'It was definitely a ride of emotions, up and down,' said May, sitting in the dugout on Saturday. 'Sad leaving [LA] because I've been there my whole career, but very, very excited to be joining this organization.'
May knew his days as a starter with the Dodgers were likely coming to an end this season with a few starters expected to come off the injured list.
'I was kind of pushed out,' he said. 'We've got quite a few guys there in that organization. I couldn't be more excited and thrilled to be here and be a part of it.'

Kyle Schwarber's 2-run shot, grand slam powers Phillies to 13-3 rout of Orioles

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Kyle Schwarber homered twice, including a grand slam in Philadelphia's eight-run sixth inning, and the Phillies pounded the Baltimore Orioles 13-3 win on Monday night. Schwarber finished with six RBIs, running his major league-leading total to 94 on the season. Schwarber's first homer of the game was a two-run shot deep into the second deck that tied it at 3 in the third. He heard 'MVP! MVP!' chants when he came to the plate in the sixth. Schwarber, the All-Star Game MVP, launched his NL-best 40th of the season into the right-center seats off Yaramil Hiraldo for a grand slam that sent the crowd of 41,099 into a frenzy. Harrison Bader homered for the first time since he was acquired by the Phillies at the trade deadline, a tiebreaking three-run shot earlier in the sixth. The Phillies added closer Jhoan Duran and Bader in trades on consecutive days with Minnesota. With his 102.5 mph fastball and electric entrance, Duran was an instant fan favorite in Philly. Bader made his case with a homer off Corbin Martin. Bryce Harper hit a solo shot for the contending Phillies, his 17th. Edmundo Sosa and Weston Wilson hit back-to-back homers in the eighth for a 13-3 lead. Phillies starter Jesús Luzardo (10-5) allowed a two-run homer to Tyler O'Neill and a solo shot to Jordan Westburg over six innings. Key stat Schwarber has reached 40 homers in three of his four seasons with the Phillies. He hit 38 last season. Up next The Orioles send RHP Dean Kremer (8-7, 4.27 ERA) to the mound on Tuesday night against Phillies RHP Taijuan Walker (3-5, 3.82 ERA). ___

Ime Udoka, Fred VanVleet traveled to Turkey to work with Rockets star Alperen Sengun

With Alperen Sengun spending more time than usual in Turkey in the 2025 offseason, the Rockets sent even more big names there to work with him. All-Star center Alperen Sengun spends at least a portion of each NBA offseason in his native Turkey. He typically still works out and does basketball activities in the gym during that time, but it's an opportunity for the 23-year-old to be surrounded by family and friends from his homeland for at least a few weeks. In the 2025 offseason, however, the Rockets star is spending a bit more time at home due to his inclusion on Turkey's FIBA EuroBasket 2025 squad (which opens play later this month). So, rather than waiting for Sengun to eventually return to his NBA home, Houston is sending its leadership to him. As shown in photos posted on the team's official social media accounts, head coach Ime Udoka and starting point guard Fred VanVleet each recently spent time with Sengun in a Turkish gym. It's nothing too out of the ordinary. In past offseasons, it was typically an assistant coach from the Rockets that went to visit Sengun in Turkey. But with expectations higher than ever after the Kevin Durant trade and Sengun's timeline for returning to the United States delayed due to the EuroBasket competition, the Rockets sent even bigger names to Turkey in 2025. The hope is that it allows Sengun, VanVleet, and the rest of their teammates on the 2025-26 Rockets to hit the ground running when training camps open around October 1. In 2024-25, Sengun averaged 19.1 points and a career-high 10.3 rebounds in earning his first career All-Star honors. Houston went 52-30 and finished at No. 2 in the Western Conference standings, and Sengun led the Rockets in rebounding while finishing second in scoring and assists on a per-game basis. Red Sox completing trade with Dodgers for Dustin May

The post Red Sox completing trade with Dodgers for Dustin May appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Boston Red Sox made a last-minute push before the MLB trade deadline, acquiring right-handed pitcher Dustin May from the Los Angeles Dodgers. The May trade gives the Red Sox a much-needed arm as they continue fighting for a postseason spot with a rotation that has battled inconsistency. ESPN's Jeff Passan was the first to report the move, announcing the deal on X, formerly known as Twitter. 'The Boston Red Sox are acquiring right-hander Dustin May from the Los Angeles Dodgers, sources tell ESPN.' May, 27, has shown flashes of elite potential throughout his career, but injuries have kept him from maintaining consistent production. In 2025, he's posted a 6-7 record with a 4.85 ERA and 97 strikeouts across 114 innings. He missed time in previous seasons due to two major elbow surgeries but has remained healthy this year, even if the results haven't always followed. Boston faced him just five days before the trade at Fenway Park, scoring four runs on five hits in a 4-3 Dodgers loss. That outing gave the front office a fresh look and confirmed what they saw as upside worth investing in. At the time of the deal, the Red Sox hold a 59-51 record, sitting in the second American League Wild Card standings. Even after acquiring Steven Matz earlier in the week, the Red Sox rotation needed another arm. With May now joining Garrett Crochet, Nick Pivetta, Brayan Bello, and Lucas Giolito, the Red Sox rotation adds critical depth ahead of the season's final stretch. The group gives Boston a mix of upside and experience as they push for a postseason spot in a crowded American League race. In return, the Dodgers received outfield prospects James Tibbs III, ranked fifth in Boston's system, and Zach Ehrhard, ranked twenty-seventh. The deal reflects the strength of Dodgers pitching depth, allowing them to move a controllable arm while adding to their long-term roster. May, a third-round pick in the 2016 MLB Draft, holds a 3.71 career ERA and was part of the Dodgers' 2020 World Series run. Despite setbacks, his movement-heavy arsenal still draws attention, and Boston is betting on that upside paying off. While some fans had hoped for a splashier name, the May trade could turn out to be one of the more underrated moves of the MLB trade deadline.
