Apple AirPods Pro 2 down to cheapest price in a year for Amazon for Prime Day

Dublin Live4 days ago
Amazon's Prime Week is upon us, and for Apple enthusiasts looking to bag a bargain, the AirPods Pro 2 are available at a steal.
Indeed, one of Apple's most sought-after earbuds is currently priced at €207 - the lowest it's been in the past year, according to Amazon. In total, Apple aficionados can relish a hefty 22 per cent discount.
The Apple AirPods Pro 2 are top-tier noise-cancelling earbuds on the market - ideal for bustling commutes, travel, or simply drowning out background chatter. The Pro 2s also boast the new H2 chip which helps to create deeply immersive sound. The low-distortion, custom-built driver delivers crisp, clear high notes and full, rich bass in stunning definition.
Voice Isolation enhances the quality of phone calls in noisy environments. They also cut out more background noise to protect your hearing, reports the Mirror.
They can even be used to check your hearing, following a free update introduced in February this year. The Hearing Aid feature includes a clinically validated hearing test and a hearing profile that applies to all the music and podcasts you listen to.
But there are plenty of alternatives on the market to choose from, both discounted in Amazon's biggest sale of the year and elsewhere. For a cheaper price, the JBL Tune Beam Wireless Bluetooth Noise-Cancelling Earbuds in black for €57.91 offer noise-cancelling at a much cheaper price as well as 12 hours of battery life.
Meanwhile on Amazon, tech shoppers can get Soundcore by Anker's P20i wireless earbuds at a 47% discount, down to €18.58, with the affordable model having an average rating of 4.4 stars out of 5 from over 65,000 reviews. For those eyeing a deal on Apple earbuds, the AirPods 4 are available on Amazon for €130.91.
Although they are the more budget-friendly and recently updated option, note they do not feature noise cancellation. In the Daily Express, tech experts reviewed the Apple AirPods Pro 2 upon their release and were impressed by their amazing sound and effective noise cancellation, giving them a top score.
In the review, Dave Snelling, tech editor, said: "AirPods Pro 2 arrive with superior noise-cancellation, better sound quality, longer battery life, and a new way to find them when they (inevitably) disappear down the side of your sofa. Apple has also added the ability to control volume from the stem of each AirPod, which saves you the hassle of reaching for your iPhone when you want to pump the bass.
"Elsewhere, AirPods Pro 2 – also known as "2nd Generation" – can be recharged using an Apple Watch charger (as well as Lightning cable, and standard Qi wireless charging) and can be used with a lanyard loop to attach to your belongings."
The reviewer praised the new AirPods Pro 2, stating: "We've been wearing the new AirPods Pro 2 on our daily commute, and they sound very impressive. Sound is rich, plus the improved Active Noise-Cancellation (ANC) cuts out almost all annoying background noise, so you won't have to have your favourite album, audiobook or podcast cranked up to 11 to hear it on the train. We were already huge fans of the original AirPods Pro, and this latest refresh only makes things better."
However, they also expressed concerns about the price, saying that even with the 20% discount for Prime Day, the £179 price tag remains a significant investment. They also criticised the lack of colour options, saying: "At £249, Apple's wireless 'buds are ludicrously expensive and it's a shame Apple still refuses to introduce some much-needed colour – AirPods Pro are only available in plain white. Unlike some other wireless earbuds, there's no EQ in the settings so you won't be able to adjust the audio to suit your tastes."

