Sabrina Carpenter's ‘Manchild' Lyrics Seem to Be Savage Message to Ex Barry Keoghan
The song doesn't explicitly call Keoghan out by name, but it generally alludes to the annoyance of having to deal with an immature man. The chorus goes, 'Man-child / Why you always come a-running to me? / Fuck my life / Won't you let an innocent woman be?'
Keoghan and Carpenter first sparked romantic rumors in late 2023 before going public with their relationship in February 2024. Their relationship included a Met Gala date and Keoghan starring in Carpenter's music video for 'Please Please Please.'
Those lyrics seemed to have a message for him too, with her singing: 'I heard that you're an actor / So act like a stand up guy / Whatever devil's inside you / Don't let him out tonight / I tell them it's just your culture / And everyone rolls their eyes / Yeah I know / All I'm asking baby / Please please please don't prove I'm right / Please please please / Don't bring me to tears when I just did my makeup so nice / Heartbreak is one thing / My ego's another / I beg you don't embarrass me / Mother fucker ahhh / Please please please.'
Sadly, their love story didn't last and fizzled out in December 2024. A source told Entertainment Tonight, 'Things didn't end well, and they are taking space from each other. Sabrina and Barry are definitely broken up right now. Sabrina isn't sad over the breakup and is staying busy and distracted.'
The insider added that 'Sabrina is figuring out what she wants and is focused on her career.'
Carpenter hasn't dated anyone publicly since Keoghan—but chances are she has plenty of private stories to draw inspiration from, too.
Whether Keoghan or someone else is her muse, the star isn't likely to share the subject of 'Manchild.' She told W magazine last year that she doesn't want to put her love life up for public consumption. 'I get why people are interested,' she conceded. 'But they can listen to my album and decide for themselves what the songs are about.'

'It takes more than just being cordial. It takes a lot for someone to be truly close with me.' It's unclear what the future holds for Huda and Louis (especially since the two have yet to even confirm that they're actually dating), but here's hoping Huda will have some more tea to spill during the Love Island USA season 7 reunion on August 25!

Happy Gilmore 2 began production on Sept. 9, 2024, and wrapped around early December. Swift was on her Eras Tour through Dec. 8, 2024, although the singer had a break between August 21 and October 17. Still, no footage or photos of Swift on set have surfaced. In the behind-the-scenes clip of the bear scene that Netflix shared, the singer is nowhere in sight. Swift still had glowing things to say about the project on her Instagram Story last Friday. She wrote, 'Happy Gilmore 2 had me cackling and cheering the whole movie! An absolute must-watch, 13/10, go watch it on @netflix as soon as possible 🍯' Her post came one day after Kelce posted a series of photos of them together, marking his first time sharing shots of Swift on his Instagram account. A source later told People that the milestone post 'was intentional. They've been private in their own way, but this was his way of showing how serious things have become. The music video begins as the singer, 32, walks confidently down a dark street. "I'm not so sure, I've ever felt like this before," she sings. She continues walking and singing, seemingly unfazed by weight-lifiting men, an exploding car and a nun smoking a cigarette. Her husband Jordan Lutes offered his support of her work on Instagram, commenting on her post announcing the latest drop. "Beyond proud of you baby," he wrote. "This song and video are insane." The song will appear on her upcoming album. "She is such a master in the studio. This album is about letting inhibitions go, and we had so much fun making this music! It really comes across throughout," Zhone, who executive produces the project, told Rolling Stone.
