Jaipur: The Rajasthan education department has announced a comprehensive overhaul of primary education textbooks, aligning them with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 guidelines.
The new curriculum, set to be implemented from July 1, will cover classes 1-5 and introduces a wide range of topics from Indian history to contemporary achievements.
The reformed textbooks will feature stories of national heroes and revolutionaries, including Maharana Pratap, Chhatrapati Shivaji, Subhash Chandra Bose and Vallabhbhai Patel. Students will also learn about modern achievements like the Chandrayaan Mission and cultural events such as the Maha Kumbh.
"These changes reflect our commitment to providing education that is both child-friendly and relevant to current needs," said Shweta Fageria, director of RSCERT.
The curriculum introduces practical subjects like road safety and municipal body functions, while also highlighting environmental conservation through stories like the Khejarli Balidan, which documents the sacrifice of over 360 Bishnois who protected Khejri trees.

Education minister Madan Dilawar emphasised that the new approach moves beyond traditional bookish knowledge. "Students will receive practical and interesting information about Indian culture, history and geography, along with stories of our brave warriors," he said.
In accordance with NEP guidelines, primary education will be conducted in local languages and mother tongues, with specially prepared dictionaries for various dialects.
The education department has established a clear timeline, ensuring that all students up to class 5 will receive their new textbooks by July.
A state-level committee formed in Nov continues to review the entire school curriculum. The initiative represents a significant step toward modernising education while preserving cultural heritage and promoting practical learning in Rajasthan's primary schools.
The new system will introduce revolutionary leaders and democratic concepts from class 3 onwards, integrated across Hindi, English and EVS subjects. By class 5, students will study detailed biographies of historical figures like Veer Durgadas Rathore and Dayanand Saraswati, providing a comprehensive understanding of India's rich historical legacy.

‘Most iconic moment': One year of Trump's assassination attempt at Butler; ‘cascade of preventable failures', says Senate committee

Donald Trump (AP) US President Trump along with first lady Melania trump travelled to East Rutherford to watch a match between Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea at the MetLife stadium. He was attending the FIFA Club World Cup final hosted by the US alongside family members and close advisers. Sunday's match marks the one year anniversary of Trump surviving an assassination attempt at him at Butler, Pennsylvania, while he was campaigning for President. JD Vance, the vice president of US called the event the 'most iconic moment' that he has witnessed in American politics. 'Remains the most iconic moment I've ever seen in American politics. One year ago today,' his post on X read. "Preventable failures" A recently released report by the Senate committee asserts that the event last year was a 'cascade of preventable failures' and called for stronger measures to be taken with the Secret Service in the future. The committee reported that communications were mishandled in the rally attended by Trump an he was also not allotted extra security that day. 'A 20-year-old gunman was able to evade detection by the country's top protective agency for nearly 45 minutes,' said the committee adding that no one has been fired yet, as reported by the Guardian. Supervisors had anticipated that large pieces of farm equipment would be positioned to obstruct the view from the building. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it legal? What had happened Michael Thomas Crooks, 20, had climbed on top of a roof of a nearby building in Butler while Trump was addressing a rally, and opened fire using an AROI5-style rifle, on July 13 2024. A bullet had grazed Trump's ear and left him wounded while Corey Comperatore, a person attending the rally was killed. The report released by the committee does not offer any new information on the motives of Crooks but does offer an insight on the incoherent communication between the Secret service and the local law enforcement who are responsible for securing events such as this. An investigation reiterated that there was a 'chaotic mixture' phone, mails, radio, text messages used to communicate on that day, as reported by Los Angeles Times. 'I can't understand how [so] many errors were made on that site that day,' said Anthony Cangelosi, a former Secret Service agent. 'If they agreed to leave that roof unoccupied, I can't ... understand it for the life of me,' he said. A year later Secret Service has suspended six agents but have stressed that they are not going to fire anyone and focus on the 'root cause' and 'fix deficiencies.' "We aren't going to fire our way out of this. We're going to focus on the root cause and fix the deficiencies that put us in that situation," said Secret Service deputy director Matt Quinn to CBS news. 'Since President Trump appointed me as director of the United States Secret Service, I have kept my experience on July 13 top of mind, and the agency has taken many steps to ensure such an event can never be repeated in the future,' said Sean Curran who was one of the agents standing near Trump as he was escorted off the stage after the shooting. Curran is now in charge of leading the Secret Service. The image of Trump defiantly raising his fist moments after the attack became a powerful political symbol, contributing to Joe Biden's exit from the race and rapidly intensifying support for Trump's presidency, reports The Guardian. A painting depicting the scene now hangs prominently in the foyer of the White House State Floor, near the staircase leading to the president's residence, as reported by AP.

