Teams wanted for fun challenge at 2025 Mold Carnival
The carnival takes place on Sunday, July 6, at Maes Bodlonfa Park, and this year promises even more fun with the return of this wacky, action-packed team competition inspired by the classic BBC show.

Think inflatable obstacles, silly costumes, foam, water, and big laughs. Gather a team of 10 adults, bring your energy, and compete for the title of Mold Carnival Knockout Champions 2025!
How to Enter:
• Pre-registration is required - no entries on the day.
• Team size: 10 adults (18+ only, minimum height 1.4m)
• Entry fee: £150 per team
• Team limit: Only 18 teams can compete, so don't delay, enter today!
• Duration of games: Approx. 3-4 hours

Jane Evans, Mold Town Council's events and community engagement officer, said: "Mold Carnival is always a brilliant day out for all ages. This year, we wanted to bring something a bit different, and nostalgic, to the event to get the community involved.
"I loved watching It's A Knockout growing up - it looked so much fun. So we're inviting teams to enter the competition, all teams can also join in the carnival parade pre game; wear fancy dress or your logo'ed T-shirts and make some noise as the parade makes it's way through the town onto the carnival fields, really make a day of it.

"Bring your supporters, your banners, and your best game face and join us for a fantastic day of fun, laughter, and community spirit - and see if your team has what it takes to be crowned Mold Carnival Knockout Champions!"
Jane added: "It's A Knockout is just one part of a fun-packed carnival day. Highlights include: The Football Association of Wales inflatable football festival. Special appearances from Transformers Bumblebee and Optimus Prime, crazy science workshops for kids. Popular entertainer DJ Cookie, back for his 14th year - supporting the event free of charge.

"We will have live performances, character visits, community entertainment, and even a visit from the Army and closing the carnival stage this year will be popular local band 50Hertz."
Entry to the July 6 carnival is completely free.

Oti Mabuse ‘delighted' as she receives Freedom of the City of London
The 34-year-old South African has been recognised for her 'significant achievements in contemporary dance and her charitable work'. Mr Hayward is the policy chairman of the City of London Corporation, while Mr Bottomley is the sheriff-elect of the City of London. Former Strictly head judge Goodman died in 2023 aged 78. Mabuse won Strictly in 2019 and 2020 and has also appeared on The Greatest Dancer as a dance captain and as a judge on ITV's Dancing on Ice. Mr Hayward said: 'Having won a clutch of dance titles during her career and a place in our hearts, mostly, down to her appearances on the hugely popular 'Strictly', I am sure that Oti's Freedom will be welcomed warmly by her many admirers. 'Away from the dance world, her work with Unicef to raise awareness of the support needed by premature babies and their mothers, is highly commendable, and I am very happy to join my colleague, Keith Bottomley, in nominating Oti for the Freedom.' Mr Bottomley said: 'As well as impressing us on the dance floor, Oti Mabuse's charitable work with women and young people in communities across London, and overseas with Unicef, deserves our admiration and respect. 'It has been a pleasure to nominate Oti to be admitted into the Freedom, and I am sure that she will have very happy memories of today for many years to come.' The tradition of the freedom of the city is believed to date back to 1237. Ozzy Osbourne lauded as 'huge trailblazer' by heartbroken friend Sir Elton John
Ozzy Osbourne died on Tuesday, and tributes have poured in from celebrities everywhere - including Sir Elton John, Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood and former footballer Sir David Beckham Sir Elton John has said Ozzy Osbourne was a "huge trailblazer" who "secured his place in the pantheon of rock gods". He joined Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood and other famous faces in paying tribute to the Black Sabbath singer after his death on Tuesday. Sir Elton posted on Instagram: "So sad to hear the news of Ozzy Osbourne passing away. "He was a dear friend and a huge trailblazer who secured his place in the pantheon of rock gods - a true legend. He was also one of the funniest people I've ever met. I will miss him dearly. To Sharon and the family, I send my condolences and love. Elton xx." Wood joined Osbourne at Black Sabbath's last gig at Villa Park, Birmingham, earlier this month. He posted on X: "I am so very sad to hear of the death of Ozzy Osbourne. The first episode of season 11 for the popular BBC series aired last Tuesday. Contestants were examined on their ability to create shape, including the Made to Measure challenge. After beginning to sew in the late 1950s, she has since thrived and teaches her granddaughter how to sew. Now 33, she picked up sewing again during Lockdown and has since been flourishing ever since.
