'Abbott Elementary' Quinta Brunson's Estranged Husband Yet To Respond To Divorce Filing

Yahoo03-06-2025
Quinta Brunson is making moves in court even if her estranged husband is not.
The actress is pushing forward with her divorce from Kevin Anik, who has yet to file an official response to her petition. The latest move comes as Brunson enjoyed glowing recognition in her hometown of Philadelphia, where she was honored with a mural and the key to the city.
Quinta Brunson and Kevin Anik, who kept their relationship mostly out of the spotlight, reportedly got engaged in 2020 and married the following year.
The star filed to end her marriage back in March after more than three years together, citing "irreconcilable differences" in the paperwork. Brunson also asked the court to enforce a postnuptial agreement that outlines how their assets should be divided.
But as of now, Anik has not filed a formal response or made any public comment on the split. Brunson, represented by top-tier divorce firm Wasser, Cooperman & Mandles, which includes celebrity lawyer Laura Wasser, told the court she has already submitted all required financial disclosures.
Those included her income, expenses, assets, debts, and a breakdown of what she considers shared versus separate property, In Touch confirmed.
Before her divorce filing made headlines, Brunson had kept most of her relationship with Anik out of the public eye. The 35-year-old confirmed she was engaged to Anik in July 2020 with a quiet Instagram post featuring a diamond ring and the caption, "More good news."
The Blast reported that their postnuptial agreement covered how the property would be split, and with no children involved, child support was not part of the case.
Despite being married to one of TV's most visible stars, Anik stayed almost entirely off the radar. He had no public social media presence and rarely appeared in Brunson's posts. Still, he did show up to support her during major career milestones.
In 2022, the couple attended the Time 100 Gala together after Brunson was honored as one of the most influential people of the year. They made another public appearance in 2023 at Dwyane Wade's FWRD party, celebrating his Hall of Fame induction.
Apart from showing up with her and red carpets, Brunson also openly expressed love and gratitude for her now-estranged husband during some of the biggest moments of her career.
As she turned her into one of television's breakout stars, she took time during multiple award show speeches to recognize Anik's support.
Brunson first publicly honored him in 2022 while accepting the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, calling him "the most supportive man I've ever known."
In 2023, she thanked him again at the Golden Globes while accepting her award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Series. The praise continued into 2024 when she received her second Emmy, this time for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy, and shared more appreciation for Anik's encouragement.
Although their relationship mainly had stayed out of the spotlight, Brunson's heartfelt tributes revealed the significant role he played in her life before their marriage quietly came to an end.
While her personal life underwent a change coupled with an ongoing divorce, Brunson was honored for her professional success in a significant way back home.
AP News reported that last month, the writer received the key to the city of Philadelphia during a ceremony at her old school, Andrew Hamilton, which inspired the setting of her hit ABC series.
Brunson accepted the honor from Mayor Cherelle Parker with humor, saying, "Wow! I want to ask the question on everybody's mind: What does it open?"
During the event, she celebrated the role public schools played in shaping her story and spotlighted the importance of arts and music in education. Her family and former teachers, including Joyce Abbott, who inspired the show's title, were all there to witness the moment.
Brunson reflected on how murals she saw growing up encouraged her and said she hopes the mural will inspire the next generation the same way.
Even with all that is going on in her personal life, "Abbott Elementary" has kept its momentum going strong and is now officially on its way back.
ABC renewed the hit comedy for a fifth season back in January 2025, surprising fans with a heartwarming video on Instagram featuring the show's beloved student cast members.
"Season 5, here we come! Join your favorite staff and students for more #AbbottElementary on ABC and stream on Hulu," read the post's caption, followed by an enthusiastic nod from Brunson herself."
All of the main cast, including Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tyler James Williams, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, Janelle James, and William Stanford Davis, are set to return alongside Brunson, promising more laughs, lessons, and chaos at the fictional Philadelphia school.
Despite the silence from Kevin Anik's side, Quinta Brunson appears focused on moving the process forward on her terms.

Kid Cudi Explains Why ‘Entergalactic' Never Got a Sequel: ‘I Asked Them Multiple Times'

Kid Cudi is opening up about why his Netflix hit Entergalactic didn't receive a follow-up. In response to a fan on X earlier this week, Cudder said the animated project, which earned critical praise in September 2022 and even won an Emmy, didn't stream the way Netflix expected. Plans of a sequel never came to pass as a result. He added that regardless of Netflix's belief, Entergalactic 'changed the game' and made an undeniable 'impact.' Billboard has reached out to Netflix for comment. Cudi's Entergalactic won the 2023 Primetime Emmy for outstanding individual achievement in animation, and was also nominated for outstanding animated program. The animated special also came with Cudi's eighth studio album, Entergalactic. In other news, Kid Cudi is currently hard at work on a new album. People have been hitting me up the past week just checking in and, and even today, and I just, it really means a lot to me, man,' he wrote at th etime. 'You guys are the best. I love y'all. Watch Justin Bieber Have a ‘Sweet Spot' Dance Party With Sexyy Red in New Video

