Cierra Ortega Removed from Love Island USA Season 7 Amid Racism Controversy, Family Issues Statement
The 24-year-old contestant departed the Peacock show on the July 6 episode. Host Iain Stirling briefly said she had left 'due to a personal situation,' suddenly leaving Nic Vansteenberghe, her then-villa partner, single. But behind the scenes, Cierra's departure came after a viral outcry over old posts in which she used a racial slur to describe her eyes, language long criticized for its derogatory characterization of East Asian features.
Now, her family is talking.
'As Cierra's parents, this has been one of the most painful weeks of our lives,' her family said in a statement released Sunday. 'We've seen the posts, the headlines, the hurt and the hate. And while Cierra hasn't seen any of it yet, we have. And so have the people who love her.'.
They do not dispute the validity of the outrage online. In fact, the Ortegas readily acknowledge the pain the posts caused and the need for accountability. 'We understand why people are upset, and we know accountability matters,' they said. 'But what's happening online right now has gone far beyond that.'
Cierra remains unaware of the furor, still disconnected from the public domain since she departed the villa, her family says. Sympathy was sought by the Ortegas until their daughter felt prepared to talk on her behalf, regardless of the calls for public apologies and accountability that have been issued by many viewers.
She hasn't had the chance to process any of this or speak for herself. But we know our daughter. We know her heart,' they continued. 'And when she returns, we believe she'll face this with honesty, growth, and grace.'
However, Cierra's family went into detail about threats and hate she's been receiving, even though she doesn't have access to her phone:
'The threats. The nasty messages. The attacks on her family, her friends, even her supporters, it's heartbreaking. It's uncalled for. And no one deserves that kind of hate, no matter what mistake they've made.'
The old tweets were quickly circulated on TikTok and Reddit during the early weeks of the season, and viewers demanded accountability from the show and from Cierra. Peacock and producers were silent at the time, which fueled outrage among viewers, particularly in the AAPI community, who felt that the entire ordeal had been swept quietly under the rug.
Cierra's subdued exit from the villa was instead greeted with disappointment by many and cyberbullying by others. It reflects a broader debate within the reality TV fan community about the distinction between holding contestants to account and engaging in targeted online abuse.
Cierra's family ended their statement with a call for understanding, not just for their daughter, but for everyone involved in the affair. 'While she'll always be our little girl, she's also a woman, one who will take responsibility in her own time and her own voice. Until then, we're simply asking for compassion. For patience. For basic human decency'
They also thanked those who have 'continued to show love, even when it's not easy.'
As for what's next, Cierra Ortega hasn't spoken publicly yet. The ex-contestant remains offline and out of the public eye. When she does resurface, the statement says she wants to speak for herself, on her own terms.
In a summer that's already seen its share of drama, Cierra's exit could turn out to be one of the most sobering storylines of Love Island USA, a reminder that fame, even the fleeting kind, has real-world consequences.

