Ireland make three changes in their squad for upcoming West Indies T20I series
The squad is bolstered by experienced pacer Mark Adair's return, who missed out on the ODI series through injury.
Right-arm pacer Craig Young missed out on the ODI series due to injury and will miss out on the T20I series as well.
All-rounder Curtis Campher also met the same fate as he did not recover in time to feature against the West Indies and will sit out the upcoming series.
Meanwhile, Gareth Delany, who was included in the T20I side last month, has been sidelined due to an injury sustained in a club game as he joins Young and Campher on the treatment table.
Coming in on the side is 22-year-old Tim Tector, who made his debut against Zimbabwe in a rain-hit encounter in February this year. Keeper-batter Stephen Doheny returns as well, with his previous appearance coming in an away series against Zimbabwe in January 2023, while leggie Gavin Hoey received his maiden call-up to the T20I team.
Speaking on the injuries, Andrew White, Ireland's National Men's Selector, said as quoted by the ICC official website, 'It's been a trying period of late, with some unfortunate injuries sidelining a number of our key players. Both the recent ODI series and this month's T20I series, against West Indies, have really tested the strength of depth in our talent pool.
'With the next Men's T20 World Cup approaching in February 2026, this series is an important part of preparing the squad for the challenge and will serve as a good barometer of where we are at,' he added.
Ireland squad v West Indies:
Paul Stirling (C), Mark Adair, Ross Adair, Tim Tector, Stephen Doheny, George Dockrell, Matthew Humphreys, Josh Little, Barry McCarthy, Liam McCarthy, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, Ben White, Gavin Hoey.

Ex-MI Teammate On Reason Behind Rohit Sharma's Test Retirement: "He Would've Known..."
Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard spoke on former Indian Test skipper Rohit Sharma's retirement from the longest format. He believes that Sharma, having achieved a lot, knows what he wants for his career and emphasised that Hitman's pride in his performance will always be a driving factor. Sharma has announced his retirement from Test cricket in May this year, bringing down the curtain on a remarkable journey in whites. He will continue to captain India in ODIs. "It is a personal decision and he would have known why he [Rohit Sharma] wanted to do it. As an individual who has accomplished so much in cricket, he has it within himself to understand and know what he wants going forward. Again, pride of performance is always going to be there." Pollard told ANI. "He's still going to represent India in the 50-over format of cricket. I don't see him changing the hunger and desire not to score runs. He wants to come out and perform and do well," Pollard added. Pollard also expressed his joy in reuniting with former teammates and friends in the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025. He highlighted the excitement of being competitive again and looks forward to these opportunities. "It feels great, again, reconnecting with your old teammates, old friends, persons that you don't see on a daily basis, you get an opportunity to be competitive again, it's just fantastic and we look forward to it," Pollard told ANI. West Indies Champions Team owner Ajay Sethi praised his team's players, highlighting their success in the IPL and T20 formats. "They have been greatest player of IPL and T20 format, their records and their performance speaks for itself, this is my best team on the paper and they're performing, they won the England game and then we had the game against Australia, we have a big game tomorrow with Pakistan, I'm very confident that we will definitely go to perform and win the game," Sethi told ANI. West Indies Champions will take on Pakistan Champions in the 11th Match of WCL 2025 at Leeds on Saturday.

Veteran India Batter Announces Retirement From Professional Cricket; Check Details
Veda Krishnamurthy, who represented India in both the ODI and T20I format, has announced her retirement from professional cricket. Veda represented India in 48 ODIs and 76 T20Is, scoring 829 runs and 875 runs respectively. The former India international had last played a T20I match in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Final in Melbourne in 2020 while she donned the ODI colours last in 2018. She took to social media to announce her retirement. While announcing her retirement, Veda also added that she was ready to give back to the game. "A small-town girl with big dreams. That's how it all started in Kadur. I picked up a bat not knowing where it would take me. But I knew I loved the game. I never imagined it would take me this far from narrow streets to the biggest stadiums, from quiet hopes to proudly wearing the Indian jersey. Cricket gave me so much more than just a career. It gave me a sense of who I am. It taught me how to fight, how to fall and how to keep showing up. Today, with a full heart, I'm calling time on this chapter," Krishnamurthy said in her post. Apart from her India career, Veda also captained Karnataka and Railways in the domestic circuit. In 2023, she led Karnataka to runners-up finish in the Senior Women's One Day Trophy for successive years in 2021-22 and 2022-23. "To my parents and siblings, especially my sister, thank you for being my first team and my constant strength. To my coaches, captains and mentors, thank you for shaping me. To BCCI, thank you for trusting me with the honour of representing India. To KSCA, Railways and KIOC, thank you for giving me the space to grow," she further wrote. "To my teammates, you made every bit of this journey worth it. We've shared everything - wins, losses and laughs that will stay with me forever. You were never just teammates. You were family. To my friends, thank you for being there, especially when no one was watching. Captaining Karnataka and Railways was an honour I'll always hold close. Those teams shaped me, challenged me, and gave me space to lead with heart. And India... nothing comes to the feeling of wearing that jersey. The anthem, the Adrenaline, the pride - it lives in your bones forever," she added. In her retirement post, Veda also wrote about how she felt proud to be a part of the team in 2017 - a remarkable year for women's cricket in India, when the team reached the ICC Women's World Cup final at Lord's. "And 2017... what a year to be part of a World Cup that changed how people saw women's cricket in India. I'll always be proud of that. To the physios, trainers, seelctors, and every single person who worked behind the scenes, thank you," she wrote. "This game gave me everything. And I'll always be grateful for it. Now it's time to give back. Whatever the role, whatever the way, I'm here for the game. I truly believe this second innings will be just as meaningful. I played with fire in my heart and pride in every step. Always for the team. Always for India," she concluded. Her final on-field appearance came during WPL 2024, where she represented Gujarat Giants. She has also worked as a commentator and broadcaster.

Chinnaswamy Stadium Declared 'Unsafe'; RCB, World Cup Matches Under Threat
Last Updated: The Justice John Michael D'Cunha Commission declared Chinnaswamy Stadium unsafe for mass gatherings, threatening the 2025 WC final and RCB's future games in IPL. The Justice John Michael D'Cunha Commission, appointed by the Karnataka Government after the deadly June 4 stampede in Bengaluru, has declared the Chinnaswamy Stadium 'unsuitable and unsafe for mass gathering'. It puts into threat several matches scheduled at the ground, including the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup final. 11 people died, many teens among them, and several others were seriously injured near the stadium premises in a huge gathering to celebrate IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)'s maiden IPL win in the 2025 season. The team had arranged a parade, with the government also putting up some functions — none of which the city's infrastructure and police force seemed prepared to manage. The commission also proposed measures to avoid such tragedies. 'Adequate entry-exit gates for mass entry and exit (ingress and egress), and emergency evacuation plans compliant with international safety norms," it said. The local T20 tournament, called the Maharaja Trophy, will already be held indoors, after a directive from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). If the government was to accept these recommendations, it would be difficult to see the ICC hosting the World Cup final and three other matches of the tournament at the venue. It can also have an impact on RCB, who play seven matches here every season, and will be expected to get the hosting rights for the IPL 2026 final and second qualifier as the defending champions. 'Until such infrastructural changes are made, continuing to host high-attendance events at the current location poses unacceptable risks to public safety, urban mobility, and emergency preparedness," the comission said. It also recommended legal proceedings against KSCA president Raghuram Bhat, now-resigned secretary A Shankar and treasurer ES Jairam, RCB vice-president Rajesh Menon, DNA Entertainment Networks MD T Venkat Vardhan and VP Sunil Mathur. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
