When generative AI first entered the mainstream, it created a wave of excitement across the world. Entrepreneurs saw it as a way to unlock productivity, streamline operations, and speed up decision-making. But as with most technologies, the initial excitement has been replaced by a more sober reality.
Using AI is not the same as using it well. Many founders have learned this the hard way. What starts as an experiment to save time often turns into extra work. Unlike the countless AI prompt guides floating around online, this one is structured like a university-level program. It is built on a formal academic framework, created in partnership with Professor Rick Dakan from Ringling College of Art and Design and Professor Joseph Feller from University College Cork. The program is also supported by the Higher Education Authority of Ireland.
More than just informative, this course offers a practical roadmap for working with AI in a professional context. For entrepreneurs looking to use AI more strategically, it offers more than just knowledge. It comes with a certificate of completion, which, in today's job market, is a smart credential to add to your resume. It shows potential employers or investors that you understand not just how AI works, but how to apply it in a thoughtful, results-driven way.
In a startup or growing company, time and budget are always under pressure. When AI is used without guidance or structure, it can waste both. But you could absolutely use it to gather summaries of competitor activity or synthesize customer reviews into a digestible report. This skill ensures that AI is used with intention rather than by habit.
Most people know that AI needs prompts, but few know how to craft them well. Description is about giving AI clear, structured input so it can return exactly what you want. That means specifying the tone, the style, the format, and even the point of view.
If you were asking AI to help with a pitch deck, you wouldn't just type 'make a pitch deck.' You would explain that it's for a Series A round, for a logistics-focused SaaS company, and that it should be written in the voice of a CFO. You would outline the ten slides you need and how the financial projections should be formatted. That kind of precision can turn AI from a basic assistant into a capable contributor.
One of the biggest risks with AI is assuming the output is correct just because it sounds convincing. Discernment is the ability to review what AI produces with a thoughtful, critical eye. You need to check for logic, consistency, and accuracy. Did the AI ignore an important part of the prompt? Did it invent something that seems plausible but isn't?
This skill mirrors how managers review human work. You don't just look at the final product. You ask how the conclusions were reached and whether they align with your standards. That habit is just as important when dealing with AI.
Even when AI does most of the work, final responsibility lies with the human. Diligence means carefully reviewing everything before it is shared, especially with clients, stakeholders, or investors. It also means being upfront about when and how AI was used.
If you use AI to help write a board report, you need to be confident in every sentence. You are accountable for the end result, and this step protects both your credibility and your organization's reputation. Diligence also plays a role in choosing the right tools and being thoughtful about how they fit into your workflow.
The partnership behind this course is also worth noting. GenAI job postings rise across Europe: Which countries lead the way?

Recent figures reveal a sharp rise in the share of job postings mentioning generative AI (GenAI) over the past two years across Europe, North America, and Australia. 'Nearly every job will be impacted by AI (artificial intelligence) at some point,' said Pawel Adrjan, Director of Economic Research at Indeed. In major European economies, the share of GenAI-related job postings more than doubled in the 12 months to March 2025, according to the global hiring platform Indeed. GenAI jobs refer to roles involving the development, implementation, or oversight of generative artificial intelligence technologies. This could include positions building GenAI features, or roles leveraging this tech to create more efficient processes such as reviewing data, summarising reports, or drafting written or creative materials. Ireland is leading the way by a significant extent in Europe when it comes to these kinds of jobs. Indeed data shows that, as of 31 March 2025, more than 0.7% of Irish job postings include terms related to GenAI. This is an increase of 204%, with the share more than tripling in just one year. The figure was only 0.02% in the same period in 2023, highlighting a tremendous rise over the past two years. For comparison, job openings in Ireland for chefs currently represent 1.1% of total postings. Opportunities for lorry drivers and bartenders represent 0.8% and 0.6% respectively. These figures highlight Ireland's position at the forefront of digital innovation in the European labour market. "Ireland's leading presence in GenAI job postings reflects the country's well-established technology sector and its role as a European base for many global firms,' Pawel Adrjan told Euronews Business. 