Leaked DMs Show Kevin Durant Defending His Legacy After Failed Season With Suns
Leaked DMs Show Kevin Durant Defending His Legacy After Failed Season With Suns originally appeared on Fadeaway World. As a member of the Houston Rockets, Kevin Durant is optimistic about the future. But before he can start his new chapter, answers must be found on what went wrong in his previous stop. In a long chat exchange with a Phoenix Suns fan, Durant came up with his explanation as he defended himself (and former head coach Mike Budenholzer) from blame. Advertisement It all started when the fan called out Durant for taking away Devin Booker's "competitive fire." Kevin Durant: "So you're saying I only take away his fire? Fan: "Not necessarily take it away, but your demeanor is a calm one, and body language isn't always the best, which I think has rubbed off on Book a little bit, but I get why it would be. You've been here for three years, and nothing has gone as expected." Kevin Durant: "So when Book plays good, do I rub off on him only when he plays bad?" Fan: "I think it's a little bit of both..." The Suns were a disaster last season and couldn't even make the play-in despite having three All-Star caliber players and one of the highest payrolls in the NBA. So when they struggled to even hold the 10th seed, morale hit an all-time low. According to the fan in this encounter, Durant's leadership and body language are what sealed their fate and eliminated any hope of a redemption arc. Advertisement Fan: "Just watch the game against the Raptors, the body language is horrible, and when players see one of the best players of all-time acting like that, it's gonna rub off." Kevin Durant: "My body language is why we lost? You don't know these players, you don't know how they feel," said Durant. "You are assuming and trying to use me as a scapegoat because you don't know why are are losing." The Suns were an utter failure, and while fans and experts try to find someone to blame, Durant believes it was other circumstances that caused their downfall. Fan: "It's pretty obvious why y'all are losing right now, and it's the coach." Advertisement Kevin Durant: "It's easy to always look at me, I'm that big of a star. I get it, but if you don't know the game, just ask me. You don't know basketball well enough to know why a team loses, so you look to blame anyone you can." We don't know when exactly this exchange took place, but it was obviously during the season, before Durant's trade out of Phoenix, and when frustration levels were sky-high. Clearly, the fan was disappointed with the lack of results, and he didn't know what else to say when Durant claimed he knew nothing about the game. Fan: "Okay, so if I don't know basketball and can't say why a team is losing, inform me. I'd love to know why a team with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and a good supporting cast is three games under .500 since I don't know ball." Kevin Durant: "You know what, my body language is the reason, you're right. My bad for questioning a fan. I should be above this, seriously. I don't want any problems, bro, I should've left it alone. I don't wanna ruin your experience, so believe what you want, brother. Enjoy the game tonight and the rest of the season." Advertisement Kevin Durant has no issue taking the fight to his critics, but he usually doesn't resort to arguing in someone's DMs like that. In this case, it seems he couldn't help but speak up after he saw a Suns fan looking for someone to scapegoat for the failed season. In Durant's eyes, the reason for their struggles was not tied to one individual. A mix of different variables came together to create the perfect storm of chaos and dysfunction. Now that it's all said and done, he can think more about this time in Phoenix, but with the way things ended there, he may want to forget that chapter of his career entirely. Kevin Durant Says Michael Jordan Is The GOAT; Reveals He's Got $1 Million Worth Of MJ Shoes
Kevin Durant Says Michael Jordan Is The GOAT; Reveals He's Got $1 Million Worth Of MJ Shoes originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Kevin Durant has recently been forced to defend himself on social media in light of his recent comments about Michael Jordan. While doing so, the Houston Rockets forward has had to reiterate how he believed Jordan was the GOAT while also sharing how he owns $1 million worth of Jordan shoes. Durant tweeted saying: Advertisement "MJ retired 3 times. It's okay to call that out my brother, I got 1 million dollars worth of MJ shoes in my house hahaha. It's okay, he retired 3 times and still the goat. Ima applaud that just like Ima applaud playing 22 years at an ELITE level. I like basketball though, you love individuals more." The forward's tweet was in response to another fan's comment which was addressing the cheeky shot Durant had taken against Jordan while on the "Mind The Game" podcast with LeBron James. Durant's comments from the podcast expressed his thoughts on how greatness could be measured in a player's ability to commit to the sport. In doing so, he took a shot at Jordan by bringing up his decision to retire, while simultaneously praising James' longevity. This drew major backlash from former NBA player Ron Harper was particularly livid with Durant's comment. Considering that Harper was Jordan's teammate, it was evident why he was so aggrieved. Advertisement He responded to Durant's tweet by saying, "I'm gonna start a real show of BULLS**T… If he stop 3 times he won more than you all!!!!!!" Michael Jordan has more individual accolades