Teacher killed in crash in Maran while on the way home to Temerloh
In the 9.30am accident, the Perodua Myvi driven by Nurfarah Izyan Ismail, 28, from Temerloh, collided with a mobile drilling truck.
"Nurfarah was on her way home to Sungai Gau, Temerloh, from SMA Al-Basriah in Jerantut," Maran police chief Superintendent Wong Kim Wai said.
"She is believed to have lost control of her vehicle and veered into the opposite lane before crashing into an oncoming lorry.
"The 51-year-old lorry driver from Bandar Jengka has a fractured left thigh.
"Two of his assistants, who were in the front passenger seat, suffered minor injuries.
"A fourth assistant, who was seated in the rear section of the lorry, escaped unhurt," he said today.
Wong said the lorry driver and the two injured assistants, aged 25 and 45, were receiving treatment at Jengka Hospital.
He said the case is being investigated for reckless or dangerous driving.

Myvi stolen in Muadzam Shah break-in recovered in a plantation
ROMPIN: A Perodua Myvi belonging to a teacher, which was reported stolen outside her home in Prima Gadak, Muadzam Shah on July 8, was recovered yesterday in an oil palm plantation in Keratong near here. The suspect is believed to have abandoned the vehicle in the plantation, located about 15km from the victim's house. Rompin police chief Superintendent Sharif Shai Sharif Mondoi said policemen from the Muadzam Shah police station received information from the public while conducting patrol rounds at about 8.30pm. "Upon inspecting the Myvi, officers confirmed it was the same vehicle reported stolen last week. A gold-coloured bracelet, which had been listed as missing during the break-in, was found in the car. "The police Forensics Unit was unable to recover any fingerprints. We believe the suspect had tampered with the evidence," he said in a statement today. Sharif Shai said police suspect the perpetrator fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle, taking the remaining valuables with them. In the July 8 incident, the suspect reportedly broke into the 33-year-old teacher's home while she was asleep with her two children. The intruder made off with a gold ring, a bracelet, RM250 in cash, a mobile phone and other valuables before escaping in the victim's Myvi.

Reckless driver who challenged woman to fight arrested
TAWAU: A 32-year-old man was arrested after he drove recklessly, made an obscene gesture and challenged a woman to a fight in a road rage incident. The Wednesday afternoon incident on Jalan Apas happened after the victim was forced to brake to avoid being hit by a Perodua Myvi that darted out of a junction. Tawau police chief Assistant Commissioner Jasmin Hussin said the incident escalated when the suspect got out of his vehicle, made an obscene gesture towards the victim, hurled verbal abuse and dared her to fight. "Frightened and distressed by the suspect's aggressive actions, the victim lodged a police report yesterday," he said in a statement. Following the report, a team from the Tawau police headquarters' Criminal Investigation Division tracked down the suspect and arrested him at 2.50pm. The man has a criminal record for six offences, including those under the Dangerous Drugs Act. He is now being investigated under Section 279 of the Penal Code for rash or negligent driving, punishable by imprisonment of up to six months and a maximum fine of RM2,000 or both.
