Assassination Attempt 1 Anniversary

Sunday was the one year anniversary of the first known assassination attempt on President Donald Trump but shockingly, we still know very little about his would-be assassin, what or who motivated him, or the failures of the secret service.
Perhaps even more puzzling is the fact that not one secret service agent was fired for their actions or inactions on that fateful day in Butler, PA.
Don't forget, just two months later he was targeted again! That time while golfing at Mar-a-Lago!
For me, this is totally unacceptable and especially since our great president is far from out of the woods.
We know he has active threats against his life from Iran. We also know political violence against MAGA conservatives has far from dissipated.
As President Trump fearlessly and unapologetically wins for the American people, his enemy list grows longer.
There is no room for error and no room for complacency!

More tariff threats. Over the weekend President Trump said 30% tariffs on goods from the European Union and Mexico would go into effect on Aug. 1. This would be up from the current rates of 10% and 25% on the two markets' goods respectively. It was unclear if goods that are compliant with the U.S.-Mexico-Canada free-trade agreement would still be exempt from the Mexico tariff, as they are currently.

Tesla on trial after runaway car on Autopilot kills stargazing woman
A jury will decide whether Tesla is partly to blame for the death of a young woman who was hit by an electric car on Autopilot. Naibel Benavides was stargazing at the time of the collision, which sent her flying 22m (75ft) through the air in Florida. Her boyfriend was seriously injured in the 2019 incident, while her body was discovered in a wooded area. George McGee, the Tesla's driver, is not a plaintiff - and reached a separate settlement with the victims' families. Lawyers argue that the car's driver assistance feature should have warned the driver and braked before the collision. It is alleged the Model S sedan blew through red flights and a stop sign at nearly 70mph. But Tesla claims that the driver is solely to blame because he had reached down to pick up a dropped mobile phone at the time. In a statement, the company said: "The evidence clearly shows that this crash had nothing to do with Tesla's Autopilot technology. "Instead, like so many unfortunate accidents since cell phones were invented, this was caused by a distracted driver." Past cases against Tesla have been dismissed or settled, making this jury trial rare. Improvements to the company's driver assistance and partial self-driving features have been made in recent years - but in 2023, 2.3 million Tesla vehicles were recalled amid fears Autopilot was failing to sufficiently alert drivers not paying attention to the road. According to Sky's US partner network NBC News, Elon Musk was not in court as jury selection took place on Monday. Three potential jurors said they would struggle to be fair and impartial to Tesla because of the company's "ethics and ownership". After the jury was selected, a lawyer representing the victims said: "Evidence will show for years before and after this crime, Tesla ignored warnings." They added: "This is a case about shared responsibility. Tesla will take no responsibility for the failures of their Autopilot system. Evidence will show that every actor needs a stage and Tesla set the stage for the preventable actions that bring us here." The jury was also told that evidence will be introduced where Musk publicly declared that Tesla vehicles were "safer than a human".

Walters still considering run for governor, said there's no true MAGA representative running
In an interview with the News Press Wednesday, Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters said he's still considering a possible run for governor of Oklahoma. Walters said the question about his possible candidacy comes up a lot when he's visiting with Oklahomans. 'We haven't made a decision on that yet,' Walters said. 'I get (the question) wherever I go, and it's very humbling. It's an honor to have Oklahomans (ask).' Walters pointed out that Oklahoma is a Republican state, and all 77 counties in the state voted for President Donald Trump. 'People are frustrated. They see that there's no candidate out there that's backing President Trump, and backing the Make America Great Again agenda. ... They want to see that candidate,' Walters said. On Tuesday, Walters announced a partnership with conservative nonprofit PragerU to vet teachers moving into Oklahoma from states with 'progressive education policies.' PragerU will supply the Oklahoma State Department of Education with an America First Assessment that evaluates teachers on 'their knowledge of the U.S. Constitution, their understanding of American exceptionalism, and their grasp of fundamental biological differences between boys and girls.' 'We're sending a clear message: Oklahoma's schools will not be a haven for woke agendas pushed in places like California and New York,' Walters said in the release. 'If you want to teach here, you'd better know the Constitution, respect what makes America great, and understand basic biology. We're raising a generation of patriots, not activists, and I'll fight tooth and nail to keep leftist propaganda out of our classrooms.' The Oklahoma gubernatorial election is more than a year away, and six candidates have already announced their intention to run for governor. Those candidates include former Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives Charles McCall, Democrat House Minority Leader Cyndi Munson, Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond, former Oklahoma State Senator Mike Mazzei, business owner Leisa Mitchell Haynes (originally from Stillwater) and former Republican senator Jake Merrick of 'The Jake Merrick Show.' Drummond and McCall, considered two of the frontrunners, would likely disagree with Walters' assessment they are not MAGA candidates, as both have sought to align themselves with Trump in campaign material. McCall's campaign has called him an 'America First' candidate. Drummond's main campaign website includes a photo with Trump on the front page and gives about 20 seconds of his three-minute pop-up ad to images of Trump. Oklahoma congressman Kevin Hern, who represents Oklahoma's first congressional district, pulled out of the gubernatorial race in December 2024. In a letter to constituents that News 9 obtained, he wrote that President Trump's agenda in the next year would be intense and he was concerned about the 217-215 slim majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. 'Put simply, one member of the House could obstruct President Trump's agenda, and I will not let that be me,' Hern wrote. News Press Editor Beau Simmons contributed to this report.