Citizens Flood Gadkari's Janata Darbar with Drainage, Safety, and Infra Complaints

1 2 3 Nagpur: Overflowing drains, waterlogged roads, and civic neglect dominated the complaints brought by citizens to Union minister Nitin Gadkari during his Janata Darbar on Sunday. With the city reeling under monsoon-related issues, residents from across Nagpur raised concerns about drainage failures, poor sanitation, unsafe streets, and pending infrastructure projects. Ravindra Borkar, principal of a private school on Nari Road, appeared with 12 staff members to highlight the condition of a damaged sewer line running alongside the school premises. The broken line has caused gutter water to flood the school's playground daily, making it unusable. "Students have fallen sick repeatedly, and parents are pulling their children out," Borkar said, stressing that the issue has existed for years without any corrective action. He urged Gadkari to direct officials to reconstruct the line at the earliest to restore safety and sanitation. In Old Dnyaneshwari Nagar near Manewada Road, Vijay Phule pointed out a larger-than-road nullah adjacent to residential areas. "Even animals fall in. When it rains, water flows into our homes," he said. Phule claimed residents had been running from one municipal department to another for a year with no result. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Providers are furious: Internet access without a subscription! Jaiprakash Nagar senior citizen Sudha Kesarwani, 72, urged the administration to adopt an 'Indore-like' cleanliness model. She highlighted garbage around Sonegaon Lake, which is removed only weekly, and complained about waste dumping spots near the water body. Kesarwani also raised safety concerns, citing non-functional street lights and missing CCTV cameras. "We've complained several times, but nothing changes," she said. Residents from Shri Nagar, including Ved Patrikar, spoke of basic civic neglect. He said drain cleaning, garbage collection, and street sweeping have been irregular for weeks. "Mosquitoes are everywhere, and complaints to the NMC go unanswered," Patrikar said. Indiramata Nagar residents, whose homes are located near the Pili river, reported rainwater flooding their houses. They demanded financial aid under housing schemes to build pucca houses and asked for improved drainage systems to prevent recurrence. From Hinganghat, Waim Misar Khan and a group of seven artisans sought the regularisation of their land in Shashtri Ward. The community, which has been living there for over three decades, has no access to civic amenities due to lack of registration with the Nagar Parishad. Gadkari assured all complainants that their issues would be forwarded to the concerned departments for urgent action.

Land registration freeze continues over ‘tampered' records in Andhra Pradesh

Vijayawada: The state govt is virtually left clueless to resolve the contentious free-hold lands issue. The registration of about 20 lakh acres of assigned lands has been put on hold on the suspicion of tampering of records. Although, the govt conducted village level revenue meetings to screen the land records, it could not resolve the free-hold lands issue in the last one year. Several lakhs of farmers have been struggling to sell their lands as the govt is delaying the decision to lift the ban on registration of the lands entered into the prohibitory lands register. The state govt has even appointed a Group of Ministers (GoM) to study the issue after the senior officials failed to come up with a solution. Surprisingly, the GoM too could not ready the roadmap to unlock the controversy even after holding several meetings. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo "We are hopeful of finding a solution by October. It is taking time as the govt wanted to prevent irregularities in transfer of assigned lands to the influential people. We wanted to protect the rights of the genuine landlords as well as the govt property," said revenue minister Anagani Satya Prasad. A large number of farmers and eligible assignees, thought that the govt will free up the freeze orders at least to the extent which were not on the suspicion list. Giving a shocker to the original assignees, the govt has extended the ban by another three months in the guise of further verification of records. "The govt looks keen to hand over the lands of the poor to landlords and corporates with such delay tactics. We demand that an all-party meeting be held immediately to formulate a comprehensive policy on the land issue," CPM state secretary V Srinivasa Rao. He explained that successive govts have stated that approximately 32 lakh acres of surplus land were distributed to the poor since 1970. However, previous govt declared that around 15 lakh acres were encroached upon by influential persons. "Before elections, Naidu had promised to take the assigned lands from the ineligible people back and given to genuine beneficiaries. Not even an acre was distributed besides resolution of the existing 22-A controversy," said Srinivasa Rao.
