India's May 10 airstrikes destroyed a Pakistani SAAB-2000 early warning aircraft 315 km inside enemy territory and took down multiple Pakistani fighter jets and a military transport aircraft, according to a HT report quoting Indian officials. During the May 10 military action, Indian Air Force (IAF) missiles struck key Pakistani aircraft and military targets across the border.A SAAB-2000 airborne early warning system was destroyed deep inside Pakistan, nearly 315 kilometres from the border. Indian sources also confirmed that the strikes downed a C-130J medium-lift transport aircraft, one JF-17 fighter, and two F-16 jets, both in the air and on the ground, HT report stated. These strikes were part of India's Operation Sindoor, launched in response to earlier tensions. Pakistan tried to respond with its own Operation Bunyan al-Marsoos, which began at 1:00 am on May 10 with a plan to target Indian air bases over the next 48 hours. However, the response ended within eight hours.Indian airstrikes, launched from Rafale and Su-30MKI aircraft using SCALP and BrahMos missiles, disrupted Pakistani operations and forced Islamabad to seek a ceasefire by reaching out to the United States by 9:30 am, according to people familiar with the matter.India's S-400 air defense system , deployed in Adampur, was activated 11 times during the operation. One of its confirmed hits was the Pakistani SAAB-2000 early warning aircraft flying hundreds of kilometers inside Pakistan's airspace. The first IAF strike reportedly disabled the northern air command-control network at the Nur Khan airbase in Chaklala. The final wave of strikes hit Jacobabad and Bholari airbases. By then, Pakistan had withdrawn from active confrontation and was appealing for a ceasefire. On May 10, Indian missiles also destroyed a Chinese-supplied LY-80 air defense system in Lahore using a HARPY kamikaze drone. Another strike took out the HQ-9 surface-to-air system, the Chinese version of the S-300, in Malir, Karachi.Prior to the May 10 operation, Indian forces had targeted nine terrorist camps on May 7. Seven of these were hit using loitering munitions by the Army, Air Force, and Navy. High-value targets in Muridke and Bahawalpur were struck using SCALP and BrahMos missiles with precision-guided accuracy. The Indian Navy was prepared to strike the Karachi Naval Port on the morning of May 10, with warships positioned 260 miles off the Makran Coast. However, after a warning from Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of potential retaliation, India held back. Later that day, the Pakistani DGMO requested a no-fire pact.

Amid Trump tariff threat, PM Modi pledges to protect farmers, MSMEs & youth

VARANASI: Amid the tariff stalemate with the USA, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday sent a strong message to the world that protecting India's economic interest was paramount. Speaking in his parliamentary constituency on Saturday, the PM emphasised that the "top priority of the government remains the welfare of farmers, small industries and employment for youth." He reaffirmed the resilience of the Indian economy, saying that the country must remain vigilant about its economic interests and adopt 'swadeshi' products. "There is an atmosphere of global instability. All countries are focusing on their individual interests. India is going to become the third biggest economy in the world and this is why India will have to stay alert as far as its economic interests are concerned," the PM said, two days after UP President Donald Trump called India a 'dead economy'. CM Yogi Adityanath and two deputy CMs, Keshav Maurya and Brajesh Pathak were present on the occasion. Addressing a public gathering at Kalikadham in Sevapuri after transferring Rs 20,500 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 9.70 crore farmers as the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme and inaugurating and laying the foundation of 52 projects worth around Rs 2,200 crore, the PM urged people to go 'Vocal for Local'. