‘F***!': NBA prospect goes viral with reaction to being drafted by the Raptors

Independent26-06-2025
An NBA prospect has gone viral for his reaction to being drafted by the Toronto Raptors.
Collin Murray-Boyles, a forward for the University of South Carolina, was caught on camera shaking his head and saying, 'F***!' after NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced him as the Raptors' pick.
Murray-Boyles was the ninth pick in the first round of Wednesday's draft.
After throwing out the f-bomb, Murray-Boyles was seen hugging his family and girlfriend Chloe Kitts, a Junior at the University of South Carolina who plays as a forward on the women's basketball team.
In response to his expletive, Murray-Boyles said, per The Athletic, 'What I said was not a bad thing by any means. I'm just very thankful.'
'That was a surreal moment to hear my name called, by this organization that has a good history and has really good players right now. It was a crazy moment,' he added.
People took to social media to share their reactions to Murray-Boyles' f-bomb.
'Clearly my guy didn't want to go to Canada,' one X user wrote.
Another said: 'Not the reaction you want!'
A third said that Murray-Boyles 'definitely did not want to go to the Raptors.'
Others just laughed it off, writing, 'LMAO.'
The Raptors even joined in on the fun, posting a photo of Murray-Boyles smiling at the draft and captioning it, 'See guys, he's happy!!'
CBS Sports Writer Robby Kalland wrote in a story published late Wednesday night, 'This appeared to be a clear situation where the stress of the moment left Murray-Boyles as soon as he heard his name called.'
Murray-Boyles quickly rose to the top at the University of South Carolina, becoming an All-SEC Freshman. He averaged 16.8 points per game in the 2024-2025 season.
When asked by NBA TV what is the first thing he will do when he gets to Toronto, Murray-Boyles said, 'Post on my Instagram story, put a Drake song in there and Imma @ him,' referring to the Canadian rapper.

Disgraced Food Network star announces closure of her flagship restaurant 12 years after racism scandal

Former Food Network star Paula Deen unexpectedly shuttered her two Savannah, Georgia restaurants on Friday. The 78-year-old disgraced TV personality and chef announced the closures of The Lady & Sons and The Chicken Box via Facebook and her website, Deen — whose career took a hit when she admitted to using a racial slur in 2013 — wrote to fans, 'Hey, y'all, my sons and I made the heartfelt decision that Thursday, July 31st, was the last day of service for The Lady & Sons and The Chicken Box.' She continued in the note, which was also signed by her sons Jamie, 58, and Bobby, 55, 'Thank you for all the great memories and for your loyalty over the past 36 years. 'We have endless love and gratitude for every customer who has walked through our doors. We are equally grateful to our incredible staff — past and present — whose hard work, care, and hospitality made The Lady & Sons what it was. 'Savannah will always be our home, and we'll always be here to support our wonderful community.' Amid the shock shutdowns, the family is attending to their other businesses. 'We will now focus our attention on the four Paula Deen's Family Kitchen locations across the country—in Pigeon Forge, Myrtle Beach, Nashville, and Branson,' the letter read. In just a few days the trio will be on-site at one of their remaining eateries. 'We're excited to continue visiting these restaurants regularly, starting with Branson on August 8th,' said the correspondence. They directed patrons to a phone number and email for future reservations, events, and catering inquiries. The message was signed off with 'Love & Best Dishes.' It comes 12 years after Food Network axed the celebrity chef's TV show, Paula's Home Cooking series. The cancellation was due to backlash from a deposition in which Deen confessed to using a racial slur. By Friday the doors were shuttered and a written explanation was plastered on the windows In an interview with CBS News, Savannah resident Martin Rowe said about the now-defunct restaurants: 'Nobody knew anything was wrong.' He added: 'I walk by there two or three times a week at lunch, and it was always packed.' The Lady & Sons was Deen's 'flagship restaurant' and was established in June 1989. Meanwhile, The Chicken Box was much newer, having opened just two years ago in 2023. In late May the restaurant was forced to briefly suspend service in the wake of electrical issues caused by inclement weather. An Instagram post dated May 28 included the caption: 'Still having electrical issues after the flooding y'all- elevator is janky now as well. Hopefully back tomorrow. Stay tuned. Thank y'all.' It included a photo of a sign outside the business that read: 'We hope to re-open tomorrow for lunch service. This flood did a real number on us. Sorry y'all - Jamie.'

I had a butt injection in Los Angeles' most walkable area - where you don't need to hire a car

