Devendra Fadnavis' open invite to Uddhav Thackeray? ‘Can think about scope of coming to…'
Speaking on the occasion of Uddhav Thackeray's farewell from the Maharashtra Vidhan Parishad, Fadnavis stated that his government doesn't have any 'scope' to come into Opposition until 2029.
"At least till 2029, there is no scope for us to come there (Opposition). Uddhav Ji can think about the scope of coming to this side (ruling party) and that can be thought about in a different way, but there is absolutely no scope left for us to come there (Opposition)," PTI quoted CM Fadnavis as saying.
Earlier on 11 July, after the assembly cleared the Maharashtra Special Public Security Bill, Uddhav Thackeray had taken a swipe at the ruling Mahayuti government, saying that the bill should be renamed as "BJP security bill".
In his accusations, Thackeray said the ruling government is 'misusing majority' while alleging that the bill will allow the government to 'pick up' ordinary people and imprison them.
"They can pick up anyone, including ordinary people, and imprison them. This bill is similar to previous acts like MESA and TADA. This bill should be called the 'BJP security bill' instead of the public security bill, as they believe speaking out against the BJP is tantamount to criticising the country. Currently, we don't support this bill," Thackeray had said.
CM Fadnavis, while addressing the Question Hour session in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, informed that 41,193 missing children have been traced so far through 'Operation Muskaan'.
He also added that 4,960 women and 1,364 children were traced under Operation Khoj in 2025 alone.
CM Fadnavis said his government has established 'Missing Cell' in all police stations after taking such cases seriously. The cell's responsibility has been handed over to senior women officers, he added.
The CM also clarified that data is being shared between the state and the Centre through the Missing Portal, with the record of every missing person uploaded and updated on time.
When Leader of Opposition Ambadas Danve raised the point that only finding people is not enough but concrete policies should also be made on social aspects like child marriage and human trafficking, CM Fadnavis assured that the government will analyse these cases from a sociological perspective.

DEHRADUN: Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister of State Meenakshi Lekhi sustained a serious back injury after falling from a horse in Darchen, Tibet, during the second batch of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. She has since been brought back to Gunji, in Uttarakhand, with evacuation to Delhi delayed due to inclement weather. Lekhi, who was part of the second group of Indian pilgrims, fell while on horseback during the journey in Tibet, making it impossible for her to continue. She was swiftly rescued by personnel of the 7th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at Lipulekh Pass and subsequently brought to the ITBP camp in Gunji. 'She is currently under medical supervision at the Gunji camp. According to ITBP doctors, she is stable and fit for air travel, and is expected to be flown directly to Delhi on Monday, weather permitting,' said an administrative official. While initial plans involved airlifting Lekhi to Dehradun from Nabhidhang, she has reportedly expressed a preference to return directly to Delhi. The Pithoragarh district administration has completed preparations for the same. However, poor visibility and incessant rain in Gunji and surrounding areas have hampered helicopter operations. 'The helicopter could not take off due to unfavourable weather conditions, and there is no immediate sign of improvement,' said an official on Sunday. Lekhi is said to be disappointed at being unable to complete the pilgrimage, which she had undertaken with great enthusiasm. This year, 750 Indian pilgrims were selected for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, 500 via Nathula Pass in Sikkim, and 250 via Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand. Lekhi's group included 48 pilgrims, comprising 34 men and 14 women. The first batch of pilgrims has returned, while the third batch is currently in Tibet. The fourth and fifth batches are scheduled to arrive at the Dharchula base camp on August 5 and 9, respectively.

‘Will teach you a lesson': NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar booked for shouting at Mumbai cop
NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar was booked on the charge of obstructing public servants in discharging duty after he shouted at a sub-inspector inside a police station here while trying to meet a party worker injured in a clash, an official said on Sunday. A viral video shows Rohit Pawar, grandnephew of NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, yelling at the sub-inspector in Marathi, 'Keep your voice down, keep your voice down. If you raise your hand, I will teach you a lesson'. The incident unfolded after Rohit Pawar had gone to Azad Maidan police station in south Mumbai along with NCP (SP) MLA Jitendra Awhad to meet an injured party worker following a clash in the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan building between supporters of Awhad and BJP legislator Gopichand Padalkar on Thursday. After the clash, members of both groups were detained inside the Vidhan Bhavan and were eventually handed over to the police. Based on a complaint, a case has been registered against Rohit Pawar for allegedly obstructing public servants in discharging duty, an official said. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, meanwhile, expressed his displeasure at Rohit Pawar's behaviour, saying such conduct by a few leaders maligns the image of all public representatives. 'Many people and even journalists are saying that they (MLAs) have started thinking themselves too smart and think that they are above the law. When a few public representatives behave wrongly, everyone gets blamed,' he told reporters in Pune when asked about the viral video of his nephew Rohit Pawar. Earlier in the day, the Pune Guardian Minister chaired a meeting of officials of various departments. 'No public representative, including myself, should behave in such a manner. BJP high command is yet to ask me to resign: Raja Singh
Hyderabad Goshamhal MLA T. Raja Singh, who is yet to resign despite the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) 'suspending' him from the party, said that the party high command has not given him any indication to quit. 'If they ask me to resign, I will do it immediately and contest as an Independent,' Mr. Raja Singh said on Sunday, while speaking to reporters in Hyderabad after performing puja for Bonalu. 'If Union Home Minister Amit Shah asks me to resign, I will do so immediately.' Mr. Singh also made it clear that he would not join the Congress that has a 'political association with the AIMIM'. I will work with any organisation that works for Sanatana Dharma, he said. However, he said that he would extend help to anyone in establishing a model Goshala. He claimed that a senior Congress Minister spoke to him and asked for his cooperation for the Goshala.