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Victoria Principal Is Almost 75, See Her Now Reportingly Undo "Anyone who wishes good for the country and wants to see India become the third-largest economy must encourage this spirit of going local," he said. The PM urged traders to promote 'swadeshi' products, terming it a true national service, and appealed to citizens to use Indian-made goods during the upcoming festivals and wedding seasons. He also advised people to hold weddings in India instead of abroad, highlighting that many young people were already doing so. "Every choice we make in favour of 'Swadeshi' will shape the future of the country. With everyone's effort, the dream of a developed India will come true. From now on, let's pledge to buy and decorate our homes with only Indian-made products," he added. Modi highlighted his government's farmer-centric policies, stating that unlike previous governments, the BJP administration has fulfilled its promises to farmers, citing the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi as a prime example. "When this scheme was launched, opposition parties like the Samajwadi Party and Congress left no stone unturned to mislead farmers by claiming that after the 2019 Lok Sabha election, it would be stopped and even the money transferred into the accounts of farmers would be taken back. However, Rs 3.75 lakh crore has been transferred directly to farmers' accounts so far," he said. In UP alone, 2.5 crore farmers have received over Rs 90,000 crore, while farmers from Kashi got Rs 900 crore, he added. Referring to the transparency maintained in the schemes of his govt, Modi said, "There are no cuts, commissions, or middlemen. We created a permanent system where there's no leakage and no one can steal the rights of the poor." Prime Minister Modi emphasized developing the most backward regions with his mantra of 'High priority to more backward'. He highlighted the newly approved PM Dhan Dhanya Agriculture Scheme, focusing on underdeveloped districts with low crop production and income. He said the govt will invest Rs 24,000 crore in this scheme to support farmers from 'lab to field' and 'seed to market' for their products. Massive investments are being made in irrigation, and under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, over Rs 1.75 lakh crore in claims were already paid out to farmers. Modi also mentioned a record increase in the MSP for farmers. Emphasising the govt's focus on boosting women's participation in agriculture through initiatives like Lakhpati Didi and Drone Didi, he stated that the aim is to empower 3 crore rural women financially, with over 1.5 crore already becoming Lakhpati Didis. Taking a subtle dig at the opposition, the PM said: "Hearing these numbers, SP leaders might just hop on their cycles and run away. " Despite agriculture being a state subject, the Centre has taken proactive steps to enhance farmers' income and living standards by implementing beneficial schemes, PM Modi said. He praised banks for launching a mega campaign and holding fairs in villages across the country for KYC renewal of the account holders under the Jan-Dhan scheme on the completion of its 10 years of launching. Modi also marked the distribution of assistive devices under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana to 2,000 Divyangs by handing over devices, including low vision glasses to Babli Kumari (visually impaired student), sports wheelchairs to Santosh Kumar Pandey and Vikas Kumar Patel, hearing aids to Kishun, and a motorized tricycle to Sita Kumari Pal (teacher). Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan joined the event virtually from Patna. Stay informed with the latest business news, updates on bank holidays and public holidays . 'Arrest Mohan Bhagwat': Ex-ATS Officer Drops Bombshell On Fake Saffron Terror Plot | Malegaon Blast In a staggering twist, a retired ATS officer has shaken the political landscape by claiming he was instructed to arrest RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat during the 2008 Malegaon blast probe. Speaking after the acquittal of all accused, including BJP MP Pragya Thakur, ex-Inspector Mehiboob Mujawar alleged that the saffron terror narrative was a fabrication, driven by political pressure. He described the directives as "horrific" and claims he refused to follow them, leading to his career's destruction via a false case. His allegations bring the focus sharply back to the credibility of terror investigations under UPA, and raise serious questions about the weaponisation of law enforcement. Opposition parties are now demanding answers, warning that faith in national security agencies is at risk. With claims of planted evidence, suppressed truths, and institutional vendetta, this case has reignited the saffron vs secular firestorm in Indian politics, and it's far from over.#malegaonblastcase, #mohanbhagwat, #mehiboobmujawar, #rsschiefcontroversy, #saffronterordebate, #pragyasinghthakur, #ltcolpurohit, #niacourtverdict, #faketerrorcharges, #atsinvestigation, #maharashtraats, #politicalvendetta, #antirssnarrative, #bjpvscongress, #indianjudiciary, #falseterrorcases, #nationalinvestigationagency, #indianpolitics, #judicialacquittal, #malegaoncaseacquittal, #hindutvanarrative, #2008malegaonblast #breakingnews #trending #bharat #toi #toibharat #indianews 2.8K views | 1 day ago

