Pat McAfee finally apologizes for spreading fake sex rumor about Ole Miss student five months later

Pat McAfee has revealed he recently apologized to Mary Kate Cornett and her family in person after spreading a fake sex claim about the Ole Miss student earlier this year. Cornett, 19, was the subject of a vile internet rumor back in February which alleged that she was in a sexual relationship with the father of her University of Mississippi boyfriend, Evan Solis, also 19. The unproven accusation, which was even investigated by the FBI, left Mary Kate's family furious as they threatened legal action against anyone who shared it online. One of those people was McAfee, who discussed the false rumor live on his ESPN sports talk show on two separate occasions. Cornett ripped into the former NFL punter for doing so at the time, while claiming that he had never contacted her to find out if there was any truth to the story. McAfee then broke his silence a week later by insisting he 'never wants to be a part of anything negative in anybody's life'. Now, five months on from the start of the rumor, he has finally apologized to both Cornett and her family for spreading it. 'As a lot of you know, on February 26 of this year, we were down at the Combine on this particular program. We discussed a very viral internet story about an Ole Miss college student. We weren't clear at that time where the story originated from. It was all over the internet,' McAfee said on Wednesday's edition of his show. 'Yet by the time we talked about it, the story was everywhere. I have since learned that the story was not true, and that my show played a role in the anguish caused to a great family and especially to a young woman, Mary Kate Cornett. 'I think you all know from tuning into this program that I never want to be a source of negativity or contribute to another human's suffering. And I can now happily share with you that I recently got to meet Mary Kate and her family. And I got a chance to sincerely apologize to them and acknowledge that what I said about Mary Kate was based solely on what others were saying on the internet, or what had previously been reported by others, and that we had no personal knowledge about Mary Kate or her personal life.' McAfee then added: 'As a girl dad, I also was very thankful for the opportunity to let Mr. Cornett know that I was wildly regretful for the part that our show, our program, played in his daughter, Mary Kate's, pain. 'I know many of you are wondering why I, or we, haven't addressed this topic until now. It's a fair question. But as you might imagine, there was a lot going on behind the scenes since this all happened. 'The most important element on the timing is that I, personally, it was a decision I made, wanted to talk to the family first before addressing it publicly. And I can now say that I had the opportunity to meet them, chat with them, and they're wonderful people. And I'm very thankful that they gave me the opportunity to tell them how sorry I was that this all happened, and that our program was a part of this. 'I deeply regret all the pain that this caused. I hated watching what our show as a part of, in her interviews and reading about it. And my hope is that this can be something that we all learn from going forward. I know we certainly have. 'Our goal at this show is to make the world a happier place, a better place. To celebrate life and sports and unify folks. I, and we, don't always get it right. But we'll never stop trying.' McAfee was not the only high-profile figure to admit regret over spreading the false accusation about Cornett, with Barstool Sports boss Dave Portnoy also owning up to his mistake. Portnoy expressed regret that his media empire played a part, telling telling the Daily Mail back in April that he would be 'p***ed' if he was Cornett's family. In a statement, he said: 'I wish we didn't publish it even if it was only for 7 minutes. 'I'd be p***ed if I was the family too. I'd like to think we're better than publishing fake rumors of people not in the public eye regardless of how viral the story was.'

