England has retained Crawley in their squad for the upcoming third Test at Lord's.
"In my time watching, playing for and covering England, he is the player luckiest to have won as many caps as he has," former England captain Vaughan wrote of Crawley in Britain's Daily Telegraph.
"He has to count himself fortunate to have played 56 games while scoring just five hundreds and averaging 31."
"Crawley is so exasperating because he has the game.... But he has to score more runs at the top of the order."
Geoffrey Boycott, another England cricket legend, shared his thoughts on Crawley's batting approach.
Poll
What do you believe is the main issue with Zak Crawley's batting?
Technical flaws.
Mental approach.
Lack of experience.
"I don't think he can change or get better," said Boycott, writing in the same newspaper. "His faults in technique and thinking are ingrained."

"A leopard doesn't change his spots, or maybe Zak does not want to change. He should be approaching his best years but in 56 Tests he has learned nothing."
"One sparkling innings (of 267) and numerous failures, with an average of 31, is not good enough."
India's bowling performance at Edgbaston proved superior, with Akash Deep, who replaced the rested Bumrah, claiming 10 wickets.

India vs England Test: Alyssa Healy's blunt take on Shubman Gill's dream run - 'Ball not really...'
BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND - JULY 06: Player of the match Shubman Gill after winning the 2nd Rothesay Test Match between England and India at Edgbaston on July 06, 2025 in Birmingham, England. (Photo by) Australia women's team captain Alyssa Healy has taken a sly dig at Shubman Gill 's dream run in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, where he has amassed 585 runs in two Tests. Healy praised the Indian captain for what he has done so far in the series, but at the same time, she mentioned that the Duke ball is not doing much. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! "I watched a little clip on his dismissals early in his career, and the ball was moving a lot. He got bowled, LBW a lot, like coming back through the gate," Healy said on the Willow Talk podcast. "That was his technical flaw, and all of a sudden, that's not happening now. So he's gone and worked on that. He's fixed that. "But also the ball, like, not really doing a whole heap, has probably helped him in that regard too. I am not downplaying this at all because it's been remarkable. "But yeah, like, kudos to him for making some technical changes knowing that hopefully they'd work in England." However, former Australia wicketkeeper Brad Haddin showered praise on the new Indian captain. "It's what the best players in the world do. You all come in to start the Test career," said Haddin. Shubman Gill, Gautam Gambhir shut critics with thumping win over England "Everyone's got footage of everyone, and sometimes you can get exposed in a certain way, and it's not about getting exposed. It's about how you react to that and come back. And he's come back world-class. We've seen this for some time coming in the IPL. "He's been great taking over the captaincy there. He doesn't get flustered. He seems like one of those guys who's got an even tempo through the whole time. "And that's good for an Indian captain because a lot of the time, you can get caught up in the emotion of what's happening in the game. But what he's done with his team, the big thing as well — no Bumrah." Game On Season 1 continues with Mirabai Chanu's inspiring story. Watch Episode 2 here.

