SUPERMAN's Opening Weekend Could Hit $175 Million, But What Are Test Screenings Saying? — GeekTyrant

The hype around James Gunn's Superman just kicked into a higher gear with the recent trailer that was released, and now early box office tracking is pointing to a potentially massive debut.
According to insider Jeff Sneider, the reboot could soar to a $175 million opening weekend in North America. That's a hefty figure, and if it holds, it would be a big win for both DC Studios and Warner Bros. Discovery.
On The Hot Mic podcast, Sneider shared:
'I'm hearing Superman is currently tracking big.'
He stopped short of calling it a $200 million opener, though, and noted he's not convinced the film will crack the $1 billion mark globally. Still, with numbers like that floating around this early, it's a sign that general interest in Gunn's reimagining of the Man of Steel is very real.
It was also reproted that the movie could earn between USD 650 million and USD 850 million worldwide. 'If it performs on the higher end, it could come close to matching the inflation-adjusted earnings of Man of Steel , which peaked at USD 890 million, and even surpass Justice League and The Batman , which collected USD 661.3 million and USD 772.3 million, respectively.'
I've been wondering if this movie would be a big box office success. My fear is, even if it's a great film, that people won't see it in theaters. A lot of great films that had the makings of a block buster hit have had disappointing box office runs, Which this being another Superman movie from DC would the general audience have interest in watching it?
But, the momentum has been building ever since the December teaser broke viewership records. That was followed by an extended five-minute sneak peek and a special "Superman Day" featurette, both of which were received with a wave of enthusiasm from fans.
While some have questioned the star power of lead David Corenswet, the general audience seems ready to embrace Gunn's more hopeful, comic-faithful take on the character.
This version of Superman ditches the brooding, world-weary hero we saw in the DCEU and instead leans into optimism, which is a major tonal shift that could either re-energize the brand or, if it misfires, sink DC's reboot plans before they really take off.
That's why the stakes couldn't be higher. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is already in the pipeline, along with several DCU shows, but if Superman underperforms, it could shake the foundation of Gunn and Peter Safran's leadership at DC Studios.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has already made his fair share of controversial moves, don't expect him to hesitate if the numbers fall short.
Still, not all the buzz is glowing. While the overall tone of test screenings has reportedly been strong, Sneider noted he heard at least one very blunt piece of feedback:
'Superman stinks.'
That's not the kind of quote you want floating around, especially when you're rebooting one of the most beloved characters in pop culture. But, we've got to remember that test screenings always come with outliers. And so far, the balance of reactions remains positive.
With Superman set to open in July, this is just the beginning of the box office conversation. But it's shaping up to be one of the most closely watched releases of the year.

Blake Lively Issues New Subpoenas Amid Justin Baldoni Legal Battle, ‘Source' Claims

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's legal battle reportedly got a new update as the former issued three new subpoenas. Weeks after her and Taylor Swift's text messages became accessible to her 'It Ends With Us' co-star, Lively subpoenaed Perez Hilton, Candace Owens, and Andy Signore. She seemingly sought all communications with Baldoni and the Wayfarer parties to prove the alleged smear campaign. Her lawsuit also accused him of sexual harassment. TMZ learned about a new development in Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's legal battle as she reportedly issued three new subpoenas. A source with direct knowledge claimed that Lively subpoenaed content creators Perez Hilton, Candace Owens, and Andy Signore to obtain all communications with Baldoni and the Wayfarer parties. The publication believes her latest move likely stemmed from the judge's order to pursue discovery to prove the alleged smear campaign. Owens responded to the claim in a statement, revealing that she does not know the court documents yet. 'Given the fact that I have not received any subpoena yet, I appreciate Blake's team leaking this to TMZ to alert me to it,' she stated. The commentator and author further said she's unaware why she was 'being subpoenaed.' She then denied association with 'these parties' when they filed their respective lawsuits, but will share updates on her podcast. Responding to the subpoenas from Lively, Signore's lawyer also released a statement. The lawyer stated they haven't received 'any legal process at this time.' However, they expressed their intentions to 'vigorously defend against any claims' and 'protect the confidentiality of sources on both sides' in case of a subpoena. Reports of the subpoenas came weeks after a judge dismissed Justin Baldoni's $400 million countersuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds. His team had previously issued two subpoenas to the 'Gossip Girl' alum's close friend Taylor Swift and her lawyers at Venable. They then withdrew the subpoenas soon after, but successfully pursued text messages between the two friends. ‘Distraction' Ryan Reynolds Banned From Blake Lively's Deposition, ‘Source' Claims