Justin Bieber and Sexyy Red are getting their swag on. In a video shared by both artists on Instagram on Friday (July 11) — the same day the Canadian pop star dropped his new album, SWAG, with barely any notice — the duo dance along to their new collaboration 'Sweet Spot.' As the rapper twerks and lip-syncs to her verse, Bieber kisses her on the temple before joining her in grooving to the track. More from Billboard Justin Bieber's 'Swag': All 21 Tracks Ranked Oasis Storm Back to U.K. No. 1 Following Reunion Tour Boost Kid Cudi Marries Longtime Partner Lola Abecassis Sartore: 'Next We Need This Baby' 'love you frienddddddddddddd,' the singer captioned his post, noting that he was 'faded' in the smoke-filled clip. In her caption, Sexyy wrote, 'Congratulations my friend just dropped his album.' The hip-hop star is one of a few collaborators Bieber worked with on SWAG, which also features guest spots from Gunna, Druski and Cash Cobain. The LP had barely any promotion leading up to its midnight release, with Bieber simply posting photos of billboards displaying the track list in different cities on Instagram hours before it dropped. SWAG marks Bieber's first album in four years, following 2021's Justice, which spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Before the new record arrived, fans couldn't be sure if or when he would ever release music again, as Bieber had appeared to take a large step back from his pop star career in recent years to focus on his family with Hailey Bieber — with whom he shares 11-month-old son Jack Blues — and recover from partial facial paralysis caused by Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. Sexyy's appearance on SWAG follows her April single 'Hoochie Coochie.' She's also teamed up with Tommy Richman, Snoop Dogg and Central Cee on various tracks in 2025. 13 Iconic Celebrity Wedding Dresses Of Past 25 Years

It's wedding season, and that means it's time to revisit the most iconic, beautiful, and glamorous celebrity wedding dresses of the past 25 years. Whether you're looking for inspo or just want to admire some gorgeous gowns, enjoy! Kate Middleton's Grace Kelly-inspired gown for her 2011 wedding to Prince William: In 2021, Lily Collins married director Charlie McDowell in, dare I say, one of the most beloved wedding dresses of the century. She worked with Ralph Lauren to create the gown and hooded lace cloak, and shared in an Instagram post that the design was her "ultimate dream combination of Western Americana and British Victorian." When Priyanka Chopra married Nick Jonas in 2018, the pair celebrated over multiple days and multiple ceremonies. For their western ceremony, she wore a lace Ralph Lauren dress that was hand-beaded and hand-embroidered and featured a stunning 75-foot veil. And for their Hindu ceremony, Priyanka stunned in a lehenga in the traditional red from Indian designer Sabyasachi. If you were on the internet in any capacity when the couple tied the knot in 2018, there was no escaping discussion of their gorgeous wedding. It was one for the books! Issa Rae surprised fans with her "impromptu" wedding to Louis Diame in 2021. The pair got married in France, and her dress was to die for. Louis's Dolce & Gabbana suit looks incredible, as well! Another fantastic cape moment: Solange Knowles' jumpsuit for her New Orleans wedding to Alan Ferguson. If there's anything cooler than the bride and groom arriving by bike, it's this cape. Kiera Knightley married musician James Righton in a small, private ceremony in the South of France. She wore a tulle Chanel dress, and because she is the iconic Kiera Knightley, she has stunned in the dress at multiple events since then. Sustainable queen! Julianne Moore looked fabulous in a non-traditional look for her wedding to Bart Freundlich in 2003. She kept it low-key but nonetheless radiant in a lavender silk slip dress from Prada, matching her husband's lavender dress shirt. In 2023, Anya Taylor-Joy and musician Malcolm McRae celebrated their marriage in Venice, Italy, for which she wore this beautiful Dior gown. Their large celebration might have been in Venice, but the two had already secretly eloped in New Orleans some months before. Anya shared gorgeous pictures of the New Orleans affair on her Instagram. In 2002, wearing the most early-aughts fairytale look I've seen yet, Gwen Stefani married her now ex-husband Gavin in a glorious pink and white ombré gown from Dior. Instead of having a new gown designed for her 2020 marriage to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Beatrice borrowed and modified an old dress from her grandmother, none other than Queen Elizabeth herself. Beatrice also got to borrow her grandma's diamond tiara, no biggie. Queen Elizabeth originally wore the Norman Hartnell gown to the 1962 premiere of Lawrence of Arabia. The dress was refitted, hemmed, and cap sleeves were added, making it the perfect look for Beatrice's big day. This one might be my favorite on the list. Keyword might. Check out more pictures on the Royal Family's Instagram account! Emma Stone first met her now-husband Dave McCary when she hosted Saturday Night Live in 2016. Their wedding was pretty private, but we did get to admire her reception dress when she re-wore it at the 2022 Met Gala. When Hailey and Justin Bieber got married in their 2019 ceremony, she wore a gown designed by the late Virgil Abloh featuring the veil that took Instagram by storm. "TILL DEATH DO US PART," the veil read. Miranda Kerr looked like a princess in Dior at her 2017 wedding to Evan Spiegel — which is no surprise, considering she told Vogue she was inspired by Grace Kelley's gown. For more pictures, check out Miranda's Instagram. And finally, a special mention to honor an icon: although their wedding was more than 25 years ago, I would be remiss not to mention the black gown Sarah Jessica Parker wore to wed Matthew Broderick in their 1997 ceremony. Icon. Which of these celeb wedding dresses is your favorite? Share your thoughts in the comments!