CM unveils T sports policy, says will bring youth back to ground

Hyderabad: In a big fillip to the sport in the state, chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday unveiled the sports policy, which he said would put the youth on the right track. The CM felt the new sports policy would bring back the sporting glory the city enjoyed in the past. "Hyderabad has a rich history of sports. Nine of the Indian football team that finished fourth in the 1954 Olympics were from Hyderabad. But the state lost track later and the sport was neglected in the last 10-15 years without proper policy. The youth, who played a crucial part in achieving a separate state, are now addicted to drugs. We plan to bring them back to the grounds with the new policy," Revanth Reddy said, addressing the sporting fraternity at the 1st Telangana Sports Conclave at HICC, Izzatnagar. He also sounded a warning that the state has declared a war on drug mafia and no one would be spared in this regard. Revanth said the "sports policy will not be a mere paper as the govt is dedicated to implement it to the letter and will go the distance in supporting athletes to achieve their dreams". "Our govt is committed to promoting sports. We have shown our commitment by giving Group I posts and plots to cricketer Mohammed Siraj and boxer Nikhat Zareen. Our govt policy is clear. We have formed committees with former athletes and administrators. There will be no influence from the govt," he added. He further revealed that they offered to host Khelo India games and also plan to hold two disciplines if India gets to host the 2036 Olympics. "We will have a dedicated sports university and sports academy. Our aim is to see India as a sporting nation and, as a part of our Telangana Rising Vision 2047, a chapter will be dedicated to sports. There was no budget for sports till now. We will have dedicated budget for the betterment of the sport," he added. MoUs with foreign universities During the one-day conclave, the state govt signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with two foreign universities — Korea National Sports University in Seoul, South Korea, and Loughborough University based in Loughborough and London. The proposed sports university, to be run from Gachibowli for now, would share academic knowledge, curriculum, coaches training programmes, academic research and project collaboration. The govt has also signed MoUs with Olympic bronze medal winning shooter Gagan Narang's Gun For Glory, Abhinav Bindra's Sports Academy and FIFA to establish a FIFA Talent Academy in the state. They also signed MoUs with Anil Kumble's Tenvic, which will help them scout talent in 1,000 residential schools with 50 of them being centres of excellence (CoEs), Olympic Values Education Programme and Aspire for Her. Narang, Bindra and Pullela Gopichand would also conduct shooting, sports science and badminton mentorship programmes respectively. Incentives to athletes The CM also handed over cash incentives to athletes who had done the state proud by winning medals. Athlete Agasara Nandini, who won a gold in heptathlon at the 26th Asian athletics championship in South Korea received Rs 5 lakh, while gymnast Nishika Agarwal, who won a bronze in vault event, was rewarded with Rs 3 lakh. Differently-abled shooter Dhanush Srikanth was given a cheque for Rs 10 lakh for winning two gold medals in men and mixed team event at the World Deaf shooting championships last year. Goalball athletes Pavan Kalyan, P Sai Teja and coach G Shiva Kumar were given Rs 4.8 lakh. Panel to oversee Sports University Special chief secretary, sports, Jayesh Ranjan revealed that "the sports policy is inclusive, with focus on grassroots and schools to identify the talent and nurture it through proper system". Around 50 residential schools will have a centre of excellence (CoE) with top-class coaches and athletes would be provided with a proper ecosystem. To oversee the whole process and run the world-class sports academy, a governing council with 15 prominent personalities has been formed. With Sanjeev Goenka as chairman and Upasana Kamineni as the co-chairperson, the panel would have the likes of BV Papa Rao, Kapil Dev, Abhinav Bindra, Pullela Gopichand, Baichung Bhutia, Ravikanth Reddy, Vita Dani, Kavya Maran and C Shashidhar, with Jayesh Ranjan and Sports Authority of Telangana chairman Shiva Sena Reddy as govt representatives.
