Beyoncé's tour becomes highest-grossing country tour

Beyoncé has carved a new chapter in music history with her groundbreaking Cowboy Carter Tour, which has become the highest-grossing country tour ever. The tour pulled in a staggering R7.5 billion (approximately $407.6 million) from 1.6 million tickets sold across 32 shows. The tour spanned nine cities across North America and Europe, concluding with electrifying performances in Las Vegas. The show featured surprise appearances from Jay-Z, Shaboozey, and a Destiny's Child reunion, according to Complex . Starting in late April 2025, Beyoncé strategically streamlined her tour schedule to focus on fewer cities but multiple nights in each. Highlights included five shows in Los Angeles, six in London, and several nights in Chicago and New York. This approach allowed her to maximise ticket sales within a tighter itinerary, making the Cowboy Carter Tour the shortest yet fastest tour to surpass the $400 million milestone. The tour's success also cemented Beyoncé as the highest-grossing Black and R&B artist of all time. At 43, she became the first woman and the first American artist to have two separate tours gross more than $400 million. She joins elite company with acts like Coldplay and Ed Sheeran. The tour was notable not only for its financial triumph but also for its bold artistic statement in country music, a genre where Beyoncé faced early criticism. She explained that the album and tour were born from personal experiences of exclusion. It was inspired by deep research into the rich history of country music, particularly the overlooked contributions of Black artists. BEYONCÉ ON MUSICAL HISTORY Beyoncé told fans on Instagram, 'It feels good to see how music can unite so many people around the world. It can amplify the voices of those who have dedicated their lives to educating on our musical history.' She described the project as a way to challenge limitations and blend genres to create fresh sounds. Beyoncé's success is a powerful example of global cultural influence transcending traditional boundaries. Her ability to lead on multiple fronts, as a Black woman, an R&B artist, and a country music pioneer, reflects resilience and versatility that resonates widely. The tour's enormous sales and the crowd sizes show the global reach of contemporary music culture. The shows delivered a rich and immersive experience, featuring over 40 songs, elaborate stage designs, and special moments with family and guests. Beyoncé's daughters, Blue Ivy and Rumi, also appeared throughout the tour, highlighting a touching family narrative on stage. The grand finale in Las Vegas drew immense excitement with the Destiny's Child reunion. This took fans down memory lane with hits like Bootylicious . Speaking about the tour's impact, Beyoncé said, 'The criticisms I faced when I first entered this genre forced me to propel past the limitations that were put on me. This act is a result of challenging myself and taking my time to bend and blend genres.' The Cowboy Carter Tour, with its record-breaking revenue and cultural significance, is a testament to her artistry and determination. Tyla achieves double gold in the US with ‘Jump' and ‘Push 2 Start'

South Africa is beaming with pride as global music sensation Tyla continues to break barriers. This week, Tyla's singles Jump and Push 2 Start both officially crossed an important milestone in the United States. Both songs earned Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). That means each song has now sold more than 500,000 units in the US. This is equivalent to over R9.1 million in sales per song, at current exchange rates, according to Table Chart. This is a massive achievement, especially for a young artist hailing from Johannesburg. Tyla's energetic sound and global appeal have taken the world by storm. These new certifications cement her place among South Africa's brightest musical exports. 'To know that my songs are enjoyed by so many people, not just at home but internationally, is a blessing I do not take lightly,' Tyla shared on Instagram. 'My fans have always held me up, and this is our win!' Earning Gold status in the US is no small feat for any musician. For artists from outside the country, the bar is even higher. The RIAA awards a Gold certification when a song has sold at least 500,000 copies through a combination of sales and streaming. This marks true mainstream success. For South Africans, this news feels even more special. Tyla's story inspires young creatives who see her as living proof that it is possible to reach global heights from the African continent. The singer's music infuses Amapiano, pop, and R&B, creating a sound that is uniquely South African yet universal. Songs like Jump and Push 2 Start resonate with audiences in Johannesburg and New York alike. Her relatable lyrics and infectious energy have made her a favourite on both streaming platforms and international radio stations. With this latest achievement, industry insiders predict Tyla is set for even greater things. There's already talk of upcoming international collaborations, music videos, and a highly anticipated album. Jessie J admitted to hospital six weeks after surgery

Jessie J has shared that she was hospitalised, just six weeks after undergoing surgery for breast cancer. The 37-year-old singer revealed her early-stage cancer diagnosis in April this year. She subsequently had a mastectomy followed by breast reconstruction. In an update to her fans on Sunday morning, 3 August 2025, she mentioned she unexpectedly fell ill and found herself back in hospital. Jessie J announced her breast cancer diagnosis early June 2025. While the news was undoubtedly distressing, she found comfort in the fact that the cancer was detected at an early stage. On 23 June 2025, the singer underwent surgery to remove the cancer, followed by breast reconstruction shortly thereafter. By 7 July 2025, Jessie took to Instagram to share news that her surgery was successful. In addition to that, her results showed no signs of cancer. The singer shared news of her hospitalisation early Sunday morning, 3 August 2025, on her Instagram story. 'How I spent the last 24 hours,' she wrote in a caption, alongside a photo of a cannula inserted into her arm. 'Six weeks post surgery and I was back in the same ward I was after my surgery,' she wrote. 'Not expected or planned.' The singer revealed that she had been experiencing symptoms that suggested a blood clot. After undergoing tests, it turned out it wasn't a blood clot but an infection and fluid in her lungs instead. Despite struggling to breathe, she chose to discharge herself on 2 August 2025 and plans to continue treatment as an outpatient.