Ryan Reynolds is one supportive husband who wants to be present at Blake Lively's deposition on July 17 in New York. However, as per a source, the actor has been banned from attending the deposition. Lively's legal team has advised against his presence since it is a 'legal fight' and Reynolds is a 'distraction.' Lively has reportedly decided to face the lawyers alone. As the deposition date of the Blake Lively case approaches, her legal battle against Justin Baldoni seems to be drawn out. Her husband, Ryan Reynolds, has been on her side since day one. However, it seems Lively will be facing things alone as she braces herself for deposition. It is scheduled on July 17 in New York. While Reynolds wants to be present at the deposition, her lawyers have advised against it. They reportedly cited that 'It's a legal fight' and 'this isn't Hollywood.' A source informed Rob Shuter that Lively's legal team told Reynolds that since 'he's a distraction,' he has to stay away from the deposition. The decision might have been difficult for Lively as she 'loves' Reynolds and would want him to be on her side. However, after understanding the gravity of the situation, the actor reluctantly agreed to face the battle alone. She knows 'this is war,' and is ready to take things head on. With the deposition, Baldoni's attorney, Bryan Freedman, plans to deny Lively's allegations. While speaking about his strategy on TMZ Live, he said he will 'ask her questions under penalty of perjury.' For this, Lively would 'have to provide evidence, and she's gonna have to provide the truth of the stories.' According to People, Freedman further added that they have 'video tape,' 'footage,' 'text messages,' and 'emails.' However, they want to 'see how consistent her testimony is with the actual facts of what transpired.' The legal tussle between the co-actors started when Lively accused her 'It Ends With Us' director-costar Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation. Baldoni denied the claims and filed counterclaims against Lively and her husband, alleging defamation and extortion. However, it was reportedly dismissed by the judge. Their trial is due for March 2026 in New York. The post 'Distraction' Ryan Reynolds Banned From Blake Lively's Deposition, 'Source' Claims appeared first on Reality Tea.

Ryan Reynolds to Likely Skip Blake Lively's Deposition in Legal Battle, ‘Source' Claims

As Blake Lively prepares for her deposition date amid her ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni, sources claim that will not attend the proceedings. A fresh report revealed that Lively will be deposed by Baldoni's team next Thursday. However, the session will only include Lively and her own legal representation. Although the exact location has not been disclosed, the session will reportedly take place in New York. Blake Lively is bracing for her upcoming deposition date in her ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni, but she will reportedly do it without her husband, Ryan Reynolds, by her side. An exclusive report from TMZ revealed that the 'Gossip Girl' alum will attend the session next Thursday in New York. The tabloid's insiders claimed that only Lively and her legal team would be present for the proceedings on July 17. A source with direct knowledge shared that Reynolds isn't expected at the proceedings. As per TMZ, Lively feels prepared and resolute, maintaining that 'her story has never changed.' The deposition is a crucial step in the legal dispute, following a judge's dismissal of Baldoni's $400 million countersuit in June. Initially, the filmmaker's team suggested they would amend the lawsuit. However, they recently stated they are 'pursuing additional legal options that are available to us.' Blake Lively's legal battle against Justin Baldoni has been going on for seven months. The former filed her lawsuit in December, accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment during the filming of 'It Ends With Us.' She also claimed an alleged smear campaign was designed by her co-star and his company, Wayfarer Studios. However, Baldoni's team has continually denied any wrongdoing. The upcoming deposition is thus expected to be a major moment for Lively. It could play a pivotal role in how the dispute unfolds, especially considering Lively and Baldoni's high-profile statuses. Though neither of the parties' representatives has publicly commented on the latest developments, sources have confirmed that Reynolds will likely sit this session out.
