Broadway star Megan Hilty is often expected to 'pretend she's not human' as she reveals sudden injury
The 44-year-old actress recently received a Tony nomination for her role in the Broadway adaptation of the Meryl Streep film Death Becomes Her, but revealed on Wednesday (11.06.25) night that she has to take an immediate leave of absence from the show due to a vocal injury and thanked the producers for understanding that she cannot just "push through" this time.
She wrote on Instagram: "I love my job. Madeline Ashton is by far the most challenging and rewarding role I have ever taken on. The lengths to which I have gone to make sure I can physically do the show is a job in itself - the regimen is too long for this post - but I do it joyfully because, as I mentioned before, I LOVE what I do.
"Which is why it is so painful to say that I will be stepping away from my beloved DBH family for 3-4 weeks while I recover from a vocal injury that only time can heal.
"It's hard for me to admit I am human, particularly because performers are often asked to push through and pretend that we're not. I am so fortunate to work with the best producers, company, and stage managers, who don't subscribe to that way of thinking and fully support me and my fellow castmates when our bodies tell us it's time for a break."
The former Smash star then asked her fans to have "patience and understanding" for everyone in her industry as she reminded them that actors are like "athletes" in terms of what they are expected to do.
She added: "I kindly ask for your patience and understanding - not just for me, but for all Broadway performers. What we do with our teeny tiny vocal cords is nothing short of a Herculean task - one that most people take for granted and very few actually understand. I encourage you to do the research and see for yourself how your own vocal cords work - it is fascinating and I guarantee it'll make you all the more impressed the next time you see a live performance.
"We are athletes. And just like a professional basketball player, we are going to get injured from time to time - not because we aren't good at our jobs, it simply comes with the territory because of the extraordinary demands we put on our bodies.
"Thank you for your patience and support while I take this time to take care of myself to ensure my longevity with the show and my career, in general.
"In the meantime, Madeline's fabulous shoes will be filled brilliantly and I'll be counting the seconds until I can meet you back at the Lunt-Fontanne. "

Tony and Noel have not spoken since Noel kicked him out of the band but he has nothing but good things to say about the band's singer, and Noel's brother, Liam. He said: 'Everyone thinks Liam's a nutcase, but he's a shockingly nice guy. A lot of that stuff is bravado. It might be nervousness, something about him where he just can't deal with whatever it is, people in his face.'

The Bluey gnomes have made their way back to Bunnings shelves — get them before they're gone!
After selling out in record time , the popular Bluey gnomes are back. Affectionately known as the 'Hammerbarn husbands', the ceramic garden figurines will be on sale from tomorrow at Bunnings warehouses' across Australia and New Zealand. The Bluey gnomes retail for $19 each, with a limit of four per customer. After a huge success last year, Hecuba, Tony, Jeremy and Meditation Gnomes will be back on shelves. With two new additions — Bluey Groom Garden Gnome and Bluey Bride Garden Gnome. In the children's TV show, Hammerbarn is the cartoon's version of Bunnings. In the episode called Hammerbarn, the Heeler family head out on a classic weekend mission — a trip to their local hardware store. Earlier this year, seven Bunnings Warehouse stores transformed into real-life Hammerbarns for a special installation. As part of the transformation, the DIY and hardware store held meet and greets with Bluey and Bingo, and children's workshops. After the gnomes flew off the shelves, Bunnings is now bringing the boys back — but they are only available for purchase in-store. When the first batch of gnomes went on sale, listings selling Bluey products from Bunnings emerged on sites including Facebook Marketplace and eBay — advertised for hundreds of dollars more than the original price. 'The popularity of our Bluey product range has exceeded our expectations, and we're sorry to hear some customers have missed out on buying a garden gnome,' the retailer's merchandise director Jen Tucker told at the time. 'We're incredibly disappointed to see a small number of people re-selling Bluey products online at inflated prices, and we don't support this behaviour in any way.' The garden gnomes sold for $19 each in store. But were being resold for between $100 and $200 each in some listings seen by One eBay listing had a registered bid for four gnomes and other Bluey-related items for $9999. The Australian-made animated series centres around a cartoon pup and the Heelers, a charming family of anthropomorphic dogs, and has been a global sensation since hitting screens in 2018.

Tony Iommi is convinced that Ozzy Osbourne 'held out' for final Black Sabbath show
Tony Iommi thinks Ozzy Osbourne "held out" to play one last show with Black Sabbath. The heavy metal legend passed away at the age of 76 on Tuesday (22.07.25) – just two weeks after he returned to the stage for the Back To The Beginning concert in his home city of Birmingham – and Tony is convinced that his bandmate knew he would be bowing out with the epic farewell gig. The guitarist told ITV News: "I think he really just held out to do that show. I really feel – and me and Geezer (Butler) were talking about it last night – that we think he held out to do it, and just after that, he's done it and said goodbye to the fans. And that was the end of it, really. "I think he must have had something in his head that said, 'Well, this is gonna be it, the last thing I'm ever gonna do.' Whether he thought he was gonna die or what, I don't know. But he really wanted to do it, and he was determined to do it. And fair dues, he's done it." Despite Ozzy's fragile health, Tony admits that the death of his bandmate still came as a "shock for us". The 77-year-old musician said: "When I heard, it couldn't sink in. I thought, 'It can't be.' I only had a text from him the day before. It just seemed unreal, surreal. And in the night, I started thinking about it: 'God, am I dreaming all this?' But as I said before, he's not looked well through the rehearsals." Tony also reflected on a conversation he and Ozzy, who had been suffering from Parkinson's disease for many years, had in the dressing room following the Back To The Beginning gig at Villa Park. The rocker said: "He came around before he was leaving on a wheelchair that brought him in to say goodbye and have a little chat for a bit, and he seemed alright. He enjoyed it. And he said, 'Oh, it went all right, didn't it?' I said, 'Yeah, it did.'" Iommi revealed that he and Black Sabbath bandmates Terence 'Geezer' Butler and Bill Ward didn't want Ozzy to be at rehearsals every day for the gig as it would have been "too much" for him. He said: "We didn't want him there every day at rehearsal, because it's too much. He just wouldn't be able to stand it. "So they'd bring him in and he'd sit down and sing a few songs, and then we'd talk some rubbish about old times or whatever, have a laugh, and then he'd go. And that's sort of what we did, really."
