Nigerian Man Held with Cocaine in Mumbai Claims Innocence, Says Bag Was Planted
However, the accused, Frank Chibuzar Nandi, has claimed that the narcotics were planted on him and that he has been falsely implicated in the case.
According to police, acting on a specific tip-off, officers laid a trap near PJ Colony, Orlem Marve Road in Malad, and intercepted Nandi, who was reportedly carrying a bag. Upon searching the bag, police said they recovered 200 grams of white powder suspected to be a narcotic substance.
A field drug test confirmed it to be cocaine. Police also seized a Honda City car from Nandi's possession.
A panchnama was drawn on the spot, and Nandi was produced before the Holiday Court on Sunday. While the police sought custody for further investigation, the accused told the court that he had been framed.

Kochi: Keralite nurse Nimisha Priya, currently on death row at the central prison in Yemen's capital Sana'a for the murder of a Yemeni national, is scheduled to be executed on July 16, according to human rights activist Samuel Jerome, who holds the power of attorney for Nimisha's mother Prema Kumari. However, there has been no official confirmation of the execution date from the Indian embassy in Yemen, ministry of external affairs (MEA) or Save Nimisha Priya Action Council. Jerome said the execution order was issued by the public prosecutor's office and handed over to prison authorities, who fixed July 16 as the date. She allegedly chopped his body and dumped the body parts in a water tank. Mahdi had reportedly tortured Nimisha and illegally seized her passport, which led to the murder. A trial court sentenced her to death in 2018, a verdict later upheld by an appeals court. Jerome said Nimisha and the MEA had been informed of the execution decision. Awareness first line of defence against cybercrime, says Gurgaon top cop
Gurgaon: The city saw an uptick in cybercrime cases, with more than a 17-fold increase in 2024 compared to 2021. Cybercrime recorded a skyrocketing trend from 79 to 1,300 cases by last year. Meanwhile, police action in terms of arrests also reflected a corresponding rise, though there was a substantial gap between the cases reported and arrests made. According to data obtained by TOI through a Right to Information (RTI) query, the number of cyber fraud cases registered by the city police showed a steep and alarming rise over the past few years, highlighting the growing threat of digital crimes in the region. Cyber fraud cases rose significantly to 216 in 2022, from 79 a year ago. The upward trend continued in 2023, with 589 cases recorded, and surged further in 2024, reaching a staggering 1,358 cases. However, there were zero arrests in 2021 despite the 79 cases registered that year. In 2022, 157 people were arrested in connection with cyber fraud cases, followed by 403 arrests in 2023. The number jumped to 1,064 in 2024.
