Buenos Aires to host MotoGP races again after nearly 30 years and hopes to bring F1 back as well

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — After nearly three decades, MotoGP will return to Argentina's capital of Buenos Aires and a renovated racetrack in 2027, with local authorities hoping it will help bring Formula 1 back as well.
The top motorcycling circuit has been staging its races in Argentina at the Termas de Río Hondo racetrack since 2014, in the province of Santiago del Estero.
MotoGP last raced in Buenos Aires in 1999.
'Buenos Aires used to be the capital of motorsports and motorcycling in the region, and today it begins to regain that status,' Mayor Jorge Macri said Monday while making the announcement at the Óscar and Juan Gálvez racetrack.
'But we're going for more: this is the first step toward applying again to host Formula 1,' he added.
To host the MotoGP event, the capital committed to a complete renovation of the municipal racetrack in October. Racing legends like Juan Manuel Fangio and Michael Schumacher competed there in the past. The German driver won the last F1 race there, in 1998.
The work on the circuit will include the track, pits, paddock, bumpers and safety zones, according to the Buenos Aires City Hall.
Organizers estimate that MotoGP will have a direct economic impact on the city of approximately $150 million. It will also generate jobs in sectors such as hospitality, gastronomy, transportation, and services.
'Bringing MotoGP to the city means the arrival of an elite competition, with the most important international teams and riders, which will be enjoyed by approximately 150,000 people at the track and millions of viewers via television and streaming in more than 200 countries,' Macri said.

Report – Inter Milan Record Second Largest Social Media Fanbase Growth In The World

Inter Milan have recorded the second largest social media fanbase growth of any club in world football over the last five years. This according to today's print edition of Italian business newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, via FCInter1908. Inter Milan have focused significantly on their social media growth over the last few years. That had certainly been the case under the ownership of Suning. The Nerazzurri had placed significant emphasis on growing commercial revenues, particularly due to the slowdown of other earnings during lockdown. Accordingly, Inter took major steps to increase their profile and grow their brand. Inter Milan Record Second Largest Social Media Fanbase Growth In Last Five Years And Inter's efforts look to have paid off. Between the Nerazzurri's increasing sponsorship deals and online presence, the club have 533 million social media followers, reports Il Sole 24 Ore. There are 154 followers in China alone, where there have been significant inroads. The fact that Inter's previous owners were a Chinese company is not a coincidence in this regard. Meanwhile, Inter have announced a new commercial partnership with Chinese electric car manufacturer BYD. There have also been several preseason tours of Asia in recent years. Furthermore, Inter have 90 million social media followers in South America. This is perhaps little surprise considering some of the high-profile South Americans in their squad – above all, captain Lautaro Martinez. Il Sole 24 Ore observe that this growth to 533 fans on social media is the second largest of any club in Europe over the last five years.

🚨 BREAKING: Wolves sign Colombian international Jhon Arias

Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced the £19m signing of Colombian international Jhon Arias from Brazilian club Fluminense. The 27-year-old joins on a four-year contract, with an option to extend for an additional year. Arias, who impressed during the recent Club World Cup in the United States, links up once again with former Fluminense teammate André and fellow Colombian international Yerson Mosquera. A versatile attacker, he is capable of operating across the forward line behind the main striker. The winger brings both individual honours and team success to Molineux, having enjoyed a productive spell in South America. He has made 31 appearances for the Colombian national team and has previously played in both Colombia and Brazil. Arias began his professional career with Patriotas in 2018, before loan and permanent spells with Llaneros, América de Cali, and Santa Fe. He won the Colombian Championship with América de Cali in 2020, before transferring to Fluminense in 2021. During his four-year stint in Rio de Janeiro, Arias made 229 appearances and developed a reputation for creativity and consistency. His breakthrough campaign came in 2022, when he registered 16 goals and 17 assists, contributing to Fluminense's Guanabara Cup success. In 2023, he played a key role in Fluminense's Copa Libertadores triumph, South America's premier club competition, and was named in the tournament's Team of the Year. Arias also served as captain on occasion and was a regular set-piece taker. In the first half of the 2025 season, Arias added 13 assists before shining on the global stage at the Club World Cup. He was named Player of the Match in fixtures against Borussia Dortmund, Ulsan HD and Inter Milan, helping Fluminense reach the semi-finals and earning a spot in the tournament's Best XI. In total, Arias departs Brazil with 102 goal contributions and now moves to European football for the first time. He becomes Wolves head coach Vítor Pereira's second summer signing as the club looks to strengthen its attacking options ahead of the new season. 📸 Wagner Meier - 2025 Getty Images
