Miss Frisky
Yes, it is Frisky of Frisky and Mannish fame and yes it is solo Frisky this year as the Queen of pop-mash-parodic-stereophonic-vaudevillian-infotainment returns to the Edinburgh Fringe with her own band. Better still, the band are all Scottish based performers at the top of their game – what's not to love. Frisky promises the same quick quips and amazing three octaves of talent but places control into the hands of the audience. Frisky's Reshuffle is just that, a new playlist each night decided by yours truly. While Mannish aka Matthew Floyd Jones popped off to compose and provide musical direction for such smashes as Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder!, Frisky has been one of the most in demand cabaret emcees across London, with residencies around Europe and gigs the world over.
Barnie Duncan
But not as you know him. Cut DJ and calypso and soca expert Juan Vesuvius built up a following in the 2010s with Calypso Nights; Juan, Two and I am your Deejay, and in 2025, the man hiding under the samba sleeves, Barnie Duncan, steps onto the stage for his debut stand-up show. In the comic's surreal and subversive style, Oooky Pooky takes down the manosphere with playful, physical comedy as performed for NZ Prime Minster Jacinda Arden.
Michael Elsener
If you're a fan of a late-night Edinburgh Fringe line-up show, or Russel Howard, you will already know Michael. But, despite having the nickname 'the Swiss John Oliver' – this may be your introduction to the political comedian who asks if his secret Swiss recipe can save the world. Fresh from supporting Russell Howard on his European Tour and Winner of Best Solo Show at the Swiss Comedy Awards 2024, Michael Elsener holds the keys to paradise. Will you join him there?
Jonny Woo
Legendary East End London performer Jonny Woo heads to arts venue Summerhall with a new show, Surbubia, about his life growing up, the stories of queer elders who weren't afforded the respect they deserved. A return to his spoken word, storytelling and performance art roots, Suburbia brings audiences on a heady journey from the Medway suburbs, through the streets of New York and. And not shying away from how we usually see Jonny Woo, in Night at the Musicals with Le Gateau Chocolat or in a drag line up show - of course, there's a musical number or two.
Dangerous Goods
Just shy of 10 years ago, a cohort of incredible women took the festival by storm, selling out show after show with audiences meeting them across the city in their recognisable tracksuits sharing 'smash the patriarchy' moments with fans. They were Hot Brown Honey. The creative team behind Hot Brown Honey, including co-creator, director and performer Lisa Fa'alafi are back with Dangerous Goods. Hot Brown Honey conquered Glastonbury, the Southbank Centre London, Freedom Festival Hull and Dublin Fringe all from the initial outpouring of love they experienced at the Edinburgh Fringe. The co-directors Fa'alafi and Leah Shelton say: 'Depending on who you ask, different voices throughout history have been seen as dangerous. The systems that govern our everyday lives are often the ones defining this notion and we see it still today molding our opinions of each other.' This new show claims to be empowering, unapologetic, hot-as-hell cabaret.

Sir Alex was at the Auchenhowie training centre earlier in the week and caught up with some of Rangers' current staff and players. Rangers Women captain Nicola Docherty shared a picture of herself alongside the managerial great in the training centre as she beamed on social media: "Met a legend today, Sir Alex!" But she wasn't the only one who managed to grab the 83-year-old for a picture. Ferguson was also spotted in Glasgow's city centre as he headed to a popular restaurant which has previously hosted other celebrities affiliated with Rangers, including Gordon Ramsay. The restaurant he visited was Ox and Finch in Sauchiehall Street. The much-loved diner closed for refurbishments last year, leaving locals and regulars gutted. But it reopened in April and it's as popular as ever with their latest additions, including an outdoor dining space. Ferguson was the latest big-name to enjoy a meal at the eatery as delighted staff shared pictures alongside the Man Utd and Aberdeen legend. Head chef Craig Nelson uploaded a photo on Instagram showing him standing next to the icon and other members of staff. 'What did he expect?' - Sir Alex Ferguson looks 'absolutely disgusted' in new footage from Man Utd Europa League loss He wrote: "An unforgettable honour to cook for a true legend." Many of the chef's followers were just as excited to see Sir Alex in the popular venue. One person wrote: "Fabulous Craig. 💛" Another said: "Great picture!" While a third added: "Brilliant 🙌" Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Stephen Colbert's The Late Show cancelled after 8 years as fans fume at decision

The popular US late night talk show host previously comically "backed" Scottish independence in one of his 2014 skits The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will disappear from TV screens in a year's time after being cancelled. Stephen rose to fame presenting the satirical news show The Colbert Report on Comedy Central from 2005 until 2014. ‌ He succeeded David Letterman as presenter of The Late Show on CBS, a subsidiary of Paramount Global. On July 17, CBS announced that The Late Show will end its " historic run" in May 2026 at the end of the broadcast season. ‌ "We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire the 'THE LATE SHOW' franchise at that time," a CBS spokesperson said. ‌ "We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late-night television." The broadcaster explained the reasoning behind the move, stating: "This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. ‌ "It is not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount." Colbert himself delivered the news to his viewers during Thursday's programme, announcing: "Before we start the show, I want to let you know something I found out just last night. Next year will be our last season. "The network will be ending 'The Late Show' in May." ‌ Supporters flocked to social media to voice their outrage over the programme's axing. "I'm absolutely not ready to NOT have Stephen Colbert on my TV at night," one fumed on X, previously Twitter, while another said: "CBS letting Stephen Colbert go is BS! Boycott CBS," reports the Mirror. Back in 2014, Colbert comically backed Scottish independence and even played out the famous scene from Braveheart of Mel Gibson on his programme - with a minor edit to the dialogue. ‌ "Folks, any time people are angrily demanding something and I don't entirely understand why, I am with them," Colbert said in a night segment on The Colbert Report. "I stand with my secessionist brothers... Today, I, Stephen Colbert, am a proud Scotsman. Ich bin ein Edinburgher." ‌ He added: "They may take our lives, but they will never take our freedom to calculate pension benefits, rates of inflation or earnings. Whichever is higher." Multiple viewers have speculated that the programme's termination could be connected to the broadcaster's recent legal agreement with President Trump, considering Stephen's vocal condemnation of the President. Paramount Global is presently combining with Skydance Media, a transaction that needs approval from the Federal Communications Commission. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! "Just days after Paramount announces it settles the lawsuit Trump brought against them, they announce they are cancelling Stephen Colbert. Can't help but think the cancelling of Stephen Colbert's show was part of the settlement that Paramount agreed to. It's so obvious," one viewer remarked. Another expressed their unease: "I'm not going to pretend that Stephen Colbert is perfect or anything, but it really does not sit right with me that this news comes just after Paramount settled with Trump and in the midst of merging with Skydance Media. This just feels like textbook censorship, plain and simple."