Skip Bayless sparks outrage after calling LeBron James a 'con artist' over Cleveland Cavaliers facility visit
(Image Source - Getty Images) LeBron James stepped into familiar territory at the Cleveland Cavaliers' facility this summer—and suddenly, chaos followed. A simple offseason workout photo with Denver Jones blew up the internet and sent rumors swirling about a potential Lakers exit. As fans speculated, Skip Bayless threw gasoline on the fire, calling it a calculated stunt. What seemed routine turned into NBA drama overnight, with $52.6 million and legacy chatter fueling the flames. LeBron James trains at Cleveland Clinic Courts every summer LeBron James has long used the Cavs' Cleveland Clinic Courts to prepare in the off-season—a practice he emphasized in a July 5 X post — 'And every summer since it was built. I live here still and train every summer… Got damn y'all bored man!'. Although the comment was meant for fans who were a bit bored, the image of him alongside summer-league guard Denver Jones stirred up fresh rumors about him possibly leaving the Lakers. His decision to go for the $52.6 million player option for 2025-26 only heightened the speculation. — KingJames (@KingJames) Skip Bayless wasted no time turning the visit into controversy. On The Skip Bayless Show, he labeled it 'the biggest scam in NBA history,' Bayless is accusing James of manipulating the Lakers and the media narrative with that image. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo He dismissed LeBron's explanation as just a bunch of spin, even nicknaming him "LeCon James" and questioning why this secret training is now out in the open. While he pointed out the Lakers' disappointing playoff loss to Minnesota, his claims still feel overblown and lack concrete proof. LeCON JAMES JUST FLIPPED THE SCRIPT FROM PLAYOFF DISASTER TO 'THE LAKERS FAILED AND BETRAYED HIM' Born in Akron, James had an 11-season run with the Cavaliers (2003–2010, 2014–2018), famously securing the team's first NBA championship in 2016. It's no wonder he comes back every summer. Rich Paul , LeBron's agent, left the possibility of a trade open based on the Lakers' roster improvements, but he stated that there haven't been any official talks yet. At the same time, Cleveland lacks the salary cap room to take on James' $52.6 million deal. Sources have mentioned that four teams have shown interest, but no solid offers have come through. Also Read: Jordan Clarkson signs $3.6M deal with New York Knicks after the Utah Jazz buyout The picture taken at the Cavs facility, along with LeBron's cheeky yet sharp X response, feels like a deliberate act of showmanship—or just an athlete hanging out in his hometown. Bayless obviously went with the first option, igniting a national discussion. However, all the evidence—from contract numbers to Cleveland's salary cap limits—indicates that the visit was harmless. Shikhar Dhawan Interview: 'Shubman Gill Is Elegant, Rishabh Pant Brings Unpredictability'
Last Updated: Shikhar Dhawan speaks to News18 CricketNext about the future of Indian cricket, from Vaibhav Suryavanshi's talent, to Gill-Pant dynamic and his choice of next white-ball openers. Shikhar Dhawan's retirement from the Indian team was never just about losing a top-class opener. The country's talent is vast, and it was always going to happen — sooner for him than the other 2/3rd of the famous top-order trio, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, because of their stature and leadership needs. It was more about losing a character. Dhawan in Blue brought some fun into the hard work in one of the best white-ball teams the country has seen, whether it was with his relentless ability to hit pacers through covers, that infectious smile in celebrating hundreds, or the obvious, thigh-slaps. So when News18 CricketNext got the opportunity to ask the former opener a few questions, we touched upon a variety of subjects, mostly about the team's journey after him. Excerpts: The One felt right because people know the Shikhar who scored runs, celebrated with thigh fives, and danced through victories. But this book dives into the other side of the doubts, the struggle & the pressure no one saw. It's about everything that made me the person I am, not just the player. Are you following the ongoing Test series between India and England? You had a really underrated Test career. Do you miss the format? I do keep an eye on it. I've always loved Test cricket, it's where your patience, technique, and temperament get tested like nowhere else. I have some beautiful memories, especially that debut hundred in Mohali. They definitely have the talent and the stage. Rishabh brings unpredictability, while Gill is calm and elegant. If they stick around, stay grounded, and keep learning they could form that core, the one that wins big games under pressure. But the journey is long and consistency and fitness will decide how far they go. What do you think about Vaibhav Suryavanshi's talent? Is it too early to set expectations? And if you had to give him one piece of advice? The boy's got something special, no doubt. But yeah, it's still early days. My advice would be don't rush the process. Fame & form, they come and go. What stays is discipline, humility, and how well you know yourself. If he can hold onto that, he'll definitely go far. India has an abundance of openers in Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, KL Rahul, and so many more. Who are your first-choice picks going forward in ODIs and T20Is? It's a great sign for Indian cricket. Jaiswal and Gill are solid they are fearless, and still evolving. I'd back them for the long run. Abhishek has that aggression & flair. The bench strength is insane. The key will be consistency and handling pressure when it really matters & I think that will define who will open the innings in respective formats.
