Bassam Al-Bassam, general manager of publishing at the Saudi Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, said the commission organized various initiatives to enhance the publishing and translation industry in the Kingdom and showcase the Saudi cultural landscape.
The Saudi pavilion experienced significant engagement from publishers and international literary agencies, Al-Bassam added.
By participating in international book fairs, the Kingdom aims to enhance its cultural presence on a global scale and create new opportunities to promote Saudi culture both regionally and internationally.

Visitors can enjoy a rich cultural and culinary experience, as every pavilion will include a restaurant offering cuisine representative of that country. The city will revolve around an artificial lake, enhancing its aesthetic and tourism appeal. Key attractions include a floating market built on the lake and an open-air theatre with a seating capacity of 7,000, expandable to 10,000 for major events. Additionally, the project will feature a fully equipped entertainment zone covering over 17,000 sq m. Families will enjoy a large open-air skating plaza, several international restaurants, and a variety of family-friendly activities, making it a major entertainment destination in the region. Investment and Development Global City Dammam will span more than 600,000 sq m, divided between land and water areas, with the initial investment for the first phase will be SAR200 million, with the total project value expected to reach SAR650 million upon completion of all phases. Studies conducted by the municipality in collaboration with the investor support these projections. Saudi Arabia welcomes 1.2 million Umrah pilgrims
JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah reported that more than 1.2 million pilgrims have arrived in the Kingdom to perform Umrah since the season launched. The faithful have traveled from 109 countries worldwide, reflecting surging international interest and the Kingdom's enhanced service capabilities for religious visitors. Ministry data shows a significant 30 percent jump in Umrah visa holders entering Saudi Arabia this year compared to the same period last year. Visa issuances also climbed 27 percent, while more than 4,200 partnership agreements were executed between domestic Umrah service providers and international agents, bolstering the Kingdom's capacity to accommodate the influx of pilgrims. The Umrah season was launched with digital visa processing handled through the government's Nusuk platform. The scheme represents the latest advancement in Saudi Arabia's efforts to streamline religious tourism as part of Vision 2030, the Kingdom's comprehensive modernization blueprint. Pilgrims have been able to secure Umrah permits directly through the Nusuk mobile application, which functions as a centralized digital gateway for pilgrim services. 140,000+ flights handled during Hajj 1446
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Saudi Arabia recorded over 140,000 domestic and international flights during the Hajj 1446 season, reflecting an 8% increase from last year. From 1 Dhul Qa'dah to 8 Dhul Hijjah, inbound flights totaled 74,902, a 15% jump year-on-year. Outbound traffic between 23 Dhul Hijjah and 15 Muharram reached 66,072 flights, growing by 2%. A new single-day record was set on 2 Dhul Hijjah, with 2,338 flights—up 4% from last year. The Saudi Air Navigation Services Company (SANS) provided services to 213 airlines, underscoring the scale of international partnerships and the diversity of routes crossing Saudi airspace during the season. This operational peak was supported by a network of advanced air navigation systems, staffed around the clock by highly trained Saudi air traffic controllers, engineers, and technicians across monitoring centers and maintenance hubs. The efficient handling of high-volume traffic during the pilgrimage reflects the country's aviation readiness and integrated coordination among national agencies serving pilgrims.
