Soccer-Four players each from England and Spain in UEFA's Euro 2025 team of tournament
(Reuters) -Four players each from both finalists were named in UEFA's team of the tournament for the Women's Euro on Monday, as Spain's golden boot winner Esther Gonzalez was sidelined in favour of England strikers Alessia Russo and Chloe Kelly.
Russo scored the equaliser for England in Sunday's final and Kelly netted the winning penalty, helping her country secure their second European championship in a row. Kelly's strike late in extra time helped England beat Italy in the semi-finals.
Germany's Jule Brand, who scored two goals and provided two assists for the semi-finalists, was also included among the strikers.
Player of the tournament Aitana Bonmati featured in an all-Spanish midfield, while Hannah Hampton, whose heroics during the penalty shootout ensured victory for England, was picked as the custodian.
The Women's Euros 2025 team of the tournament is as follows:
Goalkeeper: Hannah Hampton (England).
Defenders: Lucy Bronze (England), Irene Paredes (Spain), Elena Linari (Italy), Franziska Kett (Germany).
Midfielders: Patri Guijarro (Spain), Aitana Bonmati (Spain), Alexia Putellas (Spain)
Forwards: Jule Brand (Germany), Alessia Russo (England), Chloe Kelly (England).

Rovanpera had not led a gravel rally this season before Friday but he hit the front after the second stage and was fastest in three of the day's nine stages. "It was a nice day, but not easy by any means. I am not really in my comfort zone at the moment, but we are pushing hard," he said. Both Rovanpera and reigning world champion Neuville agreed the stages had been too fast for comfort. "All flat-out and just taking risks -- not at all what I like," said the Hyundai driver. Hyundai's championship leader Ott Tanak hit a tree on the seventh stage and was 10th. Toyota title rival Elfyn Evans, who is a single point behind, was seventh with teammate Sebastien Ogier in sixth. The four-times world champion was summoned after the second session at the Hungaroring as stewards reviewed the video evidence. "Shortly after Car 1 was released from its garage, the driver of Car 1 (Verstappen) was observed to have thrown a towel out of the cockpit," they said in a statement. "The driver explained that while in the garage, the face towel had slipped from his lap to the side of the seat and the team was unaware that it remained in the cockpit. "When the driver realised it was there, he moved to the far right of the track and attempted to throw it as far away from the car and the track as possible." The towel landed on the asphalt, however, and remained there to the end of the session. The stewards accepted that the towel was more dangerous in than out, with the potential to become lodged in the footwell and interfere with Verstappen's ability to control the car fully. They also ruled that Red Bull had therefore released the car in an unsafe condition, although less serious than leaving a hard object in the cockpit. Cycling-Local hero Squiban storms to second straight Tour de France Femmes stage win
FRANCE (Reuters) -France's Maeva Squiban delighted home fans with a solo victory on Stage 7 of the Tour de France Femmes on Friday, her second win in two days, becoming only the fourth rider to claim back-to-back stages at the race. The 23-year-old attacked on the upper slopes of the Col du Granier (8.9km at 5.4%) to reach the finish of the hilly stage alone, which lifted the UAE Team ADQ rider to second in the polka dot jersey standings, level on 17 points with Dutchwoman Silke Smulders. A 17-rider breakaway had lit up the 159.7km stage from Bourg-en-Bresse, with Fiona Mangan (Winspace Orange Seal) becoming the first Irish rider to win an intermediate sprint at the Tour. The move split on the Cote de Saint-Franc before Squiban's decisive attack on the final climb. Mauritian rider Kim Le Court Pienaar (AG Insurance-Soudal) lost ground on the Granier but finished sixth to retain the yellow jersey. Mountains classification leader Elise Chabbey (FDJ-Suez) was distanced from the peloton before Squiban's climb. Saturday's mountain stage will be from Chambery to Saint-Francois-Longchamp.
