Hoërskool Waterkloof principal moved to district office after interference complaint
The Gauteng department of education on Thursday precautionarily transferred the principal of Hoërskool Waterkloof, Chris Denysschen, following complaints of alleged interference with witnesses at the school.
Allegations of improper conduct were levelled against Denysschen last year and the department refused to disclose full details due to the sensitivity of the matter and the fact that the disciplinary hearing was still pending.
He was initially placed on precautionary transfer to the district office in September last year, but this was lifted on December 12, and he returned to school.
On Thursday, the department said the principal will from Friday report to the Tshwane South district office.
'He will remain there until the conclusion of the disciplinary proceedings, which are being managed independently by the Education Labour Relations Council, the statutory body responsible for overseeing such hearings,' Gauteng education department spokesperson Steve Mabona said.

Man's decomposing body discovered on roof of Hazyview police station
A man's decomposing body was found last week concealed in the roof of one of the buildings at the Hazyview police station in Mpumalanga. According to the police, the body was removed on Thursday. The discovery was made after an awful smell in and around the building block at the station. Police spokesperson Brig Donald Mdhluli said suspicions were that it was possibly a dead animal causing the unbearable smell. 'A search was then conducted, but nothing could be found at that time.' 'Preliminary investigation suggests that the man could have been electrocuted. The million-dollar question is how he got onto the roof. Some tools were found next to his body. Special police operation launched to fight crime in Nelson Mandela Bay
A joint special crime prevention operation has been launched in Nelson Mandela Bay to tackle serious and violent crimes such as murder, hijackings and armed robberies. Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge said Operation Shanella II would also aim to clamp down on illegal firearms, stolen goods, drugs and counterfeit goods. Operation Shanella II comprises members of the SA Police Service, including public order police, the tactical response team, visible policing, the anti-gang unit, the flying squad, district operational command centre, and the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro Police and the traffic department. The district commissioner for Nelson Mandela Bay, Major-General Vuyisile Ncata, addressed the members during a parade on Friday afternoon, urging them to walk the extra mile to ensure safety in the Bay community. He further tasked them members to prevent and combat anything which might threaten the safety and security of the community, and especially to search and arrestthose in possession of illegal firearms. 'We are placing more boots on the ground, especially during weekends and at month end, as these times have shown more criminal activities taking place in Nelson Mandela Bay,' Ncata said. 'The abuse of alcohol and drugs is a major contributor in most of our problematic crimes, and during month-end periods we see this abuse rise dramatically. 'By flooding the streets of Nelson Mandela Bay with police members we are making sure to be visible and to be a deterrent to criminal activities.' The Herald

Man arrested for allegedly hacking his 87-year-old mother to death
A 40-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged murder of his 87-year-old mother in Sebora Village, Polokwane, after her dismembered body parts were discovered in a plastic bucket in her home. The woman's son was arrested after he was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the gruesome find. Police are still investigating the motive behind the murder. Police spokesperson Capt Marius McCarthy said at about 3pm on Saturday afternoon, police responded to a complaint of a missing person from a neighbour who was worried that the 87-year-old had not been seen for more than two days. 'The police immediately went to the home of the 87-year-old woman. Upon investigation, they were met by a very disturbing scene, where they discovered the woman's dismembered body parts placed inside the plastic buckets,' McCarthy said. McCarthy said several items allegedly used in the commission of the crime were also found at the scene. Limpopo police commissioner Lt-Gen Thembi Hadebe strongly condemned the heinous incident. 'The scourge of gender-based violence has reached a crisis point. This pandemic needs all sectors of society to join hands with the police and confront this demon that continues to terrorise communities. Enough is enough,' said Hadebe. The 40-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Seshego magistrate's court on Monday, facing a charge of murder. TimesLIVE
