Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has echoed sentiments across the football community with a tribute to the late Diogo Jota, who died in a car crash on Thursday. In a quarterfinal Club World Cup match against Borussia Dortmund, the French superstar delivered a game-winning goal in extra time to lift Madrid 3-2 over its German opposition at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Mbappe's twisting, acrobatic right-footed shot from the left side of the six-yard box, rifled into the bottom left corner following a cross from Turkish star Arda Guler. Caitlin Clark gets final injury update for blockbuster Aces clash

The post Caitlin Clark gets final injury update for blockbuster Aces clash appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Indiana Fever are coming off a Commissioner's Cup championship win against the Minnesota Lynx, and they did so without star guard Caitlin Clark who was sidelined due to injury. Even with the win, the Fever are going to need Clark in the lineup to pose a serious threat the rest of the season. With regular season play resuming for the Fever on Thursday against the Las Vegas Aces, Caitlin Clark remained on the injury report. Advertisement Caitlin Clark was officially ruled out on the Fever's injury report for their upcoming game against the Aces, the team announced. Clark has been dealing with a groin injury that's kept her sidelined for the past three games including the Commissioner's Cup championship. Prior to that, Clark had returned from a quad injury that had caused her to miss five games. After a strong Rookie of the Year season last year, Clark's second year in the WNBA has been unfortunately hampered by injury. She's missed about half of the Fever's games so far. Clark has appeared in nine games for the Fever this season at a little over 33 minutes per game. She's averaging 18.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 1.6 steals with splits of 39 percent shooting from the field, 29.5 percent shooting from the three-point line and 81.6 percent shooting from the free-throw line. Her shooting percentages are all down from last season, with the injuries maybe playing a role in that. Nevertheless, Clark was recently selected as one of the WNBA All-Star captains by virtue of her receiving the most amount of fan votes. She also set a record for the most fan votes in WNBA history, surpassing the previous record which she set last season. Advertisement With Clark in and out of the lineup, the Fever have been searching for consistency this season. They are currently .500 with an 8-8 record and eighth place in the league standings. (AP Photo/Angelina Katsanis) NEW YORK (AP) — Yankees star Aaron Judge was struck in the face by a toss from teammate Anthony Volpe as they were coming off the field after the fifth inning of Saturday's 12-6 loss to the New York Mets. Judge came to bat in the sixth with a small bandage that was still affixed near his right eye after the game. He had a mark right around the eye but said he was fine. Advertisement Mark Vientos lined out to Yankees second baseman Oswald Peraza to end the fifth at Citi Field, and New York players began tossing the ball around as they trotted toward the dugout as many major league teams do at the conclusion of an inning. The ball went to Volpe, and the shortstop made a high, arcing throw in Judge's direction as the slugger jogged in from right field. Judge, however, appeared to be looking the other way as he approached the infield and the ball hit him on the side of the face, knocking off his sunglasses. 'Yeah, I mean, confusion. I didn't know what happened initially. I just saw kind of a, what felt like something happened,' Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. 'So yeah, of course I was concerned. Had a little cut. In the end I don't think anything too serious, obviously. But yeah, initially, obviously very concerned.' The sloppy Yankees were handed their sixth consecutive defeat, matching a season worst. Advertisement 'It's been a terrible week,' Boone said. New York also dropped six straight from June 13-18, marking the first time since 2000 the club has endured two six-game losing streaks in one year. 'Just got to play better. That's what it comes down to. Just fundamentals. Making the routine play routine,' said Judge, the Yankees' captain. 'It's just the little things. That's what it kind of comes down to — but every good team goes through a couple bumps in the road. 'We'll clean some things up. We know what we need to do. We'll take care of business.' ___ AP MLB:
