Typical KO finisher Brunno Ferreira taps Jackson McVey\u00a0with armbar\u00a0at UFC 318

For all the UFC middleweights who thought they just had to worry about Brunno Ferreira in the standup game, the Brazilian may have made their prep work a little more difficult. Ferreira (14-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) submitted short-notice replacement UFC newcomer Jackson McVey (6-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at the 3:35 mark of the first round Saturday at UFC 318 at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. After seven straight wins by knockout, Ferreira has back-to-back win by armbar. After he tapped Armen Petrosyan in March at 313, he was set to fight Ikram Aliskerov until McVey stepped in as a replacement. Midway through the first round, McVey got too high on Ferreira's back and once the fight spilled to the canvas, Ferreira went straight toward his opponent's neck. But rather than working at a choke, he grabbed McVey's arm and went to work. Check out Ferreira's slick ending below. Ferreira has won four of five and kept his perfect finish streak intact. McVey suffered the first loss of his pro career. Up-to-the-minute UFC 318 results:

Interesting Details of Eagles' Super Bowl Ring Explained

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. On Friday night, the Philadelphia Eagles got to celebrate their Super Bowl victory once again. The 2024 roster gathered in Philly for a party, and each player received their unique-styled rings, designed by Jason of Beverly Hills. As always, the ring has plenty of important details that tell the story of the Eagles' entire 2024 season. Diamonds are a Bird's best friend — Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) July 19, 2025 In the word "Champions," there are 40 points of diamonds to represent the Eagles' points scored in the Super Bowl matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. On the wings of the rings, there are 0.9 carats to represent the six sacks and three takeaways in the Super Bowl. As dominant as the two-way effort was, the Eagles' defense was absolutely critical as they shut down the MVP-caliber quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. In order to get to the Super Bowl, the Eagles had a dominant regular season, which helped them gain home-field advantage in the postseason for the first round, at least. The bracket ended up giving them a home game for each playoff matchup. After a 2-2 start, they fired off 10 wins in a row, which proved to the NFL they were the real deal. On the Super Bowl LIX logo, there are 10 points of diamonds to represent that streak. In total, the Eagles finished the year with 18 wins. Therefore, there are 18 green stones on the ring. On the inside of the ring, there is a Brazilian flag, which is where the season started. Although it was an Eagles home game, the team played one of the few international games this year. The Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers in Brazil to kick off their big year. Right under the flag is a motto, inspired by the head coach, Nick Sirianni. "Tough, Detailed, Together," it says. Under the motto is a list of scores throughout the Eagles' playoff run, which included games against the Packers, Los Angeles Rams, Washington Commanders, and the Chiefs. The No. 145 represents the Eagles' NFL record of most points scored in the postseason. Perhaps, the most popular part of the ring is the wings. With the hit of a button, they pop out. The five diamonds on the button are there to represent the five players who scored points in the Super Bowl (Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, Cooper DeJean, DeVonta Smith, and Jake Elliott). It's all in the details — Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) July 19, 2025 Lastly, the wings have a hidden message, which also comes from Sirianni: "You can't be great without the greatness of others." While Sirianni has dealt with a lot of criticism throughout his tenure with the Eagles, he has overcome all of that and shines as a motivator within the organization. Clearly, his messages have stuck with the team and will remain with them forever, as the Super Bowl ring sheds light on those mottos. Paulo Costa vs. Roman Kopylov prediction, pick, start time for UFC 318

Paulo Costa and Roman Kopylov meet Saturday in the co-feature of UFC 318 at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom. Last event: 4-2 UFC main cards, 2025: 68-50-1 Paulo Costa vs. Roman Kopylov UFC 318 preview Costa (14-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) will look to end a recent rough stretch of 1-4, including back-to-back losses. Costa's last win came against Luke Rockhold at UFC 278 in August 2022. Since then, he lost consecutive decisions to former champions Robert Whittaker and Sean Strickland. ... Conversely, Kopylov (14-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) has been doing well, although his competition hasn't been as stiff. He enters as the winner of his last two fights. Last June, Kopylov won a split decision over Cesar Almeida and then stopped Chris Curtis in the third round in January. Paulo Costa vs. Roman Kopylov UFC 318 expert pick, prediction The co-main event in Louisiana features a middleweight showdown between Paulo Costa and Roman Kopylov. Despite initially leaning toward the favorite on first glance, I ended up siding with the underdog after further delving into past notes and fight footage. Even though I've been impressed by Kopylov's southpaw savvy, the Russian tends to harbor some terrible optics that stem from his suspect gas tank. Should Costa find his way back to a more front-foot pressure game, then that could pose some problems for Kopylov's staying power considering how hard "Borrachinha" works the body. Aside from being a much more skilled and nuanced striker than he's given credit for, the majority of Costa's UFC wins come against southpaws, officially standing at 5-1 in this department. Anything involving Costa will always feel risky, so I'll bite the bullet and back the Brazilian to win, likely by decision. Paulo Costa vs. Roman Kopylov UFC 318 odds The oddsmakers and the public are favoring the Russian fighter, listing Kopylov -230 and Costa +184 via FanDuel. Paulo Costa vs. Roman Kopylov UFC 318 start time, how to watch As the co-main event, Costa and Kopylov are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 11:40 p.m. ET. The fight broadcasts live on ESPN and ESPN+.
