Kenaf industry in Malaysia poised to thrive with five-year roadmap, says plantation minister
He stated that his ministry is collaborating with the director-general and officials from the National Kenaf and Tobacco Board (LKTN) to develop a comprehensive roadmap for the industry.
'To strengthen the kenaf sector, we must identify leading producers, engage with farmers, and boost the value-added products derived from kenaf to 60 per cent, ensuring they are recognised as Malaysian-made goods,' he noted.
He was speaking to reporters after officiating the National Kenaf and Tobacco Board 2025 Appreciation Ceremony here today.
Johari also emphasised the need for a clear five-year plan with defined targets to secure the long-term growth and resilience of the industry. — Bernama

During the visit to Moscow, Sultan Ibrahim will be accorded a state welcome at the Kremlin, followed by an official meeting with President Putin. His Majesty will also attend a state banquet hosted by the Russian president. Sultan Ibrahim is also scheduled to visit several leading Russian innovation hubs, including the Central Automotive Development Centre (NAMI) and the Tochka Kipeniya Technology and Innovation Hub. Following the engagements in Moscow, His Majesty will proceed to Kazan in the Republic of Tatarstan on Aug 8. Tatarstan, a Muslim-majority autonomous republic within the Russian Federation, plays a unique role in fostering interfaith understanding and cultural exchange. While in Kazan, Sultan Ibrahim is expected to grant an audience to Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and tour a local helicopter manufacturing and assembly facility. The state visit highlights Malaysia's commitment to exploring new diplomatic and economic frontiers while furthering international cooperation rooted in mutual respect and shared interests.

EAIC backs 13MP focus on integrity and governance reforms
PUTRAJAYA: The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) has welcomed the government's strong focus on integrity, abuse of power, and financial leakage in the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP). The commission highlighted its alignment with these goals as a key oversight body for enforcement agencies. EAIC chairman Tan Sri Dr Ismail Bakar praised the government's commitment to transparent and accountable governance, calling it crucial for restoring public confidence in national institutions. He quoted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, stating, 'Sometimes what damages the people's trust is not simply misconduct, but failure to act when injustice occurs.' Ismail stressed that fostering integrity is a shared responsibility across all sectors, including the private sector and civil society. 'A culture of integrity must be implemented at all levels to maintain public trust in institutions,' he said in a statement.
