Florida football lands fourth 2026 recruiting commitment from blue-chip safety
Florida football landed its fourth commitment of the 2026 recruiting cycle — and second in the past three days — on Wednesday with four-star safety Kaiden Hall giving his word to the Gators.
The decision came two days prior to his prescheduled date, but apparently the Orange and Blue offered him enough to make an early choice. The 6-foot-3-inch, 195-pound defensive back out of Milton (Florida) was also considering the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida State Seminoles and Oklahoma Sooners among offers from a total of 25 suitors.
Billy Napier and Co. have pursued Hall since his freshman season in 2023, resulting in a handful of trips to Gainesville between then and now. However, it was a recent addition to the coaching staff — co-defensive coordinator and safeties' coach Vinnie Sunseri — who spearheaded the effort to bring the talented youngster to the program after making connections with the recruit back with the Washington Huskies.
Hall's connection with Florida's coaching staff
The relationship between Hall and Sunseri has blossomed in the time since the latter arrived on campus.
"It's been really good," Hall told Swamp247 of his experience with Florida's coach. "He's been texting me, calling, came down to the school."
Meanwhile, Sunseri has also been very direct about the expectations he has for Hall.
"It was mainly about a free and strong safety position," he noted about his conversation with Sunseri on Sunday. "He seemed, mainly, 'Start with the free safety position.'"
As for the Gators' skipper, Napier's effort to play the long game with the talented safety appears to have paid off.
"I've been knowing (Napier) since freshman year going into sophomore year when he offered me in the office," Hall said. "It's been consistent love ever since that, for sure."

Hall is ranked No. 170 overall and No. 14 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite, while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 208 and 20, respectively.

Former Ohio State quarterback Will Howard discusses last six months while at ESPYs
To say that it's been a memorable and eventful last six months for former Ohio State quarterback Will Howard would be an understatement. Not only did he realize a couple of childhood dreams by winning a College Football Playoff national championship and by being selected in the NFL draft, but he also appeared on the red carpet at the ESPYs because the Buckeyes were nominated for "Team of the Year." And while OSU didn't win that award, he still got to rub elbows with American sports' royalty and experience all that comes from being a part of the festivities. One other thing Howard has been able to do is learn from future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers after he was signed to lead the Steelers this coming year. Howard -- all decked out in his best -- took some time while at the ESPYs to talk about those things and more while on the red carpet ahead of sitting in the audience in person to watch the annual sports awards show. As he always is, Howard was gracious and engaging in talking about a six-month whirlwind that will undoubtedly be unlike any other in his life. He reflected on his transfer to Ohio State, making a run to the national championship, and what it means to be mentored by Rodgers. It's unlikely that Howard will get much time under center in Pittsburgh this season, but as Rodgers moves on, if he can learn and make the most of the opportunity he has, maybe we can see him doing some of the same things he did for Ohio State for the Steelers in the near future. Ohio State football will be near bottom of returning production in 2025
Ohio State lost a lot of players to the NFL at the end of last season, 14 total drafted to be exact, just one shy of an NFL draft record. But as they say, programs like the Buckeyes don't rebuild, they reload, and that should be pretty close to correct for OSU in 2025. In fact, according to ESPN's SP+, Ohio State is rated as the No. 1 team heading into the fall. However, if you look at what the Buckeyes lost, it might not be as easy as some believe. If Ohio State is going to be a Big Ten and College Football Playoff contender, it'll have to overcome being near the bottom of the league and pretty far down the national scale in returning production. ESPN recently dropped its Big Ten preview, and used metrics to rank Big Ten teams in their returning production both in the conference and nationally, and Ohio State is quite far down the list, further down than I can remember in a long time, and it's at key positions. Ohio State will be ushering in a new quarterback, a brand new backfield, and an overhauled defensive line, just to name a few areas of concern. Again, the thought is that the talent and at least some experience are still there, but this team is far from the experienced one we saw last season. So, where exactly is Ohio State ranked in returning production? In the Big Ten, the Buckeyes land at No. 14 with 48% returning production according to ESPN. Nationally, the Buckeyes are No. 92, much closer to the bottom of the total number of FBS teams, at 136. Illinois has the most returning production in the league, followed by Rutgers and Wisconsin. Here's a look at each Big Ten team and where they rank in returning production, both in the Big Ten and nationally. It's always interesting to see how experienced teams that aren't generally near the top of the Big Ten do during the season, but if you simply take that into account, you would think that Illinois or Rutgers could surprise some folks this year.