Report: Trump told he was named in Epstein files months ago

Donald Trump was informed months ago by Pam Bondi that his name appears 'multiple times' in the Jeffrey Epstein files the same day she recommended against releasing all documents, according to a new report. Senior administration officials claimed that Attorney General Bondi told Trump during a May 2025 meeting that his name was found in the Epstein documents more than previously though, among hundreds of other high-profile individuals. The files contained 'unverified hearsay' about Trump and the individuals who had social connections to Epstein, the officials claim. Bondi recommended in that same meeting, according to the Wall Street Journal , that the administration not release more files because they contained child [expletive] and personal information for victims. Trump, the sources claim, deferred to his attorney general on whether to make additional files public. Just because the president is named in the files does not implicate him in any wrongdoing or connect him to Epstein's child [sexual] trafficking crimes. Administration officials told the Journal that Bondi's May meeting with Trump was a routine briefing covering a number of topics - and the Epstein files wasn't the focus. White House communications director Steven Cheung slammed the Journal's report as 'fake news' in a statement to the Daily Mail. 'The fact is that the President kicked him out of his club for being a creep. This is nothing more than a continuation of the fake news stories concocted by the Democrats and the liberal media, just like the Obama Russiagate scandal, which President Trump was right about,' he said. Trump denied that Bondi told him his name was flagged in the files after he emerged from another meeting with her on July 15. Trump replied: 'No, no' when asked by a reporter whether his name in the files came up. He told reporters on the South Lawn that Bondi had 'given us just a very quick briefing' on their contents before accusing former FBI Director James Comey of 'making up' the files. It's already known that Trump's name appeared on Epstein's flight logs, as well as the names of his second wife Marla Maples and his son Eric and daughter Tiffany. Epstein's 'black book' contact list also included entries for Trump's first wife Ivana, their daughter Ivanka and the president's brother Robert. Trump has had recent beef with the Wall Street Journal , threatening to sue the publication and its owner Rupert Murdoch for publishing last week a piece claiming he sent Epstein a 50th birthday card with a hand-drawn outline of a naked women. The Justice Department told the Wall Street Journal that Trump was made aware of the findings as part of the 'routine briefing.' Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche reportedly said that nothing was found in the files that would mandate an additional investigation - or even prosecution. 'As part of our routine briefing, we made the President aware of the findings,' they told the Journal. The Daily Mail reached out to the Justice Department for additional details on the meeting. Bondi has drawn ire and confusion from the MAGA base for say in February that she had the Epstein 'client list' on her desk ready for review. But the July memo said there was no such list found in the DOJ review.

Hunter Biden doesn't know the meaning of shame

Even in an increasingly shameless age, Hunter Biden is pushing the envelope. For reasons perhaps known only to himself, the former first son has decided to return to the public eye to defend his father – further disgracing them both in the process. The younger Biden has spent a lifetime screwing up – and then landing on his feet, ostensibly because of his famous surname. He is alleged to have made millions as a lobbyist and for working on international business deals while Joe Biden served as a senator and then as vice-president. He is believed to have made another $1.5 million during his brief career as an artist, which coincidentally corresponded with his father's tenure in the Oval Office. And he avoided prison time, despite two criminal convictions, after President Biden went back on his word and pardoned him. That's to say nothing of the drugs or the women – or indeed the court testimony of his late brother's widow, who testified that Hunter had introduced her to crack cocaine. Now, the younger Biden seems to imagine we've forgotten all of this, apparently believing that he is the best man to launch a quixotic solo mission to rescue his family's honour. Instead, however, he's only showcased the Bidens' trademark delusion and entitlement. During an interview with Andrew Callaghan released earlier this week, Hunter blamed almost everyone but his father for the Democrats' stunning defeat in the 2024 presidential election. 'What right do you have to step on a man who's given 52 years of his f—ing life to the service of his country, and decide that you, George Clooney, are going to take out basically a full-page ad in f—ing The New York Times to undermine the president?,' he asked. As if Clooney, a long-time Democratic supporter, who wrote a column in July last year calling on Biden to stand down, had no right to take a view on whether the party's nominee would win the election. About his father's humiliating performance during his debate with Trump last year, Hunter produced the following excuse: '[Joe Biden] flew around the world ‒ basically the mileage that he could have flown around the world three times. He's 81 years old. He's tired as s—. They give him Ambien to be able to sleep. He gets up on the stage, and he looks like he's a deer in the headlights, and it feeds into every f—ing story that anybody wants to tell.' The issue wasn't his father's disastrous performance, apparently, but the fact that Democrats refused to ignore it. During a separate conversation with former Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison, Hunter claimed: ' We lost the last election because we did not remain loyal to the leader of the party … We had the advantage of incumbency, we had the advantage of an incredibly successful administration, and the Democratic Party literally melted down.' That's the view out of Bidenworld, a land every bit as fanciful as Narnia, Oz, or Shangri-La. But it's more than fanciful. It's shameless. The instinct isn't to come clean as to what really happened, but to attack those who (belatedly) tried to expose the truth. Journalists like Jake Tapper – who Hunter appears to have a particular animus for – deserve criticism not for shining a light on the extent of the 46th president's decline and its cover-up, but for failing to do so earlier. And the public simply did not agree that Joe Biden's presidency was 'incredibly successful'. He was on track to lose to Trump well before his debate performance. Also, for the record, being 81 years old and 'tired as s—' isn't an excuse for Biden's meltdown, it's what was so concerning about it. It is only a little over six months since Joe Biden left the White House, having tarnished his legacy by clinging to power far longer than was appropriate and, yes, by bailing out his disgraceful son. It's said that time heals all wounds. Not in this case. Hunter Biden is picking at an open sore on the face of his party, and it's unlikely to recover until he returns to the wilderness for good.
