Delhi: 268th Session of Rajya Sabha scheduled to commence on July 21

The 268th session of the Rajya Sabha will be scheduled to begin on Monday (July 21), as per the official Parliamentary Bulletin.
According to the Legislative Section, summons were issued to members exclusively through the Members' Portal, and all were informed about the upcoming schedule and business days of the monsoon session.
The session is planned to run from July 21 to August 21, with the House set to adjourn on August 12 and reconvene on August 18 to facilitate Independence Day celebrations.
The timing of the sittings was fixed from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on each working day, unless otherwise notified.
This session is expected to include major legislative discussions and debates, although the detailed agenda had not been released at the time of the bulletin.
Members of Parliament were advised to regularly check the Members' Portal for updates, circulars, and additional instructions regarding the session.
Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu has approved the proposal to hold the Monsoon Session of Parliament from July 21 to August 21, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Wednesday.
There will be no Parliament sittings on August 13 and 14 due to Independence Day celebrations.
The upcoming Monsoon session will be the first Parliament session following Operation Sindoor, which was launched by India on May 7 in response to a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives.
The Budget session of Parliament began on January 31 this year. The Budget Session saw the passage of significant legislation, including the Waqf Amendment Bill.
In the second part of the Session, there were 17 sittings of both Houses. During the entire Budget Session, in total, there were 26 sittings.

NEW DELHI: Day before the start of Parliament Monsoon session, an all-party meeting was convened by the government to seek cooperation for the smooth functioning of the House. However, the meeting quickly turned into a platform for opposition parties to put forward a list of pressing issues they plan to raise during the session. Top among their concerns are the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, US President Donald Trump's repeated claims of brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan and the alleged electoral roll manipulation in Bihar under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. Leaders from across the political spectrum participated in the meeting, setting the stage for the Monsoon session. Key points from the meeting: Government seeks cooperation, opposition flags serious concerns The meeting, aimed at ensuring the smooth conduct of the Monsoon session, was attended by leaders across party lines. The government was represented by Parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju and minister of state Arjun Ram Meghwal. Opposition parties made it clear that cooperation in the House would hinge on the government addressing their key concerns. Congress demands PM's statement on Trump's ceasefire remarks, Pahalgam attack Congress leaders Gaurav Gogoi and Jairam Ramesh participated in the meeting, with Gogoi stating, 'It is incumbent on PM Modi to give a statement in Parliament on the key issues raised by the Congress.' The Congress is pressing for answers regarding the Pahalgam terror attack , where perpetrators remain at large. They are also demanding clarity over Donald Trump's repeated claims that he mediated a ceasefire during India-Pakistan tensions. INDIA bloc sets agenda for Monsoon session The opposition INDIA bloc resolved to prioritise the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor fallout in Parliament. RSP MP NK Premachandran said, 'Revision of the voter list in Bihar and the attitude of the Election Commission will also be raised. Economic issues, foreign policy, and the Ahmedabad plane crash are on the agenda too.' He confirmed that all INDIA bloc members except the Aam Aadmi Party attended a preparatory meeting held earlier. NCP, DMK, RPI(A) among parties present Prominent attendees included Supriya Sule (NCP–Sharad Pawar faction), T R Baalu (DMK), and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale (RPI–A), indicating wide participation across the political spectrum. The government is expected to take note of the opposition's demands ahead of a politically charged session.
