Skenes dominates into 7th inning, Pirates beat Diamondbacks 10-1 for 2nd road series win
The Pirates rallied from down 6-2 with seven runs in the eighth inning to beat the Diamondbacks 9-6 on Tuesday night.
There was no need for a comeback with Skenes (4-5) on the mound.
Last year's NL rookie of the year allowed four hits, struck out seven and walked none in 6 2/3 innings. Skenes has not allowed more than six hits in an MLB-record 35 starts to open his career.
Pittsburgh took two of three from Arizona for its first road series win and second overall since April 22-24 against the Los Angeles Angels.
Arizona's Zac Gallen (3-7) allowed six runs — five earned — on six hits with three strikeouts and three walks in five innings. Gallen walked the leadoff batter three times and all three scored.
Arizona has lost seven of eight.
Henry Davis hit a run-scoring single in the second inning after a leadoff walk and Pittsburgh scored two runs in the fifth on second baseman Jordan Lawler's throwing error following a leadoff walk.
Gallen issued another leadoff walk in the sixth inning and was pulled after Ke'Bryan Hayes' run-scoring single. Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit a two-run double off Juan Morillo and Bryan Reynolds made it 8-0 with a run-scoring triple.

Women's Pro Baseball League to hold tryouts at Nationals Park as it aims for 2026 debut
The Women's Professional Baseball League will hold tryouts next month at the Washington Nationals' home ballpark as it moves closer to its launch. The league is aiming to play its first season with six teams starting in spring 2026. The tryouts, which will be held Aug. 22-25, will determine the 150 players who will be invited to the league's draft in October. More than 600 players registered for the four-day camp, the WPBL said. Leverkusen signs England Under-21 defender Jarell Quansah from Liverpool
LEVERKUSEN, Germany (AP) — Bayer Leverkusen has replaced former captain Jonathan Tah with Jarell Quansah from Liverpool in a club-record signing for a defender. The 22-year-old Quansah signed a contract through June 2030 and will wear Tah's former No. 4 shirt, the Bundesliga club said Wednesday. The reported fee of more than 30 million euros ($35.3 million) rising to 40 million ($47 million) with bonuses corresponds roughly with what Liverpool agreed to pay Leverkusen for Netherlands right back Jeremie Frimpong in May. Liverpool reportedly secured a buy-back option for Quansah for more than 60 million euros ($70.6 million) after he has spent two seasons at Leverkusen.
