Richard Sherman charged with DUI from 2024 arrest
In February of 2024, former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked into King County Jail. The Super Bowl XLVIII champion declined to take a breathalyzer test and instead opted to have his blood drawn.
Well, the results of his bloodwork have finally come back from the Washington State Patrol's crime lab, and this is one test Sherman did not want to fail. In Washington, the legal limit is 0.08 and Sherman's blood alcohol level came back as 0.11. As a result, the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has officially charged Sherman with driving under the influence, which is a gross misdemeanor in Washington.
This is Richard Sherman's second run-in with the law, with the first being a domestic incident in 2021. In that situation, Sherman was also arrested for driving under the influence, but it was ultimately plead down to two misdemeanor offenses, including first-degree negligent driving and speeding in a construction zone.
In Washington, the statute of limitations for charging a suspect with a gross misdemeanor - such as driving under the influence - is two years. Since the Sherman is still well within that range, he is still subject to legal jeopardy. Part of his plea deal from 2022 included two years of court supervision and being forced to attend a DUI victim's panel.
I am not a lawyer or a legal expert, but seeing as though February 2024 is also within the two year window the court sentenced him to be under, I cannot imagine the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office is going to be all that sympathetic towards Sherman for his second incident involving drinking and driving.

Mississippi woman dies after jumping from car, man arrested: sheriff
JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A Gautier woman died after deputies said she jumped from moving car driven by a man believed to be her boyfriend. Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter said deputies responded to Gautier-Vancleave Road just north of Pine Grove Road around 7:30 p.m. on June 26. They found Celeste Bellard, 45, lying in the road. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ledbetter said Adam Cross, 47, told investigators that he and Bellard had been drinking and were on their way home when they got into an argument, and Bellard jumped out of the car. Perry sentenced to 26 years in prison for deadly DUI crash
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A Hanna City man was sentenced Tuesday to a total of 26 years in prison for a deadly 2023 crash. During the sentencing hearing, Jeremy E. Perry, 45, read a short statement apologizing for the hurt and pain he caused when the wreck caused the death of a mother of five children. In May, he pleaded guilty in Peoria County Circuit Court to two counts of aggravated DUI in connection with the Jan. 15, 2023, crash that killed Miriam Schmid, 43, of Edwards and left her son severely injured. Specifically, he was sentenced to 14 years on one count and 12 years on the other count. They are to be served one after another. In return for his plea, lesser charges of aggravated DUI, driving on a revoked license and aggravated fleeing and eluding were dismissed by Peoria County prosecutors. Man indicted for deadly 3-vehicle crash Circuit Judge Paul Bauer could have imposed a term of probation, but Perry had to show 'extraordinary circumstances' why he should not have gone to prison. That's different from most crimes, as the burden is on Perry to show why he should get probation. Perry will have to serve at least 85% minus whatever time he has spent in custody. The crash was the cumulation of a lengthy flight from deputies with the Peoria County Sheriff's Office who responded to a gas station at the Kickapoo exit off Interstate 74 several minutes prior. The call was for two people who were unresponsive in a Buick LeSabre. Deputies were able to remove a woman from the car but the other person, Perry, drove off. They chased him on Kickapoo-Edwards Road and then onto U.S. Route 150 where he collided head-on with Schmid's vehicle. In all, three vehicles were involved. Schmid was pronounced dead at the scene while her son suffered severe injuries including a traumatic brain injury and a lacerated spleen. A third vehicle was also involved but it wasn't known how they were injured. Chemical testing indicated he had cannabis and methamphetamine in his system at the time of the mid-morning collision near the intersection of Route 150 and Koerner Road.
