the Great Hall, St Margaret's Chapel, the One o'clock Gun, the Prisons of War, and The Queen's Embroideries. Visitors are also drawn to the site's connection to figures such as Mary Queen of Scots, whose story is woven into its royal past. In addition to its status as a top destination, Edinburgh Castle also features prominently on Tripadvisor's list of the best experiences in the UK. One of the most popular options is the Guided Walking Tour, where visitors are led through the grounds while learning about the lives of the castle's historic residents. After the guided portion, tourists are free to explore the castle's interior and surrounding grounds at their leisure.
