Seven months ago, this was all just a dream for Akhonamathemba Zwane.
But he chased his ambitious goals anyway. Now, Sweet Guluva is thriving.
After winning the R2 million cash prize from Big Brother Mzansi, Sweet Guluva told Drum that he'd be seizing every opportunity that the entertainment industry has to offer him, with his eyes fixated on acting.
And that's exactly what he's done.
At just 23 years old, he now travels the country performing his song, "Sweet Guluva," with DJ Zinhle, which is titled after him.

His biggest performance yet was recently at the Durban July Afrotainment marquee, which he attended alongside his girlfriend, Ashley Ogle, whom he met in the Big Brother house.
'It's beautiful to see that we agreed to give our love a chance,' he says proudly.
Catching up with Drum after a photoshoot linked to a big announcement he'll be making on 18 August, he excitedly says, 'What's coming next is what I've always wanted to do from the very beginning of my journey. It makes me happy to be finally making music, and what's coming up'.
Hailing from the same province, DJ Zinhle and Sweet Guluva found themselves to have a lot in common, including knowing Sweet Guluva's mother, Bongiwe Zwane, whom DJ Zinhle admitted to having attended the same school with on social media.
It wasn't long after this that the two recorded their song together with Nokwazi and Ndloh, which dropped on June 6.

'DJ Zinhle already had an idea of how to bring this song to life, so by the time I got to the studio, there was already a beat ready for me. She wanted it to be my introduction to music because she had already heard of my wish to get into music.'
'None of this scares me, I'm just happy that my dreams are coming true.'
He adds that seeing it all come together like a well-put puzzle has kept him focused, despite the money and fame.
Through it all, he still seeks counsel from his mother on how to stay grounded and move in the industry.
'For as long as God has given me the chance to make music, I will make music with whoever comes with a beat I like and we can collaborate well on.'

Contrary to popular belief, as a staunch Zulu speaker, he rejects the idea of hopping onto maskandi and chuckles as he shares with Drum that his preferences are amapiano, afro-tech, and house.
Sweet Guluva has since abandoned his studies at the Cape Peninsula of Technology (CPUT), where he was doing his third year and has permanently moved to Johannesburg in pursuit of the gold in the city.

Paramount Global says Skydance merger should close in two weeks

(Reuters) -Paramount Global said on Friday it expects to complete its merger with Skydance Media by August 7, following government approval for the $8.4 billion deal. Skydance CEO David Ellison is prepared to assume the helm at Paramount, home to the venerable Paramount Pictures, the CBS broadcast network, and a collection of cable television channels. The new chief executive already is confronted with questions from investors about the future of the Paramount+ streaming service, plans for Paramount's declining television assets, and forecasts for spending on content -- including professional sports. "Now that the long, drawn-out sale process is finally nearing its end, Skydance leadership is poised to take control," wrote MoffettNathanson media analyst Robert Fishman. "With that, the real work begins -- rebuilding Paramount, addressing the critical strategic questions ahead, and charting a path toward a more sustainable and competitive future." Announced more than a year ago, the merger will unite Paramount's prized film and TV library including classics such as "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "Breakfast at Tiffany's," with films it produced with Skydance, including "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning." Ellison was not available for comment. He has previously said he plans to expand Paramount's technological capabilities, rebuild the Paramount+ platform and grow the streaming business, and reorganize the business to prioritize cash flow. A year ago, he said the team had identified $2 billion in cost savings. The Federal Communications Commission cleared the deal on Thursday, just weeks after Paramount settled a lawsuit filed by U.S. President Donald Trump over CBS' editing of a "60 Minutes" interview with his Democratic opponent, former Vice President Kamala Harris. The $16-million settlement drew criticism that Paramount had effectively bought regulatory approval, with the Democratic dissenter in the FCC's 2-1 vote calling it a "cowardly capitulation" to the Trump administration. The agency has repeatedly said its review was independent of the lawsuit.

Netflix's push into tie-in games now includes two weird Happy Gilmore titles

Netflix seems to have finally settled on something resembling a strategy for its gaming efforts, and one of the key pillars is games tied to its shows and movies. That's how we got the likes of Squid Game: Unleashed and Black Mirror's Thronglets. Now, as Happy Gilmore 2 hits the streaming service, it's accompanied by a pair of games that show just how promotional Netflix can be. The first game is actually pretty fun, though it's not really a whole game. It's called Happy Gilmore: Golf Mayhem '98 Demo, and it's exactly what it sounds like: a fictional long-lost demo of a golf game starring Happy that exists in the film's universe. It plays and looks like an old-school golf game at first. The twist is that you run over to your ball in between each swing, and there are things to do along the way, like collectibles to pick up or golf kart combat tournaments to partake in. It's all rendered with a very '90s layer of polygonal polish and ends in a fistfight with Bob Barker that plays like a simplified Street Fighter. It's pretty short, with only one available hole to play, but the 'demo' really nails the Happy Gilmore tone. It's available on the web and select TVs as part of a beta at Netflix. (Here are some details on how and where you can play these games.) The other game leans much more toward the advertisement end of the spectrum. It's called The Happy Gilmore 2 Tournament, and it's basically a little Flash-style golf game with three holes that, when you beat it, unlocks… a trailer for Happy Gilmore 2. The most interesting thing about the game is where you play it: it's available through Spotify's mobile app. Netflix's plan for games hasn't always been clear. But earlier this year, Alain Tascan, the streamer's president of games, told me that it was going to focus on a handful specific pillars going forward. The idea was to 'readjust and focus on fewer areas with more intention,' like multiplayer games and kid-friendly experiences, rather than just trying everything to see what works. Another one of those focus areas was games based on Netflix's movie and TV properties, which is where the Happy Gilmore experiences come in. These tie-in games are increasingly becoming straight-up promotional vehicles. When the third and final season of Squid Game hit Netflix, for instance, Squid Game: Unleashed got a big update that included characters and other elements from the new season. It's not unlike Superman appearing in Fortnite just as his movie hits theaters — or Roblox creators making their own Stranger Things games — except, in this case, Netflix manages the whole process and tailors the games and updates to the related property. Instead of making a regular Black Mirror game, for instance, Netflix turned a fictional game from a recent episode into something you could actually play. Often, these experiences are much smaller than what a typical licensed game would be, sort of like a digital version of a McDonald's Happy Meal toy. We're likely to see more of these. Happy Gilmore 2 may not have the same global appeal as Squid Game, but it is a movie that people have been waiting for since 1996, and it's arguably Netflix's biggest film release of the summer, which makes it a good candidate for trying something different. There are plenty of opportunities on the way, from the end of Stranger Things to boxing matches and other live events, so it's unlikely the experimental tie-ins are done — though they might not be as weird as a fist fight with Bob Barker.