How to stop your iPhone BREAKING in the heat – protect your mobile NOW

IT'S not just us feeling the heat this weekend - but our phones are too. As the mercury Advertisement 2 Hot weather can force your iPhone to temporarily shut down while it cools off An amber heat health alert has been issued for six regions across England, that will remain in place until Monday. This includes The West Midlands, East Midlands, South East, South West, London, and East of England. The UK Health Security Agency-issued warning means there's an increase in risk to health for people aged over 65 or those with pre-existing health conditions, including respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. But that's not the only warning to watch out for. Advertisement Read more about iPhone As well as themselves, Brits need to take special care of their expensive gadgets. Overheating can cause your smartphone to temporarily shut down – and can also damage your battery. Here are seven ways to protect your smartphone – be it an iPhone or Android handset – in hot weather. 1. Keep it out of direct sunlight Make sure to keep your iPhone cool by keeping it out of direct sunlight on hotter days. Advertisement Most read in Tech It may sound obvious, but using your device while it's soaking up extra heat from the sun can cause significant damage. Letting your iPhone get too toasty could trigger a worrying pop-up that shuts your phone down. Apple interview with Greg Joz Joswiak on new artificial intelligence, screening, hold assist, carplay, liquid glass and ios updates Even Apple has warned that letting your iPhone temperature rise too high could "permanently shorten battery life". "Low - or high-temperature conditions might cause the device to change its behaviour," Apple explains. Advertisement High temperatures can mess up your battery life for good. "Using an iOS or iPadOS device in very hot conditions can permanently shorten battery life," an Apple support post reads. 2. Remove the case Another way to help your iPhone cool down is to remove any case you move have slapped on. While they're a useful way to protect your device from scratches and drops, they also act as an insulating layer that can trap heat. Advertisement This is particularly true if you use a leather or rubber case, which are excellent insulators. It may be worth weighing up whether – on hotter days – your case is doing more damage than good. 3. Turn off your phone If your phone is getting too hot, switching it off is a good way to ensure it doesn't sustain any long-term damage. This is a good way to shut down the processor, battery and any other parts that can get especially toasty. Advertisement Of course, this leaves you unable to use your phone, so is not a permanent solution and should only be used in emergencies. Alternatively, you can just stop using your phone for five minutes to give it a chance to cool down. 4. Change your settings Changing your phone's settings is another way to help it to keep cool on scorching days. For instance, turning your screen's brightness down uses less of your phone's battery and so causes it to heat up less. Advertisement If your phone automatically turns brightness to max when you're outside, consider turning this off. Also by turning your data off, you're saving battery which is also closely linked to phone temperature. Turning your phone onto low-power mode can also help fix the issue. 5. Don't push your phone to the limit Avoid using power-hungry apps for long periods of time. Advertisement This is particularly important for gamers, because graphics-intensive game apps can cause a phone's processor to heat up very quickly. Certain features, such as GPS and gaming, can also cause problems when used in hot conditions or direct sunlight for an extended period of time. 6. Don't leave your phone in your pocket Don't put your iPhone in confined places, like under bed covers or in your pocket. Your trousers or shorts can act as an insulating layer that traps heat around your device. Advertisement This is particularly true if you're wearing something tight, such as skinny-fit jeans, that holds onto air more effectively. 7. Leave it somewhere cool If none of the above work, you can always try storing your phone somewhere cool. This might be under an electric fan or even in one of the cupboards in your kitchen. It is not recommended that you store your phone in the fridge or freezer, however, as this can damage it. Advertisement 2 Overheating can tank your iPhone's battery life Credit: Alamy

Fast ways to make your cheap TV feel like a £2,000 super-telly – with better picture and loads of free channels

