Google Chrome's latest feature uses AI to provide store summaries
The update, introduced last week through a blog post, has AI-generated store reviews, accessible by clicking an icon next to the web address in the browser.
These summaries will provide shoppers with key information on store reputation, including product quality, pricing, customer service, returns, and overall shopping experience.
The feature, which is currently available only in English, pulls reviews from partners such as Bazaarvoice, Trustpilot, Yotpo, and others.
At launch, it will be available on Chrome for desktop, though Google has not confirmed whether it will be available on mobile devices in the future, as reported by Tech Crunch.

Google's goal with these AI-generated summaries is to enhance the safety and efficiency of online shopping.
The company is positioning this feature as a response to similar AI initiatives from Amazon, which has been using AI to summarise product ratings, offer clothing size recommendations, and more.
This update comes at a time when Google faces increasing competition from new AI-powered browsers, such as Perplexity's Comet and The Browser Company's Dia, which could challenge Chrome's dominance.

As a result, Google is working to integrate AI features more directly into its browser, including developing an AI agent capable of managing Chrome on users' behalf and expanding support for its Gemini AI assistant.
The AI-powered store summaries are part of a broader initiative by Google to create a more modern shopping platform, with the company also exploring AI-powered tools for personalised product recommendations, price tracking, and agentic checkout.

Reddit reaping the rewards of AI strategy
Reddit's shares jumped 15 per cent before the bell on Friday after it reported quarterly results that exceeded Street expectations, boosting investor confidence in the platform's AI-based advertising tools and strong user engagement, reported Reuters. The company's rosy outlook comes on the heels of similarly upbeat results from ad industry leaders such as Meta and Alphabet, underscoring a broader sector shift as advertisers gravitate towards platforms that provide artificial-intelligence tools to create more personalised campaigns. The company expects third-quarter revenue of between $535 million and $545 million, well above analysts' average estimate of $473 million, according to data compiled by LSEG. Reddit's focus on understanding user intent through authentic community conversations positions it to unlock new monetisation opportunities, said Danni Hewson, head of financial analysis at AJ Bell. "Being able to home in on exactly the kind of consumer who might be open to splurge on what a seller is offering has made sites like Reddit hugely popular with advertisers," Hewson said. Reddit's results, along with those of Google and Meta, signal the ad industry's resilience in the face of growing economic uncertainty brought on by shifting US trade policy. The company's diverse ad offerings, including ads inserting brands directly within conversations on its subreddit discussions, remain attractive to marketers. Reddit's daily active unique visitors increased 21 per cent, with analysts saying stabilising daily active user trends are bolstering investor confidence in the platform's "long-term growth narrative". Despite variable Google-driven traffic posing a headwind in the second quarter, Reddit's US daily active users held steady, expressing confidence that the company's unique content was valuable to both Google and searchers, analysts at Piper Sandler said. The company has been investing in new products, search capabilities and international expansion to offset inconsistent user traffic. If premarket gains hold, Reddit is set to add about $4 billion to its market cap.

Pakistan's first bilingual tracking app launched
KARACHI: Falcon-i, the country's largest IoT fleet management company, has launched Pakistan's first bilingual tracking app. The app offers full functionality in English and Urdu for its users, making tracking accessible and convenient for everyone. According to the details, the addition of Urdu to the app's navigational languages, alongside English, is a breakthrough in the fleet management industry, ensuring its reach and usability for users nationwide. Now, users can use live vehicle monitoring, biometric login, remote immobilization, and trip history features in their preferred language. This offers an easy solution to people who find Urdu more convenient, making the app accessible to people from diverse locations and backgrounds. The launch of this bilingual app is particularly notable in Pakistan's fleet management landscape, where fleet usage is rising in semi-urban and rural markets, but tech adoption is inconsistent due to language barriers. The app's growing user base in regions such as southern Punjab, interior Sindh, and northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa makes the inclusion of the national language, Urdu, to the app timely and necessary. Falcon-i plans to add more languages to the app in the future, facilitating use for more people looking for options in their local language. It will offer better opportunities for people who wish to use these apps but are restricted due to language barriers. Falcon-i's bilingual tracking app is integrated with AI, machine learning, and embedded insurance for efficient vehicle tracking regardless of your language preference. The dual-language experience sets a precedent for other technology providers in the country, challenging the industry norms of English-only user interfaces and encouraging the inclusion of more languages to facilitate the users. It enables the users to not only monitor their fleet nationwide and internationally, but also ensure the safety of their private-use vehicles with Falcon-i's next-gen tracking and update systems. Google unveils Gemini 2.5 Deep Think, its most advanced AI model
Google has introduced Gemini 2.5 Deep Think, its most advanced AI reasoning model, capable of processing multiple ideas at once to provide the best solution. This new model runs multiple agents in parallel, using computational resources to explore various possibilities before selecting the most accurate answer. Unveiled in May 2025 at Google I/O, Gemini 2.5 Deep Think is the first publicly available multi-agent AI from the company. It recently helped Google win a gold medal at the International Math Olympiad (IMO), where its version solved complex mathematical problems. For researchers, scientists, and academics tackling hard problems: Gemini 2.5 Deep Think is here. 🤯 It doesn't just answer, it brainstorms using parallel thinking and reinforcement learning techniques. We put it into the hands of mathematicians who explored what it can do ↓ — Google DeepMind (@GoogleDeepMind) August 1, 2025 Available to Google's Ultra plan subscribers, priced at $250 per month, Gemini 2.5 Deep Think is housed in the Gemini app. Google is now sharing its IMO-winning model with a select group of academics and researchers. Unlike traditional models, this system can take hours to reason, making it invaluable for academic use cases, as reported by Tech Crunch. Gemini 2.5 Deep Think also performed impressively on the Humanity's Last Exam (HLE), scoring 34.8%, surpassing competitors like xAI's Grok 4 and OpenAI's o3. The AI integrates with tools like code execution and Google Search, providing more detailed and creative responses than most models. It has shown potential to transform fields like research and development. While multi-agent systems are more resource-intensive than traditional models, Google has made the Gemini 2.5 Deep Think available through its premium subscription to fund the necessary infrastructure. Google plans to roll out Gemini 2.5 Deep Think to select testers via the Gemini API to understand its use in business and development, further solidifying its AI leadership.
