Uttarakhand: Doors of Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara open for devotees

The doors of
Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara
, a famous
Sikh pilgrimage
site in the upper Garhwal Himalayan region in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, opened for devotees on Sunday. After the arrival of 'Panj Pyare' in the morning, the doors of the gurudwara were opened for the devotees amidst Guru Ardas, Shabad Kirtan and Gurbani.
With this, the pilgrimage to
Shri Hemkund Sahib
has begun.
On this occasion, the gurudwara, situated at an altitude of 15,000 feet, was decorated with flowers and colorful flags. President of Hemkund Gurudwara Trust Narendrajit Singh Bindra and other officials were also present.

Snow is still covering the area around the gurudwara. However, a path has been made for devotees by clearing snow.
On Saturday, the first batch of Sikh devotees led by 'Panj Pyare' from Govindghat Gurudwara left for Hemkund Sahib with the holy Nishan Sahib. This group stayed the night at Ghangaria Gurudwara.

In the morning, this group left for Hemkund Sahib amid chants of "Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal". After reaching there, the doors of the gurudwara were opened for devotees at an auspicious time.
The pilgrimage to Hemkund Sahib begins in the month of May every year and continues till October. During this, lakhs of devotees from across the country and abroad reach there to pay obeisance.
Arrangements have been made by the police to ensure the safety and smooth journey of the devotees. Teams of State Disaster Response Force have also been deployed at the main stops of pilgrimage route

NEW DELHI: Union civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu on Sunday flagged off a major expansion in regional air connectivity from Hindon Airport, launching IndiGo 's services to nine Indian cities. This marks IndiGo's debut at the NCR-based airport, following Air India Express, which began operations just four months ago. With IndiGo flights now connecting Hindon to Bengaluru, Kolkata, Varanasi, Goa, Patna, Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Indore, the airport steps up as NCR's second civilian aviation hub alongside Delhi's IGI Airport. Calling the expansion a 'success of the UDAN scheme and the aspirations of common Indians,' Minister Naidu said, 'This is an Udan of Hindon, Ghaziabad, western Uttar Pradesh, and the entire country.' He highlighted the rapid growth in India's aviation sector: 'In the past decade, our airlines, airport terminals, and flyers have doubled. In the next 10 years, tier II and III cities will drive this growth, and Hindon will be a shining example.' Hindon Airport was redeveloped in 2019 at a cost of Rs 50 crore under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme, in collaboration with the Indian Air Force . The event was arranged in preparation for the Madhya Pradesh Travel Mart (October 2025) and Regional Tourism Conclaves scheduled in Rewa (July 26 and 27, 2025), Gwalior (August 2025), and Indore (September 2025). Notable participation included filmmakers and influencers. Additional Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, Bidisha Mukherjee, stated that "Madhya Pradesh is known as the 'Heart of India', and this title is not only geographical but also due to its cultural diversity, historical heritage, rich nature, and incomparable hospitality.
