Gambia Reaffirms Support for Morocco's Territorial Integrity
The meeting took place at the Moroccan ministry of foreign affairs.
Tangara presented a letter to Bourita as a message from President Adama Barrow to King Mohammed VI.
The two parties discussed issues of mutual importance in consultation, particularly on the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), of which Gambia currently holds a rotating presidency.
King Mohammed VI is the current chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, a standing committee within OIC focused on cultural, political, social, religious and human rights in Jerusalem.
Mamadou Tangara also stressed his country's 'unambiguous' support for Moroccan sovereignty over the Western Sahara, hailing the Moroccan Autonomy Plan as the most viable path to a lasting resolution of that territorial dispute.
Tangara further highlighted Morocco's major diplomatic breakthroughs in recent years, citing the UK's decision to support the Moroccan autonomy plan.
In recent years Gambia and Morocco have built strong bilateral relations and cooperation, and they have worked together in many areas within economic and social development.
Gambia has worked with Morocco within the African Union and built several cooperation agreements . The West African country has also recently commended the Moroccan Atlantic Ocean Access Initiative, describing Morocco in 2024 as a pioneer of South-South cooperation . PLO's Ahmed Al-Tamimi Hails Morocco's Constant Support for Palestine

He also informed Bourita about the situation in Jerusalem, including Israeli acts against Palestinians. Al Tamimi is part of a delegation from the human rights department that are visiting Morocco. On Monday, Al Tamimi attended the launch of a training course for the Palestinian delegation. Running from July 14-20, the program aims to strengthen the delegation's capacities in international humanitarian law, human rights documentation, and international advocacy. As part of the training, Morocco's National Human Rights Council (CNDH) will share its expertise with the Palestinian delegation. During the launch of the training program on Monday, CNDH President Amina Bouayach reaffirmed support for the Palestinian cause, adding that the country and its people share the pain of enduring scenes of killing, starvation, displacement, and bombardment. The Palestinian cause is fundamentally a human rights matter, Bouayach said, noting that the issue 'is a test of the universality of human rights, a measure of the world's conscience, and a mirror of the credibility of international commitments and the collective ability to protect human rights and humanitarian principles.' Far-right party Vox has been fueling the tensions with acutely Islamophobic and anti-migrant rhetoric. There have been social media posts and protests, calling for 'the hunt' of migrants from North Africa, especially Moroccans, blaming them for the assault that took place last week on Friday. Vox and far-right media held anti-Islam and migrants protests, chanting Islamophobic slogans and inciting hatred and violence against migrants in the European country amid an ongoing investigation and arrests of suspects allegedly involved in the incident. Morocco projects 4.4% growth in 2025, slight slowdown in 2026
Morocco's economic growth is expected to reach 4.4% in 2025 before easing slightly to 4.0% in 2026, according to the 2026 Exploratory Economic Budget published by the High Commission for Planning (HCP) on Tuesday. «The fragmentation of international trade and persistent uncertainty are likely to weigh on global trade in goods and services, limiting the recovery of foreign demand for Moroccan exports», the report warns. According to the same report, growth in the agricultural sector is projected at 4.7% in 2025 and 3.3% in 2026, while the non-agricultural sector is expected to expand by 4.3% in 2025 and 4.0% in 2026. The current account deficit is forecast to reach 1.8% of GDP in 2025 and 1.9% in 2026. The budget deficit is expected to stand at 3.6% of GDP in 2025, narrowing to 3.4% in 2026. Meanwhile, total public debt is projected to decline slightly from 79.2% of GDP in 2025 to 78.9% in 2026.
