Boy, 10, killed in coach crash named
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed on Monday that formal identification had been carried out and his family were being supported by a specially trained officer.
Five people, including two children, remain in hospital following Thursday's accident.
A major incident was declared after a coach carrying Minehead Middle School pupils left the road near Wheddon Cross in Somerset and slid down a 20ft (6m) slope.
Ch Supt Mark Edgington, from Avon and Somerset Police, said the force's thoughts were "first and foremost with Oliver's family at what must be an unimaginably difficult time".
"Our investigation is now well under way with officers working tirelessly to find out what caused it," he added, explaining that this was "likely to take some time".
It is understood that those still in hospital are now in a stable condition, the force said.
Officers have been "working closely" with other agencies and the school to make sure support was in place for anyone affected by the news.
"We are extremely grateful for all the support that's been received locally. This clearly shows how special and close-knit this community is," Ch Supt Edgington added.

Police made a huge find after stopping and searching a 'suspicious' man in Piccadilly Gardens on Saturday night (July 26). Scottish easyJet passengers tackle man who 'shouted about bomb' on flight
The moment brave Scottish passengers tackled a man who allegedly shouted he "had a bomb" on an easyJet flight was caught on camera. In a clip the man appeared to say he wanted to "send a message to Donald Trump" He was hauled off the EZY609 flight from London Luton after it touched down at Glasgow Airport at around 8.20am on Sunday, July 27. Death to America. Death to Trump", reports The Record. Shocked passengers can be seen watching on as the man continued to scream at the top of his voice at the back of the plane. One man got out of his seat and tackled him to the ground before another pinned him to the ground and said "don't move". It's understood some passengers were left in tears as the man was handcuffed and removed from the plane by police. Officers have since confirmed the 41-year-old has been arrested following the "disturbance". Their investigations into the incident are ongoing. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a man causing a disturbance on a flight arriving in Glasgow around 8.20am on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Homeowners worried after several late-night arson attacks
An appeal has been launched after several arson incidents took place on one road. Pipers Close, in Haverhill, has been a target for four arson incidents in four weeks. Homeowners are concerned and police are looking for those responsible. In the first incident, a wheelie bin and 15ft of fencing were set on fire just before midnight on June 21. READ MORE: Number of Ipswich Town fans arrested last season revealed In the second incident on July 12 at 2.04am, a stationary, unattended trailer parked in a parking area was set alight. The third incident saw a wheelie bin set alight close to a home on July 14 at 12.10am. The final incident involved a garden gate and fence set on fire sometime between 3.15am and 3.28am on July 23. Suffolk police confirmed "numerous" inquiries had been made and evidence has been found, but no suspect/s identified.
