Disney 'pays $5,750,000 to star actress over Weinstein sexual assault claims'
The company, which owned Weinstein's company Miramax, paid the Legends of the Fall actor, 60, in an out-of-court settlement per court documents.
She sued Disney and Miramax as well as her former agents at Creative Artists Agency (CAA), accusing Disney of 'negligent supervision and retention' of Weinstein.
Ormond has also accused CAA of failing to protect her from abuse, with them denying the claims.
In the suit, according to the Daily Mail, she claims that she met Weinstein in New York in 1995 for dinner and to discuss plans to make a film about Beryl Markham, which never came to be made.
Ormond alleges that after the meeting, set up by CAA, Weinstein insisted on continuing the discussions at her apartment in Manhattan.
She claims that she was so 'inebriated' at the apartment that she could not put her keys in the door, and that Weinstein 'stripped her naked' and climbed on top of her.
The court documents continue to say that Weinstein forced her to give him a massage, masturbated, and forced Ormond to 'perform oral sex on him.'
In the previous year, Ormond claims that Weinstein offered to be a 'sperm donor' for her and described his behaviour as 'relentless sexual harassment.'
Ormond said the assault was 'catastrophic both personally and professionally' due to Weinstein's influence in the world of film.
The court documents contain excerpts from a memoir that Ormond began writing in 2017, in which she says: 'I vaguely remember in London before ever getting to New York, him emerging in a dressing gown… I think he barked at staff who had then left… I think I fairly flatly turned down or laughed off an invite to watch him shower.'
After the alleged assault, she wrote that she felt she had 'done something really stupid with Harvey' and that she complained to her agents at CAA.
Disney and its subsidiary Miramax settled with Ormond on March 31, paying her $5.75m, but said the payment is not an admission of wrongdoing.
Ormond's legal battle with CAA continues, with boss Bryan Lourd denying her accusations and knowing that Weinstein had ever sexually assaulted anybody.
CAA has said the suit is 'baseless' and that an internal review found nothing to support Ormond's claims.
It comes after a judge declared a mistrial on the third-degree rape count in Harvey Weinstein's ongoing sexual assault trial, after drama with the jury.
The disgraced film mogul was initially convicted of a criminal sexual act in the first degree and rape in the third degree in February 2020.
However, his 23-year sentence was overturned last year, sparking a three-week retrial in New York.

After a second round of hearings, the 73-year-old was convicted of sexually assaulting Miriam Haley in June and acquitted of a second charge stemming from sexual assault accusations made by Kaja Sokola.
The jury struggled to reach a unanimous verdict on a third count involving Jessica Mann and, after further deliberations failed, Judge Curtis Farber declared a mistrial. More Trending
Prosecutors are now said to be planning to retry Weinstein on the rape charge, stemming from Mann's accusations.
Weinstein has been at the centre of rape or sexual misconduct allegations from more than 100 people, with some claims dating back to the 1970s.
The allegations sparked the Me Too movement, which highlighted sexual violence in the film industry, as well as worldwide.
Metro has contracted representatives for Julia Ormond, Harvey Weinstein, Disney, and Miramax for comment .

Inside Lindsay Lohan's transformation from wild child to married mum as she reveals what she would do differently
SHE is the Hollywood wild thing who notched up five trips to rehab, 20 court appearances and one 84-minute jail stretch. Now former Disney child star Lindsay Lohan, 39, insists that if she could turn back the clock she would have done things differently. 4 4 4 She said: 'I was always such a 'yes' person to my agents and everyone that no one ever really took the time to ask me, 'Do you wanna chill for a second?' 'And if I knew then what I know now, I'd definitely have used the word 'no' a lot more.' Over a six-year period, she was arrested a number of times for drink and drug offences. But the star's life nowadays could not be more different from her hellraising years in Hollywood. She turned teetotal and removed herself from bad influences in 2014 by moving to Dubai, where she still lives. In 2022 she married Kuwaiti financier Bader Shammas, 38, and the following year gave birth to their son Luai. Showbiz feuds Lindsay now believes her younger self would be 'very proud of the mother and wife that I am today' and added: 'I love it so much. I'm obsessed with my kid. 'The other day I said, 'Luai, don't do that — not a good idea', and now he goes, 'Luai, don't do that . . . ' He mocks me. 'If my husband's like, 'No, Luai', then he listens. But for me, it's like he laughs at me. But I'm fine with it. I love every second.' Despite being an 'It Girl' of the Noughties, starring in 2004 high school comedy Mean Girls at the age of 18, she jokes she is now just an embarrassing mum who struggles to keep up with Gen Z slang. Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis delight fans as they finally reunite for epic Freakier Friday trailer Lindsay said: 'I don't know any cool new words except for 'rizz' [meaning charisma]. 'But I would probably say it in the wrong context, like, 'Yeah. That was a rizz day'.' Stormy love life Lindsay first found the limelight aged just three, in fashion ads for Calvin Klein Kids and Abercrombie Kids. After a stint in US soap Another World aged ten, she landed her big break two years later in Disney film The Parent Trap. Roles in teen comedy films followed — Disney hit Freaky Friday in 2003, alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, then Mean Girls — as she earned three MTV Movie and four Teen Choice Awards. 4 By now she seemed unstoppable — and in 2004 a dabble in music saw her single Rumors reach No6 in the UK. But in her early twenties, her private life and partying became more notable than her acting. She became a fixture in LA's nightclubs and made headlines for all the wrong reasons, including showbiz feuds and a stormy love life. She had failed flings with US rapper Aaron Carter, English singer-songwriter Samantha Ronson and Brit rugby hunk Danny Cipriani. In 2007 she was sent to rehab after a conviction for driving under the influence and possession of cocaine. There were multiple further arrests over the next four years for violation of probation orders and other offences — plus several stints in rehab. But then, in a bid to finally clean up her act for good, Lindsay left behind her old haunts to move to the Middle East. She said: 'I get the privacy, I get the peace, the space. I don't have to worry — I feel safe.' She has also rebuilt her career with a series of films for Netflix including two festive hits — 2022 romance Falling For Christmas, and last year's Our Little Secret and comedy Irish Wish. Jamie and I have remained in close contact over the past two decades. She's a very important person in my life. Lindsay Lohan Last year she also had a cameo in a remake of Mean Girls, and she has been welcomed back to Disney, reprising her role opposite Jamie Lee Curtis in Freakier Friday, a sequel to Freaky Friday that hits UK cinemas next week. Lindsay said: 'Jamie and I have remained in close contact over the past two decades. She's a very important person in my life. 'Working with her again felt like it was yesterday.' But despite her career revival, she puts her son first when she is working. She said: 'Time manage-ment is a big part of it, like the timing of when they're going to shoot the film and how it's going to work out for my son. 'That's a big deal because he comes first in my life.' She also hopes to revive her music career — and hints at a new release soon. Lindsay said: 'I love making music, it's just the time has to be right. I have to have a certain amount of downtime to discover what story I want to tell through my music again.' But unlike her old self she is in no hurry to impress. She said: 'There's no need to rush. Because my life was so busy then, I never took the time to pause.'