'With a high concentration of tech employers, including major multinationals and a number of start-ups, it's natural we would see a proportionate increase in GenAI roles there too,' he added. Globally recognised names such as Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, and Tencent, among many others, have established significant European operations in Ireland. Adrjan of Indeed also noted that the steady growth in AI-related roles is also indicative of Ireland's focus on industries like software, financial services, and life sciences, which are increasingly integrating AI tools into their operations. Several major EU and international markets — including Germany, France, Australia, the US, the UK, and Canada — lag behind Ireland in incorporating GenAI into job roles. In each of these countries, the share of job postings mentioning GenAI remains at or below 0.3% as of late March 2025. However, the share has risen by around 100% or more in these European countries over the past year. This highlights how the job market is evolving, even if still well behind Ireland's 204% increase. The UK has the highest share of GenAI-related job postings among the three largest European economies, at 0.33% as of 31 March 2025. That's up 120% from 0.15% the previous year. Germany follows with 0.23% (a 109% annual increase), and France at 0.21% (a 91% increase). GenAI jobs appear across a range of categories. Among the top occupations in Ireland where job postings mention GenAI, mathematics leads by a wide margin. As of March 2025, 14.7% of advertised roles in mathematics referenced GenAI, significantly higher than any other category. This was followed by software development (4.9%), media & communications (3.9%), architecture (2.4%), and scientific research & development (2.1%). Other fields showing notable GenAI activity include industrial engineering (1.8%), legal (1.7%), marketing (1.6%), medical information (1.5%), and production & manufacturing (0.9%). Pawel Adrjan explained that in many developed markets, ageing populations are contributing to labour shortages and widening skills gaps. As a result, employers face growing competition for talent and are increasingly turning to skills-first hiring approaches, including the use of AI to expand and enhance their workforce. While nearly every job will be impacted by AI at some point, Adrjan emphasised that human intelligence remains a key requirement. 'We know that GenAI tools are an excellent resource to enhance efficiencies, but they are currently limited in comparison to human expertise,' he said. Joint research by Indeed and the World Economic Forum earlier this year showed that humans will remain an essential part of the global workforce as AI continues to evolve. Indeed analysed over 2,800 work-related skills to assess GenAI's potential to substitute employees. The findings show that around two-thirds (69%) are unlikely to be replaced by GenAI, underscoring the continued importance of human expertise in the workplace. The chart above shows the likelihood of certain skills to be replaced or substituted by GenAI. They are ranked from 'very low capacity' (hard to replace) to 'high capacity' (easy to replace). AI and Big Data, as well as reading, writing, and mathematics are on the 'high capacity' side of the scale. On the 'very low capacity' side of the scale, we can see sensory-processing abilities, along with empathy and active listening.

On average, only 59% of Europe's workforce agrees with the statement: 'Taking everything into account, I would say this is a great place to work,' according to the 2025 European Workforce Study report. That figure does vary significantly from nation to nation, however. Countries like Denmark, Norway and Sweden rank at the top with 75%, 73% and 68% satisfaction, respectively. While Poland, Greece and Italy see satisfaction rates of just 47%, 44% and 43%. The level of satisfaction of employees appears to correlate directly with productivity when measuring the GDP per hour worked of each country. And while productivity already has a huge impact on a company and its profits, there could be a great knock-on effect for a business. Euronews Business spoke to Laurent Millan, solution consulting manager for Customer Experience (CX) and Employee Experience (EX) at NTT Data, to discuss why the two sides are so closely linked. 'If you capture a customer, it costs some money. But if a customer can switch rapidly away from your brands to another because they have a poor experience with you, then that's a waste of money,' Millan told Euronews. Good customer service is intrinsically linked to well-trained and experienced staff. 'The biggest challenge for companies, for like two to three years now, is to have their employees have the right level of experience so they stay because it's a lot of money to onboard new employees,' he added. Across Europe, LinkedIn data suggests there is a general trend for increased workforce mobility. Those entering the workforce now will have twice as many jobs in their career as those who joined the workforce 15 years ago. A high turnover of staff is not only costly, but it also leads to reduced productivity, as it often takes a new employee several weeks or months to get up to speed in a role. The knock-on effects of this downstream on inefficiency or reduced productivity could be enough to lose a consumer. 'That's a lot of disruption when employees leave companies, for customers,' Millan added. 'CX drives loyalty for customers. So it's very interesting in terms of growth because that's a way that you can leverage to differentiate, to capture new customers'. C-suite overconfidence in AI could prove bad for business, says survey Millan suggested simple things, such as ensuring seamless work-from-home capabilities and high-quality IT tools, can improve the employee experience. Good work tools to allow for flexible working are vital for employee retention, as hybrid workers are least likely to look to leave their current role. In the European Workforce Study report, 50% of hybrid workers said they were 'Happy, where I am', whereas only 44% of onsite workers and 37% of remote workers selected this option. Millan particularly highlighted agentic AI as a vital tool, as he believes it will create 'a new dimension for CX and for EX.' 'We think that agentic AI is not like a standalone thing that you do. Agentic AI should bring autonomy, so it's about building autonomous capabilities,' Millan explained, adding that 'it should bring reasoning capabilities, it should be bringing context. This is also where you create value.' Millan was confident that agentic AI would bring a degree of flexibility necessary for the modern era. 'I've seen so many bots, agents, call it whatever you want, that have been developed very nicely but then cannot evolve. But businesses always have new requests, always have new stuff that they want to implement so it should be flexible.'
