We Were Liars Season 2 When? Candice King and Caitlin Fitzgerald Pitch the Ultimate '90s Throwback
In addition to its central tragedy (R.I.P., half the cast!), the Prime Video series also drops several major hints about another skeleton in the wealthy Sinclair family's closet: the tragic death of Penny, Carrie and Bess' younger sister Rosemary at just 10 years old. Details about her drowning are revealed gradually, but one moment in the finale confirms that we still only know a fraction of the story.

While discussing the deaths of their own children, Bess tells Carrie, 'Sometimes I think losing them was our punishment, like that one tiny ember was sent from God or the universe or Beechwood Island.' When Carrie asks Bess what they'd be punished for, she chillingly replies, 'For what we did in Summer 16, the summer I was 16. But then I think, if it was our punishment, Penny wouldn't have been spared, right?'
With that simple exchange, a seed has been planted for a potential second season, and there's plenty of source material for it. Just as Season 1 was a largely faithful adaptation of E. Lockhart's 2014 novel We Were Liars, Season 2 would pull from Lockhart's 2022 follow-up Family of Liars, which turns back the clock to explore the aforementioned Rosemary tragedy.
Needless to say (but we'll let them say it anyway), the cast is game for a return to Beechwood Island. 'Because we know the prequel and the origin story of these three complicated women, it would be really fun to go back and do that,' Caitlin Fitzgerald tells TVLine of adapting Family of Liars for the screen.
And if you're at all on the fence about wanting another season, allow Candice King to pitch the heck out of it: 'Who doesn't love a throwback to the '90s?' she asks TVLine. In fact, that's only the start of her and Fitzgerald's A+ pitches for the show's future.

‘Jurassic World Rebirth' roars to top of the box office
Dinosaurs are alive and well at the box office as Universal's 'Jurassic World Rebirth' trampled competitors, grossing $147 million domestically over five days of the Fourth of July weekend. The fourth installment of the 'Jurassic World' series outperformed early estimates of nearly $80 million for the three days and $135 million for the five days. It nearly matched its predecessor from 2022, 'Jurassic World Dominion,' which grossed $145 million in its first three days before raking in over $1 billion worldwide. 'Jurassic World Rebirth' is another win for Hollywood, which has effectively rebounded from a sluggish start to 2025. The box office is up more than 14% year-to-date compared with last year, according to Comscore, which collects box office data. The summer season, which Comscore begins tracking on the first Friday in May, is faring even better — up 15% compared to 2024. 'Jurassic Park Rebirth' is the seventh film in the franchise, which began with Steven Spielberg's 'Jurassic Park' in 1993. The original movie would go on to gross $924 million worldwide, or $2 billion when adjusted for inflation. While 'Jurassic World' was a new era for the franchise, calling the fourth film 'Rebirth,' and casting Scarlett Johansson, likely reinvigorated the brand, according to Paul Dergarabedian, a senior media analyst at Comscore. 'This brand will never go extinct because it continues to thrill audiences,' he said. 'It's most impressive to have a franchise three decades old, topping the chart once again.' 'Jurassic World Rebirth' knocked Apple and Warner Bros. Pictures' 'F1' down a peg to No. 2. 'F1' grossed $26 million domestically this weekend, a 54% drop from the week prior. The racing movie starring Brad Pitt opened last weekend to roughly $55.6 million domestically and $144 million worldwide. Warner Bros. Discovery is the parent company of CNN. ''F1' is interesting because it's absolutely killing it at the international box office,' said Dergarabedian. '(It's) a sport that is more internationally centric than in the United States.' 'Jurassic World Rebirth' and 'F1' will face fierce competition next week when Warner Bros.' 'Superman' opens in theaters. Analysts expect 'Superman' to gross over $100 million in its opening weekend. 'The best thing for 'Superman' is the success of 'Jurassic' and 'F1.' The rising tide raises all ships,' said Dergarabedian. Shawn Robbins, director of analytics at Fandango and founder and owner of Box Office Theory, said the releases of 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' 'Superman,' and Disney's 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' (July 25) could account for about a quarter of the domestic box office this summer. Robbins added that 'F1,' 'Jurassic World Rebirth' and 'Superman' will likely attract similar audiences of young men. 'Superman' could also appeal to families and younger audiences. 'It's summer. It's the time when multiple films can coexist, so if any of them are going to do it, this is a good set of movies to pull it off,' he said.

Carla Maxwell, Keeper of the José Limón Flame, Dies at 79
Carla Maxwell, a dancer and choreographer who led the José Limón Dance Company for nearly 40 years, forging a path for how modern dance troupes can endure beyond the death of their founders, died on Sunday in Manhattan. She was 79. Her nephew, Omar Guerrero, confirmed her death, at a nursing home, but did not specify a cause. When Ms. Maxwell became artistic director of the Limón company in 1977, few people expected her to last very long. Mr. Limón had died five years earlier, and no other major modern dance company had survived after its founder had died. Like Martha Graham, Mr. Limón was the star dancer and principal choreographer of his namesake troupe. Appraisals after his death recalled the brooding charisma and moral certitude of his stage presence and ranked him as one of America's greatest choreographers. What was the Limón company without its creator and guiding force? 'We not only had to prove that we could survive,' Ms. Maxwell said in an interview for the 2001 documentary 'Limón: A Life Beyond Words.' 'We had to prove that José's work was worth maintaining.' Ms. Maxwell, who had joined the company as a dancer in 1965, made her argument through action. Preserving company staples while also regularly reviving neglected or lost Limón works and importing and commissioning works by other choreographers, she attracted dancers, audiences and funders. This became a model for other companies, like Graham's, after their founders died. The inclusion of works by choreographers other than Mr. Limón was not a break with company history. Born in Mexico to parents who migrated to Los Angeles, Mr. Limón was the protégé of the choreographer Doris Humphrey, who, alongside Graham, had emerged from the school and company of Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn. Mr. Limón became the lead male dancer of the company that Ms. Humphrey shared with Charles Weidman, and when he decided to found his own troupe, in 1946, he took the unusual step of asking Ms. Humphrey to serve as artistic director.
