Dele Alli 'looking for a new club' after being banished from Como squad by Cesc Fabregas - amid claims former Tottenham star was 'considering retirement'
Dele Alli is reportedly searching for a new club after being left out of Como's preseason plans by manager Cesc Fabregas. This news comes after reports in Italy stated that the former England international was contemplating retirement at just 29 years old, following a turbulent half-decade in football. Dele is training away from Como's squad as they prepare for their preseason camp in Marbella, and now appears to be a surplus to requirements at the Serie A club, just months after joining from Everton. Nevertheless, Dele still wants to continue his playing career, while Como have told him he must do so elsewhere, according to The Telegraph. The former Tottenham star made just one appearance for the club, which last just nine minutes. After coming off the bench for his debut in March, he was sent off for a challenge on fellow English midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek. It remains to be seen what level Dele continues his football career at, but a move to a Premier League club would certainly be an unlikely lifeline. Dele's exit from Como marks another sobering chapter in a career that once promised so much. He burst onto the scene as a teenage sensation at MK Dons before securing a move to Spurs in 2015, where he won back-to-back PFA Young Player of the Year awards. Aged 22, he starred for England at the 2018 World Cup, helping the Three Lions reach the semi-finals. However, following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs, Dele struggled to win the trust of successive managers and was eventually shipped out to Everton in 2022. A loan move to Besiktas followed but was cut short due to injury and disciplinary issues. Dele has previously spoken about the mental toll his career has taken, bravely opening up in an emotional interview in 2023 about childhood trauma and his struggles with addiction. He explained that he had been molested at the age of six, started smoking and dealing drugs by eight, and had attempted to take his own life during his darkest moments. The midfielder revealed in early 2024 that he had been targeting a spot at the 2026 World Cup with England as he looks at an eventual return to international football. Dele previously starred as an England regular and played at Euro 2016 and the World Cup in Russia two years later, but hasn't featured since making his 37th international appearance six years ago. 'You know you can set reminders on your phone, I have a reminder at 11 o'clock every day that says, "World Cup 2026",' he said on Sky Sports in April last year. 'That's my aim for now. I think that people will be like, "he hasn't played in a year" but I don't care, I know my level. 'The only target I have is the World Cup right now. Obviously I'm injured and contracted to Everton and so my mind is just about taking it day by day and making sure my injury is healed and that I'm in the best possible condition after the summer. 'It's annoying because I'll be just fully training as the season ends so it means that I won't have to rush it.'

Chloe Kelly received explanation for MBE snub as Lioness now set to be rewarded
Chloe Kelly has been a key figure for England at the last two Euros, and the Lionesses forward is set to earn the recognition she deserves after being snubbed for an MBE in 2023 England star Chloe Kelly could be set to receive an MBE after being controversially overlooked for the honour in 2023. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has indicated that "recognition is coming" for certain members of the Euro 2025-winning Lionesses squad. Following their triumph three years earlier, Sarina Wiegman 's team successfully retained their European title in Switzerland. The Lionesses overturned a deficit to beat World Cup nemeses Spain on spot-kicks and claim the trophy for the second consecutive tournament. Kelly once more proved England's saviour as she slotted home the crucial penalty in Basel. The celebrations echoed those from Euro 2022, when her extra-time strike secured victory against Germany in the final. Despite this, the 27-year-old was excluded from the 2023 New Year's Honours list whilst team-mates Lucy Bronze and Beth Mead were awarded MBEs. Record goalscorer Ellen White received the same recognition, while skipper Leah Williamson was made an OBE. Kelly and her fellow Lionesses were snubbed in 2023 after the honours committee said it did not wish to recognise "the entire squad." As for its reasoning, the committee explained its logic was due to the fact that the tournament was a European championship and not a World Cup. "We tried to stick to the principles of the honour system, which is to recognise excellence and to recognise extraordinary contributions," said Sir Hugh Robertson, chairman of the sports honours committee, at the time. "That's particularly the case with [the] selection of players who set the country alight. So we wanted to recognise and capture that, but to do it in a way that picked out the outstanding performances we saw throughout the tournament. "I think also in the back of my mind was the fact it was a European competition and not a world one. They have a world championship next summer." However, Kelly and fellow Euro 2025 hero Hannah Hampton could be in line for recognition in the upcoming New Year's Honours. Manager Wiegman might also receive an award of her own, with rumours she could be named an honorary Dame. "What Sarina and our Lionesses have achieved is nothing short of remarkable," Starmer told the Sun on Sunday (via the Daily Express). "So recognition is coming - and it will be worthy of their historic success." The Lionesses made history as the first English football team to win a major international honour since 1966 when they secured the European title three years ago. However, Wiegman's accomplishment in retaining the title this summer is an even more significant achievement. To begin with, England didn't enjoy home-field advantage this time around. Moreover, they triumphed over a Spain side that has been a dominant force in international football in recent years, having beaten England to the World Cup title in 2023. It's almost poetic that after being overlooked for an MBE when England's heroes were last recognised, Kelly returned to play a pivotal part in the Euro 2025 final. The Arsenal attacker also came off the bench to net a 119th-minute comeback winner against Italy in the semi-finals. Chelsea goalkeeper Hampton proved equally vital throughout the tournament and produced two legendary stops during the penalty shootout triumph over Spain. She earned Player of the Match honours for her display in the decider, with Wiegman effusive in her praise of the new No. 1. "You really have to step up and show it and so did she," she said of her goalkeeper's heroics in Switzerland. "I think she's done amazing. It's a very bit like a fairy tale to stop those penalties in the final of the Euros and to win it." Hampton's contribution proved even more remarkable considering she had enormous shoes to fill following Mary Earps' retirement. Nevertheless, she has slotted effortlessly into the position and played a vital role in her nation retaining the European title.

Wayne Rooney's son Kai brutally trolled by opponent who copies dad's famous celebration after scoring winner
KAI ROONEY was brutally trolled by his opponent who cheekily copied one of dad Wazza's most famous goal celebrations. And Prem legend Wayne, 39, was forced to watch on from the stands as Manchester United's youngsters lost 1-0 in the Super Cup NI final. 5 5 5 Jude Daniels scored a second-half winner as Southampton's U16's upset a Rooney family day out, with mum Coleen also in the crowd. Kai and Jacey Carrick, sons of former Man Utd players Wayne and Michael, were the two big-name attractions in Northern Ireland on Saturday. But it was teenage star Daniels who stole all of the glory eight minutes into the second-half. After an outstandingly slick team goal that mimicked one of prime Manchester City 's build ups, Daniels reaped further misery with a knockout celebration. Daniels whipped out one of Wayne Rooney 's most iconic celebrations after a cool one-touch finish past the keeper from six yards. The young striker did Rooney's legendary shadow boxing cele, punching the air twice before falling backwards to the turf. The Man Utd legend did the action when he scored against Tottenham in 2015 at Old Trafford. Rooney 's viral celebration was in reference to a video of him getting knocked out by former team-mate Phil Bardsley. Daniels was swarmed by his team-mates after scoring what proved to be the winner. Kai, 15, fired into the side netting as United looked for an immediate response. 'Better than what we currently have' - Man Utd fans drooling over Wayne Rooney's son Kai's goal for academy team Camron Mpofu missed a golden opportunity to equalise and Gazimagamed Ibragimov fired over in injury-time from a corner. But it was the Saints who lifted the prestigious youth cup, with Michael Carrick and wife Lisa supporting their son too. Kai himself went viral after mimicking Viktor Gyokeres' mask celebration after scoring in the first group game. The United side had topped their group and beat local team County Down in the semi-finals.
