Remembering ‘Go Goa Gone' Raj Nidimoru says: 'Saif Ali Khan was game to dye his hair blonde, use the accent, learn Russian curse words'

A decade ago, '
Go Goa Gone
' stormed into cinemas with a zombie outbreak and a bizarrely blonde
Saif Ali Khan
, redefining the limits of genre and comedy in Hindi cinema. Directed by
Raj Nidimoru
and Krishna DK, the film blended horror, stoner comedy, and satire into a cult classic that fans still rave about. Remembering the first of its kind movie, Raj Nidimoru, in an exclusive conversation with us, talked about its genesis, the cast, and the unfulfilled dream of a
sequel
.
While talking to us, Raj Nidimoru shared, 'What I remember the most is, we wanted to break the heroic one-man army mold. We were seeing every hero being the guy who can do it all — the one-man army, the guy who's good at everything, the perfect hero. So my thought at that point was, why can't our hero be a slacker? Why can't my protagonist be someone who can't even get up to pick up the television remote because it's two feet away?'
Go Goa Gone - A slacker comedy
'We wanted to make slackers our protagonists, and it looks like it was the first of its kind — I didn't realize that. That was the idea, the genesis. These guys, they're the ones who would have to stand up and protect themselves and others, and become the heroes at the end of it.'

Today, horror comedies are a big deal, and 'Go, Goa, Gone' came at a point when nobody was thinking about mixing the genres. Weighing in on this, Raj said, 'The idea was to create a slacker comedy—first of its kind—and a
horror comedy
in a way, also first of its kind at that point. Why not mix genres? I used to see all these song-and-dance movies where everybody goes to a party and dances. So we thought we should take that genre, where people go to a party, it looks like a great, happy film, and then it all turns into a nightmarish mess.'
Further, on highlighting what prompted the decision to bring zombies to the big screen, he said, 'The point was to say that we live life like zombies—in our routines, our phones, our office, home — so we thought, literally, let's transform them into zombies. That was the thought. And that started our love for the horror-comedy genre. From that came Stree, and while we worked on Stree as a franchise, we also explored drama like Shor In The City.'
The cast of 'Go Goa Gone'
A film's success heavily depends on the selection and work of the cast, and echoing the same sentiment, Raj said, 'Casting was the final good stroke. Once we had Saif, Kunal Khemu, and Vir Das onboard, they were the best trio. I think it's still the best trio on screen. The camaraderie — people used to say, 'Wow, that's how much fun three boys can be!''
He added, 'Saif agreed to play this strange, almost comic-book action figure. He was game to dye his hair blonde, use the accent, learn Russian curse words, and all that. He was just rolling on the floor laughing during the first narration — I remember that clearly. Thanks to all of them for doing this.'
Will there ever be 'Go Goa Gone 2'
'We always wanted to do a sequel. We're usually not the sequel kind of people, but this one film was always exciting enough to make a part two of. That said, we also started creating quite a few original projects — The Family Man, Farzi, Guns & Gulaabs — and then many other new stories we're working on. I'm happier telling new stories than making sequels. My preference is to create original new worlds. That said, Go Goa Gone is something I'd love to do — but it's a complicated situation. Too many people are involved in it. Too many rights-holders. That's been the case for years now. So I don't know what's going to happen there. But I must tell you something,' said Raj
'To pull off Go Goa Gone was not easy. Everybody thought we were bonkers — especially after Shor In The City, which was critically acclaimed and won awards. People thought we were serious filmmakers. And then we said we want to do a film with zombies,' he concluded.

"We lost a great friend today": President Donald Trump pays tribute to Hulk Hogan after WWE icon dies at 71

Donald Trump and Hulk Hogan in 1988 (Image Source: Getty) Following the passing of WWE icon Hulk Hogan (real name Terry Gene Bollea), U.S. President Donald Trump was one of many to pay tribute. Hulk Hogan passed away aged 71 from a cardiac arrest, in his Clearwater, Florida home on July 24, 2025. Trump said in a Truth Social post, ' We lost a great friend today, the 'Hulkster.' Hulk Hogan was MAGA all the way — Strong, tough, smart, but with the biggest heart. He gave an absolutely electric speech at the Republican National Convention, which was one of the highlights of the entire week. Hulk Hogan will be greatly missed!' President Donald Trump highlighted Hulk Hogan's political support Donald Trump's media adviser on Hogan's loyalty and enthusiasm for politics, stating that he had always played a role in working with the "Make America Great Again" movement. In July 2024, at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Hogan shocked the nation in full "Trumpamania" style. When looking like he was getting ready to go the full Rambo, ripping his shirt open and revealing a Trump campaign tank top, he yelled, "Let Trumpamania run wild! That speech was, he said, 'one of the highlights of the entire week,' indicating cultural relevance. — wrestlelamia (@wrestlelamia) Aside from that memorable encounter, Hogan continued to be a Trump booster. He also hit the campaign trail with Trump Jr. and other MAGA stars, making appearances at rallies and banging the drum for Trump's agenda, including endorsing Trump's Real American beer brand on Truth Social. Donald Trump and Hulk Hogan: A friendship forged over three decades Donald Trump and Hulk Hogan's relationship goes back to the 1980s and was first strengthened when it was first introduced at WWE events and Trump's casino interests in Atlantis City. They met at WrestleMania IV and V, which were held at Trump Plaza, and the two formed a mutual admiration society. Although Hogan told me their relationship was 'more casual, though meaningful,' Trump apparently saw him as a close aide, calling him a 'great friend.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Global Indices Are on the Move — Time to Trade! He remained a presence, even if controversial (he was briefly removed from the WWE Hall of Fame back in 2015, only to be reinstated in 2020). The tribute from Trump is likewise mirrored by those from Hogan's WWE peers—Ric Flair, Brutus Beefcake, and from fellow MAGA sounders such as Vice President JD Vance, who deemed Hogan a "great American icon". 'After your dads affair makes national news': TikToker claims to be Andy Byron's daughter to go viral

A random TikToker stole photos and videos of a French model and claimed to be Andy Byron's daughter in the wake of the Coldplay scandal. Social media users are doing random things to gain traction as former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron 's Coldplay video with a woman who is not his wife went viral. Now, a TikToker claimed to be Andy Byron's daughter who is so shattered after her dad's affair made national headlines that she had to head off on a soul-searching trip. "I am not the CEO's daughter," French model Julie Tuzet said in a video. "You probably have seen this video of me at a fireplace 'reconnecting' with nature. It's just someone who stole my videos and my content from TikTok to create this fake news. And it's going viral," the French model said. "This is unfortunately not the first time my content is being stolen, and I'd truly appreciate this to be the last time," she said adding that she was receiving 100 messages from friends and family members asking her about the viral video which she took in Guatape, Colombia, three months ago. — gaby_goldberg (@gaby_goldberg) "It is me in the video, but the text is not mine, and the account is not mine neither," the songwriter told Newsweek. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Nvidia's AI Strategy Is Clear - But Is Wall Street Paying Attention?