Roger Dalty is 'nervous about making it to the end of The Who's final tour'
For over half a century, The Who have been a dominating force in rock. But now, as their final tour winds toward its close, Daltrey admits he's not sure he'll make it to the end. 'I'm going to be 82 next year,' he told The Times. 'Fortunately, my voice is still as good as ever. I'm still singing in the same keys and it's still bloody loud, but I can't tell you if it will still be there in October. There's a big part of me that's going: I just hope I make it through.' That candid uncertainty, delivered without self-pity, is typical of Daltrey. But it also reflects the toll that time and illness have taken. Nine years ago, he contracted meningitis, an infection that left lingering damage. 'It's buggered up my internal thermometer, so every time I start singing in any climate over 75 degrees I'm wringing with sweat, which drains my body salts. The potential to get really ill is there,' he explains. 'And, I have to be honest, I'm nervous about making it to the end of the tour.' Daltrey's relationship with physical punishment has deep roots. He believes his hearing was compromised long before The Who's amps reached legendary decibel levels – back when he worked at a sheet metal factory in Acton at age 16. Today, the damage is creeping in other directions. At the Teenage Cancer Trust concert in March, he told the crowd not only was he going deaf, but also losing his sight. He even joked that if he lost his voice too, he'd 'go the full Tommy .' When asked about his vision now, he answers simply: 'Not good.' He wears dark glasses due to incurable macular degeneration and roars with laughter when asked if he uses an Autocue on stage. 'There's no point. Can't f***ing see it!' And yet, there's no trace of resignation. the drive to deliver and to do right by the audience is undiminished. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'I want to give the songs the same amount of passion as I did the first time round,' Daltrey says. More Trending 'But it's not easy when you're dealing with a partner who can be ambivalent about it.' The partner in question, Pete Townshend, has been openly apathetic about touring in recent years, describing it as more chore than thrill: 'So he says until he's out there — and he loves the money,' Daltrey chuckles. 'But look at those early Who concerts. Every night was a war. That's how we got the music across. We're not going to turn into f***ing Abba overnight, are we?' Daltrey still sees The Who's legacy as something earned with sweat and tears, night after night, in front of earsplitting stacks and roaring crowds. Got a story? Man fights passenger after she refused to give up seat for him and his wife
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video A fight erupted in an airport after a passenger slapped a woman for refusing to get up to to allow him to sit next to his wife. Héctor Santacruz asked Claudia Segura vacate her seat in a crowded departure lounge at Bogotá's El Dorado International Airport in Colombia, to allow him to sit with his wife Karen. The businessman became irate after Segura ignored his demands, striking her in the face and swiping her phone out of her hands and knocking an earring to the floor. Segura, a government contractor, said she had sat in the only available seat in the lounge. She recalled being confronted by Santacruz who demanded 'get up or I'll get you up', while encouraging nearby passengers to film the ensuing row. Other passengers sat near Gate 9 intervened as the argument escalated out of control. Segura was taken to an urgent care centre following the brawl, where she received treatment, Daily Mail reported. 'I am affected and very afraid', she reflected afterwards. Santacruz's wife's design business, Khala, received a barrage of criticism after video footage circulated of the fight in the terminal. The clip showed Segura lying on the floor as she was attended to by airport workers. Condemning her husband's actions, Karen said his behaviour 'went against what we want'. More Trending 'The person shown physically assaulting a woman is my husband. And you don't know how much it hurts me to say this out loud,' she said. 'And it really hurts me as a woman, as a mother, as the founder of Khala, because all of this goes against what we want, what we've been working on for so many years.' She added: 'As the old saying goes, let he who is without sin cast the first stone. This doesn't mean it's right, because it isn't. 'No, I don't condone it, I don't approve of it, and I won't remain silent. I reject it from the bottom of my heart because I believe in dignity, in boundaries, and in respect.'
