Tottenham wonderkid Mikey Moore 'set' for Rangers loan transfer as Martin wins battle for history-maker

The 17-year-old has made a dozen top team Spurs appearances but Thomas Frank will let him head out on loan
Rangers are reportedly favourites to sign Tottenham Hotspur wonderkid Mikey Moore.

The Europa League winners are willing to send the 17-year-old starlet out on loan this season.

And despite stiff competition from south of the border, Russell Martin 's Light Blues are said to be favourites to land the player.

The Daily Telegraph report that: " Rangers have emerged as favourites to sign Mikey Moore on loan from Tottenham. There's been a lot of interest, particularly from the Championship, but Rangers seen as most likely destination."
England youth international Moore has made a dozen first team appearances for Spurs.
He also made history at the north London club when, at 17 years and 172 days, he became England's youngest-ever scorer in a major competition when he netted against Elfsborg in the Europa League - breaking a record set by the legendary Jimmy Greaves.
Spurs wanted to keep Moore at the club this season but new boss Thomas Frank has reluctantly agreed to let him go out on loan for more first team football.
Former boss Ange Postecoglou admitted his rapid rise had come quicker than expected last year, saying: 'We've exposed Mikey a hell of a lot more than I thought we would at the start of the year.
'He only just started playing Under-21 football last year and he had some injuries, didn't play a lot. It was kind of touch-and-go at the start of the year, do we let him bed in with the 21s or give him a loan or keep him with us?
'But my thing was to let him train for a year, train with men, train in the first team environment and see how he adapts.
'At the end of that, he'll still be 17 or 18 and we can make decisions, but he's played a lot more than we thought. But he's very much a part of our set-up in the first-team and he's training every day.'

Kilmarnock 2-2 Livingston: What Martindale said

Livingston boss David Martindale told BBC Scotland: "I'm happy to come out with the point. We were a wee bit unfortunate not to come out with the win, but we're architects of our own downfall going in at 2-0 down."That felt a bit harsh, but we've only got ourselves to blame. They were two really poor goals to lose. That was the only two shots on target. "I spoke to the players about that - that's the difference between the Championship and the Premiership. We'd have gone in at 0-0 in the Championship, gotten away with those mistakes."We changed the shape, flipped to a 3-5-2. That gets us the penalty, the red card, the opportunities open up. We changed the shape back to a 4-3-3, brought [Lewis] Smith on, and the overloads were in our favour. That's where we got the second goal from."You've got to give Kilmarnock credit for defending the area, they did that really well."The players have to take huge credit, they showed real resilience. The subs really helped the game. It was something we had in abundance last year so it's nice to see it transitioning into this year. The character the players showed was exactly what you want as a manager."

Brian Barry-Murphy hails youthful Cardiff after second-half fightback

Victory gave Barry-Murphy a winning start to his reign, having taken over in the summer following the Bluebirds' relegation from the Championship. He selected Cardiff's youngest team this century, only to see Posh take the lead through a Brad Ihionvien penalty in the 33rd minute. But skipper Rubin Colwill levelled with a fine free-kick shortly after half-time before 18-year-old Ronan Kpakio grabbed the winner. 'We saw a lot of potential out there and the style with which the boys played was evident throughout,' said Barry-Murphy. 'We didn't create as many chances in the first half as we would have liked given the positions we got into. When we arrived in behind their defensive line we had good moments but couldn't find the right selection. 'In the second half, the players' application and understanding to keep doing the same things and to repeat that was evident. I was pleased with that application overall. 'When you get to half-time and you are losing 1-0 in a game you feel you should be winning, it is very easy to start changing things because you think they aren't working. 'So I just reminded the players about how well they had done and told them never to take a step back. 'They told me they would do that and they were true to their word. They were really aggressive in how they wanted to win the ball back off a good team, who were really dangerous when they played beyond our pressure. 'They showed personality and I was very proud of their aggression on a day when so much was expected of them.' Sir Alex Ferguson was at the Cardiff City Stadium to watch his son Darren's Peterborough side. And Darren Ferguson felt he could scarcely have had a tougher start to the campaign. 'This was probably the hardest start to the season we could have had – Cardiff City away in their first game in League One,' he said. 'The free-kick for their goal was a fantastic strike and it was a big moment in the game because it got the crowd up. It changed the whole momentum. 'But it's the edge of the box and we gave it away. We should never be in that position in the first minute of the second half. 'We were poor on the ball in the middle of the park and the lads know that we weren't good enough. Too many times we turned the ball over again and we gave it back to them. 'If you're playing against a team that want to keep possession in the way they're doing, that's very expensive. You have to be good on the ball to stop them having it all the time and we weren't.'
