Suniel Shetty Faces Severe Backlash For ‘Wife Should Take Care Of Kids' Remark: ‘Just Stop Talking'

Suniel Shetty faces backlash for suggesting wives focus on children while husbands build careers. Social media users criticize his views on marital responsibilities. Suniel Shetty has yet again found himself in hot water as the actor spoke about husband and wife balancing responsibilities. The actor's statement suggested that a wife needs to understand that if a husband is busy building his career, then she should focus on the child. This statement has now invited severe social media backlash. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Suniel Shetty stated, 'Aaj kal bachon mein patience hai hi nahi. Shaadi kuch time ke baad ek samjhauta hota hai, where you have to understand each other, live for each other. (Kids these days have no patience. Marriage, after a while, becomes a compromise, where you have to understand each other and live for one another)." 'Phir ek bacha aata hai, aur patni ko yeh jaan na zaruri hai ki husband career banayega toh bache ko main dekh rahi hoon. Husband, of course, saath mein dekhega. Par aaj kal sab cheezon mein pressure bohot ho gaya hai. (Then a child comes into the picture, and the wife needs to understand that if the husband is building his career, she will need to take care of the child. Of course, the husband will also be involved. But these days, there is just too much pressure in everything)," he further added. This statement of the actor didn't sit well with social media, and the internet is now bashing him for his views. 'He needs to stop talking," one user wrote. Another commented, 'Bhai apni image khud hee kharab kar raha hai… Sometimes being quiet is the wisest thing. Doesn't their PR team advise them? Or even people around them?" Another user added, 'Don't get deceived by his looks or the kind of roles they play. Suniel is ultimately 60+ and has a mindset similar to many people in his age group. This stands true for his contemporaries too." 'After the natural birth warrior story, he is back with a male chauvinism anecdote! Seriously, he should just stop talking," one commented. Another user slammed him, calling the statement 'unacceptable." On the work front, Suniel Shetty is currently seen in Hunter 2, streaming on Amazon MX Player. In the sequel, he reprises his role as ACP Vikram Sinha, who embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue his kidnapped daughter. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Laverne Cox Hails Orange Is The New Black For Changing Trans Narratives: 'Never Seen Anything…'

Laverne Cox believes Orange Is the New Black changed the narrative about trans people. She expressed pride in her role as Sophia Burset. Laverne Cox thinks Orange Is the New Black has helped to change the 'narrative with and about trans people". The 53-year-old actress rose to prominence as Sophia Burset on Orange Is the New Black, becoming the first transgender person to be nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in an acting category, and Laverne feels very proud of the hit Netflix show. She told Extra: 'When Orange happened, I was in such bliss because I just loved telling the story. I had never seen anything on TV like that before. I also knew that if I was going to have the mainstream career no other trans person has had … We needed to change the narrative with and about trans people." Asked what has impressed her the most about her own life journey, Laverne replied: 'That I'm still here … For me, it's about the lessons that I've learned." Laverne previously argued that being a black transgender woman has limited her opportunities as an actress. The Orange Is The New Black star believes she's been overlooked for certain roles because of her profile – but Laverne thinks the landscape is improving and she still considers herself to be 'blessed". She said: 'Two years ago … I was in the waiting room with actresses who were like, 'Oh my God, this is my fourth audition today.' And I was like, 'Oh, I've never auditioned that much.' There have never been that many parts as a black, openly transgender woman. Because I am who I am, there probably have been fewer opportunities for me to work. I feel like we've made the very most of what we have been given … I feel very blessed now." However, Laverne is now determined to make the most of her platform by campaigning for certain demographics to be better represented in Hollywood. She explained, 'Certainly there are fewer opportunities for someone like me being black and being trans and being a woman. In the face of that, it's not bad. The truth is I'm one of the lucky ones. The question for me becomes … as I produce, how to bring other people along for the ride." First Published: July 27, 2025, 17:22 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