GOT a budget TV and want to make it better? There are some easy ways to upgrade it. There are loads of cheap telly models that come in at £200 to £300 – so if you'd rather not splash £2,000, you might as well super-charge the screen you've already got. Advertisement 8 Want to turn your budget telly into a supercharged entertainment system? There are some easy ways to do it Credit: Samsung 8 High-end TVs are great if you've got the budget – but not everyone needs to splash out on a top model Credit: Samsung TV SETTINGS MAKEOVER First off, make sure that you're using the best picture settings for movie night. One major offender is Videos are just lots of images shown very quickly. Your TV's refresh rate tells you how many times it does this per second. Modern TVs often have a refresh rate of 60Hz, meaning they refresh the image on screen every 60 seconds. But Hollywood flicks are typically produced at 24 frames per second. Advertisement Read more on TV tech This mismatch is part of what gives movies their charm. But Motion Smoothing artificially inserts fake frames to bring content up to 60 frames per second. This means you'll end up with very smooth footage, which is great for fast-paced sport – but not for watching The Godfather. Look for settings like Motion Smoothing, Motion Interpolation, or Motion Plus, and turn them off for movie night. There's also another setting available on lots of TV brands called Filmmaker Mode. Advertisement Most read in Phones & Gadgets Hot Deals This will turn Motion Smoothing off itself, but also tweaks TV settings to look as good as possible for movies. Look out for that and switch it on. Amazon finally launches Luna streaming service in the US with free games for Prime members And finally, consider turning Power Saver Mode off. It's great for trimming energy bills , but it'll typically reduce brightness to limit power demand. Advertisement So if you've got a movie you really want to watch, try turning Energy Saver features off. BOOST YOUR SPEED Budget TVs are a great way to save money – but it also means the telly maker has cut costs too. 8 Plugging in an Apple TV 4K is a far cheaper way to upgrade your telly than buying an ultra-high-end one Credit: Apple Often that means stuffing a very cheap (and not particularly powerful) processor inside. Advertisement You'll experience that in the form of laggy menus, and channels and apps loading up slowly. There's no real way to fix this without upgrading your television, which is costly. So instead, just get around it – and by a speedy streaming gadget instead. If you bag yourself one of the more powerful plug-in streamers, like an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max (£70) or an Advertisement That's because when your TV is using that streamer, it'll be running off the plug-in device's processor instead. So with an Apple TV 4K, you'll have extremely snappy menus that feel lightning fast compared to a budget telly. It's one of the easiest ways to upgrade a TV, and it's significantly cheaper than forking out for an uber luxe telly with a powerful processor inside. 8 You can also plug in an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max for an easy upgrade Credit: Amazon Advertisement BONUS HDMI PORTS Cheap gadget that gives you even more ports on TV If you've bought a TV in the past two decades, chances are that it has HDMI ports. These are the common ports that let you plug in other devices, like game consoles or a laptop via a cable. TVs typically come with between two and four of these, though sometimes you'll find more. Advertisement 8 Make sure you have enough HDMI ports for your telly needs Credit: Samsung Sadly in the modern age, it's easy to run out of them. You might have an Amazon Fire TV Stick, an Xbox, a Sky Stream, and the new Nintendo Switch 2. And if you've only got two ports, you're really going to struggle. Advertisement One way to get around this is to buy a HDMI switch. It's a bit like a multi-plug extension cable for HDMI, letting you connect several gadgets to a single port. You can pick them up on Amazon from anywhere between £10 and £40, depending on the number of extra HDMI ports that you want. They'll usually come with a remote that lets you switch between the bonus ports. Advertisement GET FREE CHANNELS TV feels like it's only getting more expensive. 8 Tubi recently launched in the UK and is one of the easiest ways to enjoy free TV without credit cards or sign-ups Credit: Tubi Think about the cost of Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV, and Now TV – and then whatever else you're paying for. Thankfully there are lots of ways to watch telly for free. Advertisement In fact, I recently tested the I was particularly impressed by Tubi and Plex, but there are plenty of other apps worth trying too. NETFLIX 2025 PRICE HIKES REVEALED Here's what you're now paying (and what you get)... Netflix Standard with Ads Price: £5.99 (up £1 from £4.99) Ad-supported, all but a few movies and TV shows available, unlimited mobile games Watch on 2 supported devices at a time Watch in 1080p (Full HD) Download on 2 supported devices at a time Netflix Standard Price: £12.99 (Up £2 from £10.99) Unlimited ad-free movies, TV shows, and mobile games Watch on 2 supported devices at a time Watch in 1080p (Full HD) Download on 2 supported devices at a time Option to add 1 extra member who doesn't live with you Netflix Premium Price: £18.99 (Up £1 from £17.99) Unlimited ad-free movies, TV shows, and mobile games Watch on 4 supported devices at a time Watch in 4K (Ultra HD) + HDR Download on 6 supported devices at a time Option to add up to 2 extra members who don't live with you Netflix spatial audio Picture Credit: Netflix Pluto TV and Rakuten TV are both popular options, as well as Xumo Play (which is available on Sky boxes). All of these apps are totally free, but the catch is that you'll need to sit through ads. Advertisement Of course paid apps like Netflix and Amazon Video are already showing ads on their cheapest streaming tiers. So if you can put up with ads, you'll be able to enjoy an absolute treasure trove of free telly. GAMING UPGRADE Free & cheap games to claim (including free Fortnite without console) If you have an Amazon Prime subscription, you can play top games without a console. Advertisement It works through a service called the games to you – a bit like Netflix, but more interactive. The Amazon Luna app is available on a load of devices including Amazon Fire TV models, plus a bunch of Samsung and LG televisions too. 8 Amazon Luna lets you play games over the internet – rather than needing a physical console Credit: Amazon You'll also need an Amazon Luna controller, or a PlayStation or Xbox joypad. Advertisement Google's Stadia controller also works if you still have one. Then you can pair your controller to your TV and play games over the internet – no console required. Amazon makes a rolling selection of games available as part of Luna free for Prime members. 8 You can even play hit game Fortnite for free on your TV without a console if you're an Amazon Prime member Credit: Amazon Advertisement And Fortnite is a long-term entrant on that list, so you can enjoy it as if you had a console. It's like having an Xbox or PS5 plugged in, but you don't need it.

These represent the right to receive shares in Amazon on a one-for-one basis upon vesting. Typically, employees have to serve between two and five years before the shares vest. Unvested stock for staff who don't fulfil the terms of service is forfeited. The Amazon company is focused on contract research and development for other entities within the Amazon and Amazon Web Services family. The accounts note that it is 'dependent on the continued success of the group of companies'. [ Amazon Web Services says Dublin data centre plan will not have 'significant impact on climate' Opens in new window ] The filing shows its losses narrowed to just under €23 million in 2024 from €33.4 million a year earlier, while turnover declined by 5 per cent to €250.7 million. Its immediate parent company is listed as Sales Inc, based in Seattle. Amazon did not comment on the accounts when contacted. Amazon has been operating in Ireland for more than 20 years. In total, Amazon employs 6,500 people in Cork, Dublin and Drogheda across data centres, Amazon Web Services and its fulfilment centre in Dublin. Among the roles at these operations are data engineers, operations management, and finance.
