West Indies cricket chief calls emergency meeting after Australia debacle
West Indies just avoided New Zealand's record low of 26, set in 1955, and Shallow said there would be an inquest to review a dismal 3-0 series loss.
"The result hurts deeply, not only because of how we lost, but because of what West Indies cricket has always represented to our people: pride, identity, and possibility," Kishore said in a statement.
"There will be some sleepless nights ahead for many of us, including the players, who I know feel this loss just as heavily."
West Indies' previous lowest total was the 47 they scored against England in 2004.
"We are in a rebuilding phase, steadily investing in the next generation, and reigniting the spirit that has long made West Indies cricket a force in the world," said Kishore.
"Progress is rarely straightforward. It takes time, perseverance, and belief, especially in our most difficult moments. The road ahead will test us," he added.
"Now is not the time to turn away."
Kishore said he had invited West Indies greats Clive Lloyd, Viv Richards and Brian Lara to take part in discussions concerning the team's decline which also saw them fail to qualify for the 50-over World Cup in 2023.

All Blacks roll the dice with 10 changes for third France Test
New Zealand coach Scott Robertson stayed true to his pre-series pledge to give game time to every fit player in his initial squad, rolling the dice for Saturday's match in Hamilton where they will chase a series clean sweep. Replacement hooker Brodie McAlister is poised to make his Test debut while fullback Ruben Love will make a first start, having notched a lone cap off the bench against Japan last year. Love and McAlister are among eight players who played no part in the first two Tests against a weakened French tour squad missing most of their first-choice players, who are being rested. The All Blacks won a tense first match 31-27 in Dunedin before finding their rhythm in last week's 43-17 victory in Wellington. There are six changes to the backline, with only wing Rieko Ioane retaining his starting spot. McKenzie is handed another chance to prove his value as the team's playmaker. McKenzie wore the number 10 jersey in the first eight Tests of Robertson's tenure last year but he was alternated with Beauden Barrett during their season-ending northern hemisphere tour. The 136-Test veteran Barrett started both French Tests but has been ruled out this week with a hand injury. All four inside backs -- scrum-half Cortez Ratima, McKenzie and midfield backs Quinn Tupaea and Anton Lienert-Brown -- play for Super Rugby team the Waikato Chiefs, whose home ground is Hamilton. Lienert-Brown is among four players who were ruled unavailable earlier in the series because of injury, along with prop Tyrel Lomax, back-rower Luke Jacobson and wing Sevu Reece. Ardie Savea has been named captain for a second straight match in the absence of regular skipper Scott Barrett, who suffered a calf injury in the first Test. France coach Fabien Galthie is expected to also significantly change his team, to be announced later on Thursday. New Zealand (15-1): Ruben Love; Sevu Reece, Anton Lienert-Brown, Quinn Tupaea, Rieko Ioane; Damian McKenzie, Cortez Ratima; Luke Jacobson, Ardie Savea (capt), Samipeni Finau; Fabian Holland, Patrick Tuipulotu; Tyrel Lomax, Samisoni Taukei'aho, Ethan de Groot.

Wallabies get Valetini fitness boost ahead of Lions Test
The ACT Brumbies stalwart -- arguably Australia's best player -- has been battling a hamstring issue and missed their warm-up clash against Fiji this month. But Englishman Parling -- who played for the Lions on their last tour of Australia in 2013 -- said the backrower was making progress and could feature if he passes a fitness final test. "Rob trained (on Tuesday). He's a quality player like everyone knows and we're very hopeful he'll be available for selection," said Parling, who will depart the Wallabies to become Leicester Tigers head coach once the Lions tour is over. There have been suggestions that the Wallabies might not risk Valetini for the first Test in Brisbane on Saturday, with two more Tests to come. But Parling said they would select their strongest team. "In terms of saving people for a series, I don't think you'd ever really do that. It's more just if someone's fit and ready to perform, can they improve a team?" he said. "If yeah, we'll get them out there." France-based lock Will Skelton has also been dealing with a niggle, but he too is back training, leaving Parling and Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt with a selection dilemma. Nick Frost and Jeremy Williams hold second row incumbency, but the giant Skelton could prove invaluable given the physical threat posed by the Lions. "It certainly does (complicate things)," admitted Parling, "It's different when Will's in there. He brings different attributes that other guys don't have, certainly around the static excursion points like scrum, the maul, other bits, the collision. It makes my job a bit harder." Australia name their matchday 23 on Thursday. With first choice fly-half Noah Lolesio out of the series after neck surgery, the number 10 jersey is up for grabs. Ben Donaldson was initially seen as favourite to take the role, but Tom Lynagh appears to have jumped in front of him with Australian media saying he would get the nod to start. Should Lynagh play, he will match the feat of his father Michael Lynagh, a long-time Wallabies fly-half and trusty kicker, who also played against the Lions in 1989. © 2025 AFP

Springbok Wiese banned for four matches over head butt
The 29-year-old back-rower will miss a one-off Test against Georgia in Mbombela this Saturday and three Rugby Championship matches -- two at home to Australia and one against New Zealand in Auckland. Wiese will be available for selection when the Springboks face the All Blacks in Wellington on September 13, seven days after the first meeting between the sides. South Africa then face Argentina twice to complete their Rugby Championship schedule. They meet France, Italy, Ireland and Wales during a November tour to Europe. Wiese was red-carded after 22 minutes of the first half in the second Test against Italy when South Africa were leading by 10 points. The Rugby World Cup title-holders went to win Saturday's game 45-0. His place in the team to face Georgia this weekend will be taken by his younger brother, Cobus Wiese, who made his Test debut last Saturday. Jasper Wiese played for the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein and Leicester Tigers before joining Japanese outfit Urayasu D-Rocks last year.
