Over 50 SMEs propose to invest Rs 100 crore in Maheshwar industrial area
Indore: More than 50 small and medium enterprises (SME) have proposed to invest around Rs 100 crore in the newly-developed industrial belt, Maheshwar, in Khargone district. The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department allotted 55 plots to industries engaged in food processing, polybag manufacturing, garments, and plastic products, among others. The District Industries and Trade Centre, under the MSME department, had developed the Maheshwar industrial area on 20 hectares at an estimated cost of Rs 12 crore. "There were total 58 plots in the industrial belt. Almost all the plots have been booked by industries, and they proposed to invest collectively around Rs 100 crore in the industrial area," District Industries and Trade Centre, Khargone, general manager Dhananjay Shukla said. The bookings were done through bidding on the MSME portal. "There was a lot of interest and demand for land in this region. Most of our industrial areas are full, and now, looking at the response from the industries, we are planning to develop the second phase of the Maheshwar industrial belt," said Shukla. The second phase of the Maheshwar industrial belt will be planned on 30 hectares. The MSME department in Khargone is also working on developing food clusters to give a boost to agriculture-related industries. There are six govt industrial belts in Khargone, including Nimrani, Khargone, Bikangaon, and Badwah.
