Broncos' Nik Bonitto Gets Positive Contract Update
Bonitto, who was one of the top linebackers in football last season for the Broncos, finished on the second team All-Pro list and was a candidate for the Defensive Player of the Year award, finishing ninth. With 13.5 sacks, 48 tackles, two forced fumbles, four pass deflections, and an interception for good measure, Bonitto did it all.

With his contract situation still being unresolved, it was reported on Tuesday that the team is looking to get something done in the near future.
According to the Denver Gazette, the Broncos linebacker is looking for a deal in 'excess of $20 million per season.'

'Now, Bonitto, who has one year left on his contract, is eligible for a lucrative extension, and the Broncos are having discussions about it. A source said Bonitto is seeking in excess of $20 million per season. In the meantime, he reported for the April 21 start of offseason drills and is waiting to see how the process unfolds,' they wrote.

$20 million per season for one of the better linebackers in the National Football League seems like a fair deal.
Contracts are only getting more expensive, and the longer the Broncos wait, the more Bonitto will be.
If the team wants to get a deal done over the next year, doing so now might be the better plan. Allowing other linebackers to sign more lucrative deals before next offseason will only require Denver to give up more in a deal.

Red River Rivalry beef breaks out in Denver Broncos camp between former Longhorn, Sooner
A Red River Rivalry has broken out at Denver Broncos training camp and the beef isn't even about the Longhorns and Sooners. (Although it probably actually is) Texas Ex Malcolm Roach and former Sooners WR Marvin Mims have been going back and forth with snack talk all training camp long. Mims let the media in on the beef last week. Mims says the smack-talking at practice is all Roach, who happens to be Mims' locker neighbor. "I sit next to him in the locker room, guy doesn't shut up," Mims said of Roach. "He's talking crap to receivers. It's like, 'Dude, like, you're a fat guy. Like, go worry about that. Leave me alone.' But, no, we're always going back and forth. But with him, it's just a whole 'nother deal." Roach addressed Mims the next day to the media. "Y'all think I really worry about 19, bruh?" Roach said. "I see him every day at the locker right by mine. He talk all -- you all think I talk, he really talk more than me -- but, I ain't worried about Marvin. Because Marvin know he not about to cut that ball back across the middle. That's all I really have to say on that. And Marvin like a mosquito, bro, like he need to worry about that. I could lose this weight. He can't change them looks." Roach, a 6-3, 290-pound defensive tackle, towers over the 5-11, 182-pound Mims. The 27-year-old Roach is coming off the best season with 43 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Mims was an All-Pro last year after totaling 1,147 all-purpose yards and scoring six touchdowns in 2024. Broncos' Sean Payton makes brass Bo Nix prediction for ‘next two years'
Everyone needs a boss to believe in them and Bo Nix certainly does. Broncos head coach Sean Payton has trust in his young quarterback — a lot of it. 'He's going to be one of the top four or five quarterbacks in the league the next two years,' Payton said in an interview with Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson. 'That's what we're seeing right now. He doesn't take sacks. He's got exceptional arm strength. … He threw the longest ball — (67) air yards against Cincinnati. He can run. AP Nix showed some tremendous flashes as a rookie, finishing his 17 games with 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, adding 430 yards and four touchdowns on the ground, too. In college, Nix spent three seasons at Auburn and two with Oregon. His final season with the Ducks was when he truly exploded to stardom, as he threw for 45 touchdowns with just three interceptions en route to a third-place Heisman Trophy finish. Nix led the nation in completions and completion percentage at 364 and 77.4, respectively. While he was the 12th pick in the 2024 draft, there were still five other quarterbacks taken ahead of him — Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, Michael Penix and JJ McCarthy. 3 Bo Nix is looking for a second-year leap this upcoming season after a promising rookie campaign. Nix was the second-most successful rookie of the bunch last season, leading the Broncos to a 10-7 record and a playoff berth, a better outcome than any rookie quarterback and their team aside from Daniels and the Commanders. Led by the 25-year-old quarterback, Payton has high hopes for the entire team, not just Nix. 3 Sean Payton is entering his third season as the Broncos' head coach. AP 'The short-term goal is winning the division,' he said. 'But this is a team capable of winning the Super Bowl. I've coached six teams that I thought could win the Super Bowl. Some went to championship games, some to the playoffs … This is my seventh team that I think has that.' Payton coached the Saints for 15 years and won one Super Bowl. He was the offensive mastermind who helped Drew Brees thrive as an all-time great quarterback.