and titles than LeBron James and Kevin Durant World Durant also responded to a comment on a thread where the image above was used to display the difference in accomplishments between the three players. He said: "The goats, I'm not tryna compete with these brothers but did Jordan retire or not? That's all I said lol." The led the forward to defend the statement he made about Jordan's decision to retire by saying there was nothing wrong with that and adding, "Some people need to reset so they can lock back in. I appreciate Mike prioritizing his well being before anything else." Advertisement It is evident that the 36-year-old superstar has faced a lot of heat on social media since making his appearance on the podcast, creating a convoluted thread of conversations. But this hasn't shaken his confidence one bit. Even in light of the social media attention he has been receiving, Durant remains confident in his place in history, going as far as to rate himself above both, Jordan and James. He joked about this by tweeting: "All of em below me in my personal rankings. I wouldn't have said that a few years ago, we grow and evolve as humans. It's just a kids game right? Why so serious?" As things stand, Durant's legacy has been cemented as one of the greatest players of all time. With two NBA titles and two Finals MVPs to go with them, the forward has displayed the ability to perform at the highest level. Advertisement The last stretch of years hasn't been as kind to the forward, with injury management concerns and other shortcomings derailing any attempts at winning the title. But the 36-year-old now finds himself in an ideal situation with the Houston Rockets. As the veteran leader of one of the hottest teams in the Western Conference, Durant and the Rockets are primed to become title contenders next season. With the likelihood of this being the star's last real chance at winning it all, it will be intriguing to see what he and the team have in store. Michael Jordan Picked Kevin Durant Over LeBron James And Kobe Bryant In Resurfaced Video
Michael Jordan Picked Kevin Durant Over LeBron James And Kobe Bryant In Resurfaced Video originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Kevin Durant recently took a hilarious jab at Michael Jordan while praising LeBron James' longevity. Following his comments, fans were not very pleased on social media and called him out. Durant was hence forced to reveal that he did not mean to disrespect Jordan and holds him in a very high regard. So much that he claimed to have spent $1 million on just Jordan's shoes. Advertisement Following this, a basketball page on Instagram resurfaced an old fan-made video that included Michael Jordan's 2013 interview with Ahmad Rashad, where Jordan indicated what he felt about Kevin Durant. It was also combined with Kobe Bryant's comments on Durant from his appearance on 'The Corp With A-Rod and Big Cat' in 2018. When Jordan was asked to pick between Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, he got flustered and could not decide. "Well, I'd say... Kevin Durant," said Jordan as he hilariously tried to create a way out for himself from that question. But it indicated that Jordan felt Durant belonged in the same discussion as James and Bryant. Following this, the video cuts to Kobe Bryant's comments on Durant after he retired, where he claimed he was the hardest to guard. Advertisement "Kevin Durant, that was the one I had to retire without having been able to figure out what it is that he--- how I can stop him." Then the video cuts to Durant's comments on what he said to Patrick Beverley during their back-and-forth trash-talking in a Warriors game. "Back and forth with Patrick Beverley, I'm Kevin Durant, you know who I am. Y'all know who I am." While the video is originally a fan-made video to highlight Kevin Durant's greatness, some fans were still unhappy with Durant and criticized him in the comments section. Fans also pointed out that in the original interview with Rashad, Jordan in fact corrects himself later and answers the question directly, saying LeBron James is more dominant but Kobe Bryant is a better winner. Here are some other criticisms that Durant got from the fans in the post's comment section. Advertisement "They cut the scenes. MJ was just playing, he was going to take LBJ or Kobe anyway over KD. He can't win nothing without Steph [Curry]." "He was clearly joking because he didn't want to choose between them. Jeez the internet is dumb." "Insecure can never be GOAT." "Unlimited skill but can't win a chip by himself. The definition of good for no reason lol" "People are gonna feed into this knowing he said something different." "The Boston Celtics made this man look pedestrian in the playoffs." To be fair, James and Bryant are better than Durant in almost every statistical measure except scoring. James has accumulated more points in five more years in the league, sure, but Durant averages better numbers for his career. James has averaged 27.0 points per game for 22 seasons so far, while Durant has averaged 27.2 points per game in 17 seasons played in the NBA. Advertisement If Durant plays as long as James has played, then he would potentially surpass his all-time record. However, that would also require him to be consistent for that duration. At age 36, Durant is only four years younger than James but two seasons behind in parallel (James started playing at 18 while Durant was 20 years old). But James is about to play another season in the NBA, at least. Do you think Durant could play until age 43 to beat James' record?