There are some things that are just 'so LA'. Think palm trees, celeb-spotting, Lululemon-clad women holding their overpriced Hailey Bieber-inspired crafted drinks - and, more importantly, traffic. After hopping off the plane at LAX with a dream and my cardigan, I'm keenly anticipating all the glitz and glamour awaiting me, while dreading the amount of time I'm about to be stuck in a car this week. But, forget what you've you've heard about needing to rent a car in LA, there's a part of the City of Angels you can actually walk around and still feel like an A-lister - West Hollywood. There's so much to see here, including the Sunset Strip, Design District and Santa Monica Blvd, - and you can see it all in breathtaking views from the Skybar of my Alice in Wonderland-themed hotel, Mondrian. This hotel's location is testament to why WeHo is known as LA's most walkable area. Here, I'm a stone's throw from The Comedy Store - often deemed the greatest stand-up comedy club in the world; The Viper Room, a nightclub partly owned by Johnny Depp; and The Abbey, a favourite bar of Elizabeth Taylor and the inspiration for Chappel Roan's hit song Pink Pony Club. Naturally, the food scene in West Hollywood is remarkable, and you won't even need to leave your hotel to find a decent joint. At Mondrian, I dine at the newly opened Casa Madera which offers delectable Mexican cuisine under starry lights and large open windows showcasing the painting-like sunset. While the hotel itself is pretty swanky, the restaurant is its standout jewel, with some of the most good-looking patrons and views I have ever seen. I also eat at Ladyhawk, a restaurant in the Kimpton LA Peer Hotel, which won Best New Restaurant in LA Magazine, thanks to its prodigy chef Charbel Hayek. The Middle Eastern spot has one of the most delicious mezze platters I've tasted, complete with fresh hummus, a muhammara dish made of roasted red peppers. And for breakfast, I visit another famous hotel - Sunset Tower, which served as residence to Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor. But I didn't go to LA just to eat - it's all about the active lifestyle here. After a morning workout at Taylor Swift's favourite fitness studio DOGPOUND, I head out on an e-bike tour with Bikes + Hikes to learn more about WeHo - where porn theatres and brothels have been replaced by cannabis lounge, State Social House, and rows and rows of cannabis dispensaries. Even actor Woody Harrelson has his own one - aptly named The Woods. I choose not to indulge in any of the green stuff - opting instead for some relaxation. And you certainly won't be lacking that in West Hollywood, as it has the largest number of wellness offerings on the West Coast. I try several treatments, including the red carpet facial at Bamford Spa at 1 Hotel - a go-to for the likes of Jennifer Coolidge. I sip on tea and freshly made smoothies while awaiting my appointment. Even before the facial, I'm feeling more relaxed, sipping on tea and freshly made smoothies while waiting for my appointment. And after, my face is positively glowing, with my skin having gone from dry to dewy in just an hour. But I feel like a fully fledged Angelino after the two treatments I have at Next Health - a vitamin injection in my butt and cryotherapy. It might sound mad having a bum injection, but the Beauty B shot is full of good stuff for skin, hair and nail health, like biotin and folic acid. I'm usually apprehensive about injecting anything into my body, and after seeing two of my friends get light-headed from the treatment, I do have doubts for a second - but watching the more regular customers look so nonchalant as they have vitamin drips via IV and red light therapy eases my nerves. I feel like a fully fledged Angelino after my visit to NEXT Health - where I have a vitamin injection in my butt and cryotherapy. LEFT: The chairs for vitamin drips via IV. RIGHT: The treatments menu Anyway, when in Hollywood! While I can't say I feel a noticeable difference after the glute injections, the cryotherapy is one of the most refreshing treatments I've had done. The advanced cold therapy reaches temperatures as low as -65°C in just three minutes, and although my eyelashes do freeze over, I have Taylor Swift on in the background helping the time fly by - and I'd be keen to be frozen again! I feel like even more of an A-lister later, when I take a helicopter ride across the city, with Maverick Helicopters, flying over the Hollywood sign, Santa Monica Pier, Universal Studios and Harry Potter World. Suspended over such iconic locations I'd only ever seen in films before, I'm almost too starstruck to remember my fear of heights.

Stephen A. Smith blasts Michelle Obama over Trump comments

Stephen A. Smith has snapped back at Michelle Obama after her brutal assessment of ESPN this week — taking aim at the former First Lady over 'offensive' comments she made about voting for Donald Trump last year. Obama savaged ESPN and its on-screen personalities, including First Take star Smith, on the latest episode of her 'IMO' podcast after comparing the network to reality TV show The Real Housewives of Atlanta. She said: 'It's the same drama, and they're yelling at each other, and they don't get along, you know? I mean, Stephen A. Smith, he's just like every other talk show host.' In the wake of her 'Real Housewives' jibe, Smith responded to Obama on the latest episode of his YouTube show. After urging her to invite people onto the IMO podcast with 'dissenting opinions', he hit out at the 61-year-old for her rhetoric about Trump and the Republican party ahead of last year's presidential election. 'Michelle Obama, I wanna take this opportunity to remind you that while you are revered by me personally, and I truly, truly mean that with the greatest sincerity, I'm still a bit salty at you,' Smith said. 'When you were campaigning on behalf of the former Vice President Kamala Harris, you said a vote for Trump was a vote against you and a vote against y'all as women. I want to say for the record — I took major offense to that. 'I think to this day that is the only thing that I didn't like that you said, I didn't appreciate it. Because there's so many things that go into deciding where your vote is going to go. For some people, it's all about the economy. For others, it's all about national security. For some people, it is immigration. For some people, it's safety in the streets of America. Long before they think about pro-choice or pro-life.' Smith then briefly praised Obama after branding her 'sensational' and claiming that both she and husband Barack would beat Trump in an election if either of them decide to run in the future. He then addressed her comments about ESPN, which he 'respectfully disagreed' with after hearing the comparison to the Real Housewives. 'So this doesn't have anything to do with what you were talking about, how sports and reality TV mirror one another, even though we would beg to differ,' the ESPN host continued. 'Because a lot of things on reality TV are made-up situations and scenarios to provoke reactions and all of that stuff. We're at sports, that's live entertainment, and you're actually competing against one another is big time. No, reality TV is not like that. You're so wrong about that, about that assertion, but that's neither here nor there.' 'You will never hear me utter a negative word about you, but I respectfully disagreed and still remain pretty salty about what you said about us,' Smith said, before adding that Obama 'sort of blackmail[ed] us emotionally into trying to compel us to vote one way or another.' Smith, widely considered the face of ESPN, emerged as a shock presidential candidate earlier this year after a national survey revealed that he would receive more support than several high-profile Democrat hopefuls in three years' time.
