Lionel Messi trolled by Cristiano Ronaldo fans as PSG humiliate Inter Miami in Club World Cup exit

Cristiano Ronaldo fans were quick to criticise and highlight Lionel Messi's weaknesses as his dream of winning the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 with Inter Miami was crushed by Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday. European champions and Messi's former club, PSG, defeated Inter Miami 4-0 at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium to secure their place in the Club World Cup quarter-finals.
Ronaldo's international teammate from Portugal, Joao Neves, scored two goals in PSG's victory over Messi's side as the French club displayed ruthless efficiency and unforgiving attitude on the pitch.

Messi, Miami struggle against PSG
It took just six minutes for PSG to open the scoring as Neves found himself unmarked at the far post, scoring a free header. He doubled the lead in the 39th minute when top PSG talents combined for a perfect team goal. Bradley Barcola found Fabian Ruiz, whose excellent cross was converted by Neves.
Messi and other Inter Miami players struggled throughout the first half to get hold of the ball and if they hoped for a miracle in the second half, those hopes were dashed just before the half-time break as defender Tomas Aviles turned Desire Doue's cross into his own net.
More from Football
More misery awaited Miami in the extra time of the first half as Achraf Hakimi scored the final goal after his initial shot struck the crossbar.
Messi did create a few chances in the second half as his header was saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma and he also hit the wall with a late free kick, but none of it resulted in a goal.
'It was an almost perfect match, we created a lot of chances, and I'm happy yet I think we still need to improve, that's football,' PSG coach Luis Enrique said.
Messi trolled by Ronaldo fans
As Messi exited the Club World Cup, Ronaldo fans were quick to highlight how his best performances have only come in a Barcelona or an Argentina shirt.
'Messi once again proving that he can't do it outside of Barcelona and Argentina, I genuinely respect Ronaldo so much cause he did it with different clubs and countries. My goat,' a fan wrote on X.

Club World Cup 2025: Ten players asked to be substituted in sultry conditions, Juve coach says
Ten players asked to be substituted during Juventus's 1-0 defeat by Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Club World Cup on Tuesday in humid and hot conditions, coach Igor Tudor said. Temperatures reached 30 degrees Celsius with a humidity of 70% -- a punishing combination for the players at the Hard Rock Stadium. Real prevailed thanks to a Gonzalo Garcia goal to reach the quarterfinal, while Kylian Mbappe made his start in the tournament as a second-half substitute. The extreme heat in several cities hosting the Club World Cup has been a focal point in the tournament, which is seen as a dry run for next year's men's World Cup. RELATED | Gonzalo nets winner as Real Madrid edges past Juventus to reach quarters FIFA has implemented cooling breaks, one per half, and mitigating measures, but some players and coaches have been complaining about the conditions. On the conditions, Tudor said: 'In the end, 10 players asked to be substituted — 10 players asked to come off. It wasn't possible; the exhaustion was incredible. 'There's the tension of this match, which burns you energy. Then there's this heat, which really gets to you… and the third thing that completes the conditions today is playing in this humidity, right? These three things together combined.'

Club World Cup 2025: Dortmund holds off Monterrey to reach quarterfinal; sets up Real Madrid clash
Borussia Dortmund held off a stirring second-half fightback from Monterrey to complete the Club World Cup quarterfinal line-up with a 2-1 win in a round-of-16 thriller at the Mercedes-Benz Arena on Tuesday. Clinical finishes from Serhou Guirassy in the 14th and 24th minutes put Dortmund on top at the break, but German Berterame hit back for Monterrey in the 48th minute, and the Mexican club pressed for an equaliser until the final whistle. The Dortmund defence held firm, however, to set up a last-eight meeting with 15-times European champions Real Madrid in New Jersey on Saturday. There will be no reunion for the Bellingham family, however, with a yellow card shown to Dortmund's Jobe in the 28th minute ruling him out of the clash with big brother Jude's Real.
